MBTI®: 10 DC Superheroes Who Are ISTPs | CBR

Readers like to put their favorite superheroes under a microscope. It lets them see their strengths and weakness. Also, it shows their successes and mistakes. But most of all, the review provides a close examination of these individuals to reveal their characteristics.

RELATED: MBTI®: 10 DC Villains Who Are ISTPs

For instance, it may show them as introverted observers who want to explore the world. Or, it can reveal their joy at taking things apart and putting them together again. Several people in the DC Universe fall under this category, labeled as ISTP in the Meyer-Briggs personality test. To find out more, here are 10 DC superheroes who are ISTPs.

10 Batman

Look up the word introverted and you'll find Batman's picture. He is a true ISTP, who would rather dig into the bowels of a mystery than beat someone up. It's what keeps his mind off of the past.

Most of the time, he works alone or with his son. On occasion, when it gets too tough for him to handle, Batman brings in other members of his "family" to assist. He's unpredictable this way. Another sign he's an ISTP.

9 Kilowog

Kilowog is not just a Green Lantern. As seen during the late 80s and early 90s, he's also a technical genius. He can wire up a superhero headquarters or create a luxury resort on Kooey Kooey Kooey in a matter of hours. He's happier puttering around his work area than flying through the cosmos.

During these times, he likes to be alone. Others can observe, but he doesn't want them to touch anything. However, when he's done, he'll humbly show off the project. This reveals his pride in doing the hard work.

8 Steel

John Henry Irons is another ISTP. If not, he wouldn't have created the armor that made him Steel. Nor would he help others when they run into technological problems. Irons is the most calm when he's working on one of his tasks.

RELATED: MBTI®: 10 DC Villains Who Are ISTJs

ISTPs are considered virtuosos. Thus, they look toward perfection instead of mediocrity. This fits Steel's profile. If something isn't right with his armor, he doesn't shrug it off and go on patrol. He ensures everything is at 100% capacity before moving on.

7 Cyborg

Vic Stone is another individual who wants to get things right the first time. He has to, since his armor helps him survive in any environment. If he doesn't, he dies in the vacuum of space.

He doesn't study the mechanics. Rather, he looks at the data involved, and this is normally a one-person job. Thus, if he looks distracted when Beast Boy or Batman speaks with him, it's because he's busy analyzing every byte of data as not to leave anything out.

6 Ted Kord

No one thought of the second Blue Beetle as a detective. Instead, they thought of him as a goofy crimefighter with a giant bug-like ship. Yet, as seen in Countdown to Infinite Crisis, he has investigative talents that match or rival Batman's.

That's one reason he falls into the ISTP category. The other involves his connection with technology. Before becoming the Blue Beetle, Ted ran his own technology company. He was the one who created The Bug. It's no wonder he could efficiently dig into the history behind Maxwell Lord and Checkmate.

5 Flash

Readers know Barry Allen as the fastest man alive. However, before he was doused with lighting-charged chemicals, he served as a crime scene investigator in today's world. Thus, he's a virtuoso in the lab when he isn't saving the world.

RELATED: Barry Allen Vs Wally West: Who Is Really The Fastest Flash?

This indicates him as an ISTP. He and Batman were the ones to dig into the meaning of the button discovered in the Batcave during Rebirth. Barry tries to quickly get to the bottom of things. Good thing he works at the speed of light.

4 Superman (When He Is Clark Kent)

Superman is an ISTP, but not for his powers. He's not even on this list because he's the Man of Steel. It's his other job that makes him fall under this indicator.

As Clark Kent, he's an investigative reporter, and a good one at that. Yes, he might use his powers to obtain information. However, most of it comes from the knowledge he's gained working as a journalist.  He asks the right questions to get to the heart of a story. In other words, he's an investigative virtuoso.

3 Detective Chimp

Yes, this member of Justice League Dark is an ISTP. It's right there in his name. The talking chimp is the epitome of Holmesian investigation. He starts from the general and works to the specific.

It's the reason other detectives in the DC Universe respect him, including Batman. When the Caped Crusader isn't around, people turn to Mr. Chimp to help them solve a mystery.

2 Elongated Man

Ralph Dibny has a nose for mystery. It twitches when he senses it. When this happens, he'll go off on his own to solve a riddle, even when others tell him not to.

RELATED: 5 Marvel Heroes Elongated Man Can Beat (& 5 That He Can't)

That's why he falls under the ISTP indicator. It's another case where his powers only help with evidence discovery. The rest is done through intricate mental processes that put together the puzzle pieces. It makes him happier to do this than to fight the super-villain of the day.

1 Tim Drake

Out of the Robin trio that replaced Dick Grayson, Tim Drake is the only one who truly adopted Batman's detective skills. He had them before he became Robin as it's how he knew Bruce Wayne was the Dark Knight Detective.

Unlike the others, Tim utilizes his mind and technology to help dig through a mystery. Hence, he became an efficient partner to Batman. When Bruce was not under the cowl, he assisted his replacements in honing their investigative abilities.

Fullmetal Alchemist: 5 Anime Fighters Greed Could Defeat (& 5 He'd Lose To)

$

One of the deepest action shonen anime shows out there is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which boasts tragic themes of hubris and mortal sin, forgiveness, the dual light and dark nature of humanity, genocide, and more. Still, there is plenty of time for action, and this series is all about alchemy and Homunculi.

RELATED: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Jotaro Kujo's 10 Best Fights, Ranked

There's a Homunculus for each deadly sin, and Greed is roughly in the middle of the pack. He has some martial arts skills and a great deal of courage, and he can harden his skin like diamond with his Ultimate Shield. He can also scratch with his sharp fingernails and regenerate any wounded flesh. With these assets, Greed can take on many fighters in other anime series... but not all of them.

10 Can Defeat: Eijiro Kirishima (My Hero Academia)

First, let's have Greed fight someone who's similar to him. Eijiro Kirishima is a student hero at U.A. in My Hero Academia, and his quirk allows him to harden his skin. That makes him an ideal melee fighter and human shield.

He's met his match against Greed, however, who can match his hard skin and outlast him thanks to superior strength and his capacity to regenerate any wounds he might suffer. Eijiro isn't ready for a villain like Greed just yet.

9 Can't Defeat: Baraggan Louisenbairn (Bleach)

This skeletal Arrancar is the 2nd Espada, Baraggan Louisenbairn. Few if any characters from Bleach or any anime can take him on, since he is the master of decay and time. Any matter or energy that gets close will rapidly age and rot away.

This death aura makes Baraggan difficult to even approach, let alone injure, and Greed has no angle here. He's got many souls in his Philosopher's Stone, but they'll all rot away (along with his flesh) once Baraggan gets in close and uses Respira (death breath). Then, Baraggan could cleave Greed's rotting body apart with his ax, Gran Caida.

8 Can Defeat: Josuke Higashikata (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

This is going to be a tough one, and it will cost Greed several regenerations from his Stone. But he can do it if he's persistent and takes Josuke by surprise. Greed can't destroy Josuke's stand (Crazy Diamond) since he doesn't have a stand of his own, but that won't stop him.

RELATED: FMA: 5 Characters From My Hero Academia Edward Elric Could Defeat (& 5 He'd Lose To)

Instead, Greed just needs one chance to slip past Crazy Diamond (perhaps by exploiting the terrain) and get in close with Josuke himself. Crazy Diamond can fix and heal things, but the exception is Josuke's body, and Crazy Diamond will be helpless when Greed stabs his hand right into Josuke's chest.

7 Can't Defeat: Blackbeard (One Piece)

Blackbeard is a powerful pirate who wields the Dark-Dark Fruit, which allows him to create all-consuming black voids that can sink entire battlefields or ships at once. He became even more formidable when he stole the Tremor-Tremor Fruit from Whitebeard's dead body somehow.

Greed has no Devil Fruit powers, and his hard skin and martial arts skills won't mean much when Blackbeard creates a nether void with his Dark-Dark Fruit to swallow up Greed in total darkness. Not even the regenerative powers of the Philosopher's Stone will get Greed out of this one.

6 Can Defeat: Snek (One-Punch Man)

The hero known as Snek can give Greed a good fight, but he's not going to win this bout. He's one of the lowest A-Class heroes, meaning he can handle lesser villains just fine but needs reinforcements if a boss battle begins.

RELATED: Fullmetal Alchemist: the Anime's 10 Most Hated Characters, Ranked

Greed is that boss battle, and Snek will have to give it his all to keep up. He's actually a little quicker and more nimble than Greed, but he has no special abilities or powers. Meanwhile, Greed has that hard skin and claws, plus regeneration. He can outlast Snek with ease.

5 Can't Defeat: Brandish (Fairy Tail)

Brandish is one of the Spriggan 12, the most powerful wizards of the Alvarez Empire. Even in that bunch, Brandish stands out with her immense magic and capacity to resize objects of any scale. She can even shrink down entire landmasses without trouble.

Greed is helpless before an ability like that. Brandish can shrink him to the size of a thumb, then toss him into a container and seal him away for good. Or she could turn herself into a giant and just step on him. In this case, size really does matter.

4 Can Defeat: Thorfinn (Vinland Saga)

Thorfinn is a Viking warrior, a boy born of the fearsome Thors, the "Troll of Jom." Thorfinn may not wield magic powers or a great hammer like Thor in the MCU, but he's a fearsome fighter all the same, and wields dual knives in combat.

RELATED: Naruto: 5 Toughest Fights of Sasuke Uchiha (& 5 Easiest)

That isn't going to cut it against Greed, since Thorfinn's knives can't cut Greed's skin while the Ultimate Shield is up. Thorfinn has superior maneuverability but Greed is too tough, and he'll land a serious blow on Thorfinn sooner or later in their duel.

3 Can't Defeat: Itachi Uchiha (Naruto)

Blades and punches don't work so well against Greed's hard skin and regeneration, but what about the advanced ninjutsu of Itachi Uchiha and his Mangekyo Sharingan? Greed is totally unprepared for an opponent like this.

Itachi's fireballs and shuriken won't make much headway, but his advanced genjutsu certainly will, and his Mangekyo powers can envelop Greed in all-consuming black flames or shatter his mind with torturous illusions. Greed's skin is tough, but he won't be ready to shield his eyes.

2 Can Defeat: Tanjiro Kamado (Demon Slayer)

In his own anime world, Tanjiro is a formidable fighter since he is tenacious, strong-willed, and rather talented with the demon-slaying Nichirin Blade. He has an affinity for water, and his desire to protect Nezuko has seen him through some serious fights.

But that Nichirin Blade has more limited power against Greed, who is certainly not a demon. Tanjiro can deal some damage in this duel, but  Greed can survive the worst of it. Plus, he can slash Tanjiro's chest wide open with those steely fingernails of his.

1 Can't Defeat: Midnight (My Hero Academia)

My Hero Academia is packed with cool characters with fantastic abilities, so here's another character from that universe: Midnight. She has no means of piercing Greed's skin, but thanks to her quirk, Somnambulist, that's not necessary at all.

Instead, she can use her Somnambulist to release vapors from her skin. These vapors can put anyone to sleep once they inhale those fumes, especially men. Greed will conk right out, and Midnight can just walk away in victory. She doesn't even have to get her hands dirty.

Stargirl: The Most Powerful Items From The JSA Brownstone, Ranked

$
0
0

Despite it looking like a rather lighthearted show, the series premiere of Stargirl shows the Justice Society of America (JSA) being killed by the Injustice Society (ISA). Since then and until Courtney discovers the Cosmic Staff and Pat tells her the truth, everything in the JSA headquarters has been collecting dust.

RELATED: Justice Society: The 10 Most Important Stories, Ranked

Determined to defeat the ISA and bring about a new generation of the JSA, Courtney takes most of the items that are on display and gives some to kids she learns to trust at school. Pat is furious when he finds out, and tells her the items are too dangerous to give to just anyone. How dangerous, exactly? Find out here in this ranking of the JSA relics' powers, from the weakest to the strongest.

9 Jay Garrick’s Helmet

Jay is one of the founding members of the Justice Society, so it's only natural his helmet is on display. Jay Garrick was the original Flash, gaining super speed from inhalation of hard water vapor. Living on Earth 2, he met Barry during the Flash of Two Worlds story. Since then, he serves as a father figure to the Flashes and the other members of the speedster family.

Based on the Roman god Mercury, Jay wears a doughboy helmet with two golden wings on the side. The helmet is obviously from his days fighting in World War II. While Jay is definitely one of the more powerful members of the Society, his helmet has absolutely nothing to do with his powers. It's unknown why Courtney didn't take the helmet, considering she wouldn't have known that.

8 Sandman’s Mask

No, this Sandman has no relation to Neil Gaiman's beloved Vertigo character. This Sandman goes by the name Wesley Dodds, who was plagued by dreams that detailed horrific crimes. These dreams were actually prophetic, as the crimes had not happened yet and could still be stopped. He built a laboratory and dedicated himself to Eastern studies such as martial arts and herbalism.

Wesley created a formula that could be used as a sedative gas and developed hypnotic goggles. Putting on a gas mask, he went after the criminals that haunted his dreams. He eventually adopted Sandy Hawkins, who would take on the Sandman name after Wesley passed away.

7 Alan Scott’s Power Battery

Despite the name, Alan Scott is and never was an actual member of the Green Lantern Corps, nor do his powers come from the Guardians of the Universe. Instead, Alan draws his powers from the Starheart, a mystical force that has been traveling through Earth captured in a lantern. When Alan was caught in a deadly train wreck, he reached out and grabbed the lantern, which let him survive. Alan created a ring to help tap into the Starheart's powers.

RELATED: JSA: The 5 Best Legacy Heroes On The Team (& The 5 Best Founding Members Who Stuck Around)

The Starheart Empowerment gives him basically all the same powers as Green Lantern Corps members, although he is much more powerful than the average Green Lantern. While the battery is obviously very powerful, the ring wasn't included. Like Pat said "It's not nearly as dangerous if you don't have the ring too."

6 Doctor Mid-Nite’s Goggles

After being struck in the face with grenade shrapnel, Dr. Charles McNider was left blind. After months of therapy and gym sessions, Charles accepted his new life. That was until an owl accidentally barged into his house and Charles, startled, ripped the bandages off. He could see! But when he turned the lights on, he was blind again.

He realized he developed acute night vision and tended to the owl, adopting it and naming it Hooty. Hooty appeared in the JSA's headquarters, and Pat said that the owl had no idea that Charles was dead. Before his death, Mid-Nite uploaded an AI consciousness to the goggles he wore, giving the wearer a constant stream of information. Beth Chapel put them on and Courtney decided to let her keep them as the new Dr. Mid-Nite.

5 Wildcat’s Suit

In the comics, Ted Grant was a world class boxer who was arrested after his manager framed him for fixing a fight. He became the hero Wildcat after being inspired by Green Lantern. The only power he has is the nine lives, given to him by a magic spell. Ted is eternally youthful, allowing his skills to never decrease with age. If he dies, he returns again soon after.

RELATED: DC: Ranking the Top 10 Members of the Justice Society by Personality

In the show, WIldcat is dead along with the rest of the Society, and his costume was left in the headquarters.  Courtney was first disgusted with the costume, as it was originally nothing more than a baggy catsuit/gym outfit. When Yolanda put it on, it immediately slimmed down to match her body and gave her abilities such as agility, wall-crawling, balance, and retractable claws.

4 Hourman’s Hourglass

Rex Tyler was a chemist who accidentally created a super-vitamin called Miraclo. When he tested it on mice, it increased their vitality and strength immediately, but only for an hour. Using it himself, he gave himself super strength and super speed for an hour as well. He decided to become a superhero, taking on the name Hourman.

In the show, viewers see Rex and his wife abandon Blue Valley out of fear for their family's life. They were killed by Solomon Grundy, and their son Rick grew up with his uncle, believing his parents died in a car accident. When the hourglass began glowing around Rick, Courtney tried to give it to him. He ignored her until she found him and this time he accepted. However, he used his strength to punch his uncle's car in half. After finding out it was the ISA that killed his parents, Rick joined the newly founded JSA, hoping for revenge.

3 The Cosmic Staff

The Cosmic Staff is what viewers see the most of in the show, after Courtney found it immediately reacting to her, because her father was Starman. In the comics, it was also owned by Jack Knight, son of the original Starman, Ted Knight. Jack's older brother, Dan, succeeded his dad as Starman, until he was murdered by a supervillain, so Jack took up the legacy. After spending time as the Star Spangled Kid, Courtney receives the Cosmic Staff from Jack, and becomes Stargirl.

In both versions, the Cosmic Staff gives the user an assortment of powers. Courtney is able to manipulate gravity and magnetism to allow her to enhance her acrobatic skills and fly. The staff is also able to fire energy blasts and create force fields.

2 The Pink Pen

Johnny Thunder was a powerless member of the JSA, but he did have control over a genie from the 5th Dimension named Yz, or Thunderbolt, by saying the phrase 'Cei-U.' Despite the Thunderbolt being an extremely powerful, reality warping being of might, he had to follow all of Johnny's orders for an hour.

The two were somewhat friends and when Johnny was killed by the Ultra Humanite, Thunderbolt merged with him, and they became Johnny Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt was accidentally passed on to Jakeem Thunder while Jay Garrick was signing autographs. Pat described the pink pen as the most dangerous item of the JSA, and didn't realize it was still on Courtney's dresser when he confiscated the other items.

1 Doctor Fate's Helm

Pat may think that the Thunderbolt is the most dangerous, but comic fans know that Doctor Fate was easily the most powerful member of the Justice Society. Kent Nelson was the original Dr. Fate, who came across the Helm of Nabu while on an excavation with his archaeologist father.

When the Helm was taken, it released a poisonous gas that killed Kent's father. Nabu mentored Kent in the mystical arts, giving him incredible powers and training him to become a Lord of Order. It turns out Nabu purposefully let Kent's father die in order to gain a new host. Kent joined the JSA during World War II, and after his death there have been many other hosts of Nabu.

Boruto: 10 Genin That Are Chunin Level | CBR

$
0
0

The next generation of shinobi in Boruto includes some of the most talented ninjas ever seen in the Narutoverse. While some of them, such as Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha, are known to be prodigies, others like Mitsuki are a product of scientific technology.

RELATED: 5 Ways 'Naruto' Messed Up Rock Lee (& 5 Ways They Rocked Him Out)

Having inherited great powers from their parents and trained them to a great degree, these young ninjas have become so strong that even as Genin, some of them possess the powers of Chunin and even beyond. Here are 10 Genin in Boruto whose strength is at least on par with that of a Chunin, if not higher.

10 Yodo

Yodo is a Genin from Sunagakure and a member of Team Shinki. She's known to be the brightest Genin in her village and during the Chunin Exams, Yodo showed off what she was capable of to the fans.

Yodo's skills are easily on the same level as that of a Chunin, as seen during the Chunin Exams arc. She was quite a match for Shikadai, who went on to become a Chunin.

9 Yurui

Yurui is a Genin from Kumogakure and one of their brightest known shinobi. As a ninja, Yurui takes inspiration from Killer Bee, the Jinchūriki of the Eight-Tails.

He is known to be extremely skilled in Lightning Release ninjutsu and is also capable of wielding dual blades in battle. During the Chunin Exams, he possessed enough skill to match Boruto Uzumaki in battle.

8 Sumire Kakei

Sumire is a member of Team 15 and a Genin from Konohagakure. She's known to be an excellent user of Water Release ninjutsu, as seen during the Nue arc of Boruto.

Furthermore, she can also summon Nue, a tremendously powerful summon with the ability to absorb chakra. With the Nue by her side, Sumire is easily as powerful as a Chunin.

7 Iwabee Yuino

A member of Team 5 along with Denki Kaminarimon and Metal Lee, Iwabee is quite a powerful ninja, especially when it comes to Ninjutsu.

RELATED: Naruto: 10 Hidden Details About Sasuke Everyone Missed

Even in the Academy, Iwabee was known to possess skills that were beyond the level of an average Genin. When it comes to Earth Release ninjutsu, Iwabee is already known to be a master of several of its arts. Right now, he's definitely on the same level as a Chunin.

6 Tsubaki

Tsubaki is a Samurai and the latest addition to Team 15, replacing Sumire Kakei. As seen in the Boruto anime, she's quite powerful for a Genin and her skill with a katana is said to be tremendous.

Tsubaki is capable of using some of the most overpowered Kenjutsu abilities that any Genin has used in the series so far. That alone is enough to put her on the same level as a Chunin.

5 Metal Lee

Metal Lee is a member of Team 5, led by none other than Udon. As Rock Lee's son, it's quite easy to see that Metal is skilled in Taijutsu. He's known to be capable of opening some of the Eight Inner Gates as well.

Metal Lee is also known to be extremely good with Shurikenjutsu, as seen several times over in the series. With such incredible powers up his sleeve, it's quite easy to see why Metal Lee is one of the strongest next-generation characters in Boruto.

4 Shinki

Gaara's adoptive son, Shinki is quite a tremendous shinobi whose skill is not only above a Chunin, but likely an average Jonin as well. Shinki is extremely well versed in using the Magnet Release Kekkei Genkai.

RELATED:Naruto: The Worst Things Naruto Ever Did, Ranked

Using this power of his, Shinki is able to control Iron Sand, the special Jutsu of the Third Kazekage himself. With these powers, he was able to take on both Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha at once and beat both of them.

3 Sarada Uchiha

Sarada Uchiha is the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura Uchiha and quite a powerful Kunoichi. Being an Uchiha, she's blessed with the powers of the Sharingan, which has completely matured only recently.

On top of everything, she's highly skilled in Fire and Lightning Release ninjutsu, making her a threat to even some Kara members, such as Boro. Undoubtedly, Sarada is on the same level as a Chunin, and likely even above.

2 Mitsuki

Mitsuki is the child of Orochimaru and a synthetically created human. He's known to be perfect in every way and according to Orochimaru, he's got the potential to surpass the Legendary Sannin themselves.

Mitsuki is quite a skilled fighter and is also capable of undergoing Sage Transformation, which puts him beyond the level of a Jonin, without a doubt.

1 Boruto Uzumaki

Boruto Uzumaki is the son of Naruto Uzumaki and the apprentice of Sasuke Uchiha. Known to be a prodigy, Boruto has always been skilled in the ways of the shinobi.

After acquiring the powers of the Karma, Boruto has gained access to the powers of the Otsutsuki clan themselves. Although he's not able to tap into the power completely yet, he's likely going to be able to do so at some point in the future.

My Hero Academia: 5 Characters Izuku Midoriya Has Already Surpassed (& 5 He Never Will)

$

0

Izuku Midoriya is the main protagonist of My Hero Academia in which he aims to become the Number One Hero and protect people from threatening Villains with a smile on his face.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Shoto Todoroki

Having been entrusted with One For All, one of the strongest Quirks in existence, Izuku is gradually making his way straight to the top. On his way, he's already surpassed some characters, while others are far away from his grasp right now and will probably be right until the end. Here are five My Hero Academia characters Izuku has already surpassed, and five he probably never will.

10 Has Surpassed: Gran Torino

Gran Torino is a pro Hero who is known for his excellent speed. He's quite a powerful Hero who also assisted All Might in his fight against All For One. Gran Torino may be exceptionally fast, but he isn't nearly as strong as Izuku currently is, as Deku can use 30% of One For All at all times and bring out 45% of his powers momentarily when he needs it.

9 Will Never Surpass: All Might

All Might was the strongest known Hero in My Hero Academia and the Symbol of Peace. Before Izuku, he wielded the power known as One For All. All Might's power knew no limits, and, when the need arose, he could push beyond 100% of his powers. Even when Izuku masters One For All completely, it is highly unlikely that he'll go beyond the level of All Might.

8 Has Surpassed: Gentle Criminal

Gentle Criminal served as the main antagonist of the Cultural Festival arc of My Hero Academia, where his plans were foiled by Midoriya singlehandedly. With the powers of the Elasticity Quirk, he created quite some trouble for Midoriya.

Although Gentle was quite powerful, his skills were outclassed by Izuku Midoriya's by far. Thanks to constant training, Izuku overcame the power of Gentle and is now far stronger than he ever was.

7 Will Never Surpass: All For One

All For One is the strongest known Villain in the story to date and the man who is known as Japan's worst criminal. With the powers of All For One at his side, he was practically unstoppable until All Might eventually put an end to him at the cost of his own powers.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 5 Reasons Why Shoto Would Make A Great Hero (& 5 Reasons He Could Turn Into A Villain

Even if Izuku reaches the same level of power as All Might, surpassing All For One will prove to be quite an arduous task for him. Izuku surpassing All For One might be impossible, but he'll definitely reach the same level as him in the future.

6 Has Surpassed: Spinner

Spinner is one of the members of the League of Villains and quite possibly one of their weakest. He doesn't possess any remarkable ability, and his Quirk, known as Gecko, is rather average. Spinner's level of fighting prowess was surpassed by Izuku Midoriya quite some time ago. If the two clash, it won't take Midoriya long to put the fight to bed.

5 Will Never Surpass: Shigaraki Tomura

Shigaraki Tomura is the current leader of the Paranormal Liberation Front and the strongest Villain in the story right now. As things stand, he's far stronger than Izuku Midoriya and Bakugo Katsuki combined, as confirmed by Gran Torino recently.

Shigaraki possesses the power of the Decay Quirk, along with several other powerful Quirks, including All For One. His level of strength will likely be matched up Izuku in the future, but it's nearly impossible to surpass him.

4 Has Surpassed: Mirio Togata

Mirio is one of the members of the UA Big Three, and, until recently, he was the man known to be closest to All Might. Unfortunately, during the Shie Hassaikai arc, Mirio ended up losing his Quirk.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 5 Times Shoto Todoroki Was An Overrated Class 1-A Student (& 5 He Was Underrated)

Right now, he's far below the level of an average pro Hero, and Izuku Midoriya, who once lagged behind him, is far ahead. In the future, Mirio could pull ahead if he gets his Quirk back.

3 Will Never Surpass: Bakugo Katsuki

Bakugo is one of Midoriya's classmates at the UA, and, just like him, he aims to become the strongest Hero in history. Bakugo and Midoriya always progress together. Although the latter progresses quite fast, Bakugo uses that to drive himself to reach his level.

By the end of the series, it's quite easy to see that they'll both be neck and neck once again. If Midoriya is the strongest Hero, Bakugo won't fall behind him and will likely be on the same level.

2 Has Surpassed: Shinso

Shinso is one of the most intriguing students in UA right now. Having recently been transferred to the Hero department, Shinso is only going to get stronger. Thanks to Aizawa's training, he's become quite powerful, indeed. However, Izuku has pulled ahead of him by a mile. Unfortunately for Shinso, that'll likely be the case forever from here on out.

1 Will Never Surpass: Nine

Nine was the antagonist of My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. He possessed multiple Quirks under his belt, just like All For One, and his powers were known to be just as great as All For One himself, if not greater.

At the end of the series, Izuku will likely be around the same level as him. However, pulling ahead is probably not going to be an easy job.

JK Rowling Defends Stance on Trans Hormone Therapy | CBR

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is once again under fire after liking a tweet that is critical of trans hormone therapy.

The tweet was posted by a user named Sophie (@Manaxium), who wrote that "Hormone prescriptions are the new anti-depressants." She went on to say that, while they are "sometimes necessary and lifesaving," those "who would rather medicate than put in the time and effort to heal people’s minds" are lazy.

RELATED: JK Rowling Pens Essay Defending Her Stance on Trans Rights Issues

@sineadactually and @TrinerScot noticed Rowling's like and criticized her for "supporting those who call people who take mental health medication "lazy.'"

Rowling then issued a statement on the matter, first noting that she has "written and spoken about [her] own mental health challenges, which include OCD, depression and anxiety" and that anti-depressants she took in the past helped improve her mental health.

RELATED: Stephen King Publicly Calls Out JK Rowling for Her Anti-Trans Stance

She then started discussing the trans community and her worries regarding hormone treatment. "Many health professionals are concerned that young people struggling with their mental health are being shunted towards hormones and surgery when this may not be in their best interests," she wrote.

"Many, myself included, believe we are watching a new kind of conversion therapy for young gay people, who are being set on a lifelong path of medicalisation that may result in the loss of their fertility and/or full sexual function," she continued.

Rowling went on to cite a documentary and several articles that discuss the long-term health risks of hormone therapy and the overprescription of anti-depressants to teenagers.

These posts and statements come nearly a month after Rowling's initial comments on June 7, which caused an uproar in the LGBT and trans communities, and among their allies. Various Harry Potter stars have issues statements of support to their trans fans, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Katie Leung, Eddie Redmayne and Evanna Lynch. Warner Bros., which distributes the Harry Potter films, and Universal Parks & Resorts, which hosts The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, also issued statements.

Lord Drakkon: The Strongest and DEADLIEST Power Ranger Ever, Explained

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #50 by Ryan Parrott, Daniele Di Nicuolo and Walter Baiamonte, on sale now.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #50 put an exclamation point on the "Necessary Evil" arc and showed the return of the Ranger's greatest threat, Lord Drakkon. The Power Rangers and the Omega Rangers just got done dealing with the fallout from the last time Lord Drakkon exorcised his reign of terror on the Morphin Grid -- now they have to decide how to deal with him once more.

Lord Drakkon has an intimate relationship with the Power Rangers because he was a Ranger. Tommy Oliver is known for his stints as the Green and White Ranger, but BOOM! Studios saw Tommy give into Rita Repulsa's corruption to become the evil Lord Drakkon before he returned as the White Ranger. Lord Drakkon is so feared because of his combination of power and ruthless execution of his evil plans. When Rita first anointed Drakkon, she allowed him to keep the Green Ranger's power. However, that wasn't good enough, because he stole the White Ranger's powers as well. This took Drakkon from a normal problem to a galactic force, unlike anything the Rangers have dealt with before.

RELATED: Power Rangers: How the Omega Rangers Took the Mighty Morphin Team Cosmic

Drakkon started stealing morphers and manipulating them to give his own army of evil rangers with increased powers. Under Drakkon's influence, Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart even became the vaunted Ranger Slayer and was the second most powerful Ranger in the entire universe -- only surpassed by Drakkon.

Besides turning fellow Rangers into fellow evildoers, Drakkon could also teleport and travel through time. This allowed him to travel into different dimensions and kill other versions of Tommy Oliver and inflict his plans in not just his current timeline, but any other timeline of his choosing. This is by far the most dastardly of his menacing deeds because it truly shows the extent Drakkon will go to in order to complete his mission.

RELATED: How The Power Rangers/Ninja Turtles Finale Sets Up a Sequel

Lord Drakkon made such a large impact on the Morphin Grid, his influence caused major problems for not only the Power Rangers, but the Omega Rangers as well -- even long after he was gone.

Kiya was granted the power of the Omega Blue Ranger, whose powers are tied to the alchemical traits of water. Upon discovering Tommy still leads the Power Rangers and her fellow Omega Rangers are still friendly with him, she turns on them and declares war on any and all allies of Tommy Oliver. Her splinter group is called the Anointed and it took all the might of the Power and Omega Rangers to defeat her.

There's still one burning question remaining about Drakkon's return: Who -- or what -- is he?

Tommy's place as the White Ranger is secure, so this new Lord Drakkon is somewhat of a mystery. He may prove to be even more powerful than Tommy. However, this version of Drakkon doesn't arrive as a threat, but with a short and insidious warning: "They're coming." It's ominous, to be sure; depending on how the story progresses, it seems possible the Rangers will have to team up with Drakkon to take down a new threat. It could also be just another plot to make the Rangers vulnerable.

REVIEW: Refugee Drama Stateless Has a Strong Stance But Weak Narrative

$

Australian miniseries Stateless is ostensibly about the government’s treatment of asylum-seeking refugees, who are detained in camps sometimes for years while their visa applications are slowly processed (and often rejected). Much like the situation in the U.S., there are heightened tensions on all sides with activists protesting the mistreatment of detainees and the separation of families.

Yet, somehow Stateless centers the perspectives of mostly white Australians, combining the refugee drama with a ripped-from-the-headlines story of a young woman in peril, based loosely on a famous case from the early ’00s. It doesn’t serve the story of the genuine refugees who struggle in the government-run camps, nor does it effectively serve the story of German-Australian woman Sofie Werner (Yvonne Strahovski), who ends up in a detention center when her efforts to escape both a cult and her overbearing family go wrong.

RELATED: The Suicide Squad's Jai Courtney Says New Film Has a 'Different Flavor'

Only one of the main characters, Afghan refugee Ameer (Fayssal Bazzi), represents the perspective of the thousands of asylum-seekers who attempt to reach Australia. And he doesn’t get the same attention as Sofie or the other Australian central characters, detention center guard Cameron Sandford (Jai Courtney) and government bureaucrat Clare Kowitz (Asher Keddie). The first episode follows Ameer as he attempts to get his family on a boat to Australia, after they’ve already traveled from Afghanistan to Pakistan to Indonesia while fleeing Taliban persecution. He’s an upstanding family man who will sacrifice anything for the safety of his wife and daughters, which makes him sympathetic but not particularly complex.

Ameer’s journey runs parallel to the initially unrelated story of Sofie, a flight attendant with judgmental German-immigrant parents and an unhealthy attachment to a self-help center that is very clearly a cult. By the end of the first episode, Ameer and Sofie both arrive at Barton, a holding facility in the middle of the Outback, and the next few episodes fill in some of the gaps on how they got there.

It’s not hard to guess what happened to bring Ameer to Barton, but when Sofie arrives there speaking in a German accent and calling herself Eva, there are obviously some missing steps along the way. The mystery of Sofie’s identity lends the series some suspense (at least for people unfamiliar with the real-life case of Cornelia Rau), but it also distracts from the more grounded stories of refugees waiting to be approved to enter the country.

RELATED: Mrs. America: Cate Blanchett's Character Is More Terrifying Than Hela

And instead of delving more deeply into the lives of other refugees, the series focuses its other main storylines on Cameron and Clare, both of whom are conflicted about the roles they play within Barton and the larger immigration system. Cameron takes the guard job to make better money to support his family, but he doesn’t share his fellow guards’ contemptuous attitude toward the detainees, and he’s repeatedly placed in compromising positions in which he has to make difficult moral choices. Clare is more dedicated to her job, but she sees the assignment to Barton as a demotion of sorts, and she starts to question the decisions her boss at immigration headquarters pushes her to make.

There’s nothing wrong with humanizing the people responsible for the poor treatment of refugees to emphasize that they aren’t faceless villains, but complex people who are serving competing interests. And the performances from Courtney (who’s mostly seen in Hollywood in one-dimensional action roles) and Keddie are strong, giving these potentially villainous characters a level of sympathetic understanding. Their struggles are nothing compared to what Ameer is going through, though, and brief subplots about other detainees offer intriguing glimpses into alternative directions the story could have taken.

More than anything, the show is about Sofie, with lengthy flashbacks in each episode to her experience in the cult and her gradual mental breakdown. While this seems disconcertingly abrupt in the first episode, it gains extra dimension as the six-episode series progresses. Cate Blanchett, who also co-created the series, shows up in a small role as half of the creepy power couple running the cult (Dominic West is even creepier as the other half), and there’s enough unsettling material there to wish for an entire show devoted just to this group (which is also inspired by a real-life Australian organization). Strahovski, best known for her role on The Handmaid’s Tale, immerses herself in Sofie’s fractured mental state, and series directors Emma Freeman and Jocelyn Moorhouse weave in fragmented images of her past to give an idea of how she’s unraveling.

The fourth episode, featuring a breakout attempt by several detainees including Sofie, provides some tense, exciting moments, and the show overall is well-constructed with the kind of grand scope needed to tackle such a wide-ranging social problem. With big-name Australian stars like Blanchett, Courtney and Strahovski in the cast, Stateless was a major TV event when it aired in Australia in March, and it carries the kind of serious tone that indicates it’s meant to feel important.

As a statement on government policy, it’s admirable, but as drama, it’s less effective. The slow, measured plot development, uneven focus and inconsistent characterization make it less engaging on a narrative level, even as it provokes the requisite outrage and calls for change.

Starring Yvonne Strahovski, Jai Courtney, Asher Keddie, Fayssal Bazzi, Dominic West and Cate Blanchett, all six episodes of Stateless will premiere July 8 on Netflix.

Shakedown: Hawaii Is Being Ported... to the Wii? | CBR

The 16-bit open-world action game Shakedown: Hawaii is getting ported to more platforms. While games being made available to more players is always cause for celebration, this scenario is a bit strange, as developer Vblank Entertainment is porting the 2019 title to the Nintendo Wii and the Wii U.

Shakedown: Hawaii is similar to Vblank Entertainment's previous release, Retro City Rampage. It's played from a top-down perspective and parodies 1980s culture with gameplay reminiscent of Hotline Miami and the original Grand Theft Auto games. It follows an out-of-touch, nearly bankrupt CEO who employs his son and favorite henchman to help rebuild his corporate empire and get rid of his competitors at any cost.

Related: Sea of Stars: The Messenger Is Getting a Prequel - Here's What We Know

The game received decent reviews, with the PlayStation 4 version currently holding a 78 on Metacritic. The decision to port it to other consoles isn't surprising, though the developer's choices are. The Nintendo Wii was released in 2006 and succeeded by the Wii U in 2012, which was followed by the Switch in 2017. The Wii and Wii U versions will include all post-release content and gameplay tweaks. They also offer players the option of a 4:3 aspect ratio, making the game look more like the 16-bit classics it's impersonating. It's also important to note that each version will support all controller options for each console.

This is clearly a labor of love, as Brian Provinciano discussed in a statement that went up alongside the announcement. Provinciano is the one-man team behind Vblank Entertainment. Porting to a dated console offers him a fun challenge, and conquering the Wii's system memory to give players the same experience as current-gen platforms gave him just that. The feel of the Wii remote and its motion capabilities was also too good to pass up. The Wii is a system he holds near and dear, so releasing his game on that platform is a special achievement.

Related: The Switch Could Save Wii's Forgotten RPG Library

The Wii version of the game comes with a caveat. While Nintendo of America passed on a Wii port of Shakedown: Hawaii, Nintendo of Europe was more open to it. Provinciano was able to make it happen, but as Wii games aren't region-free, North American players won't be able to play the port on their Wii. This is why the game is also being ported to the Wii U, as it supports all of the features Provinciano wanted from a Wii version. Additionally, since the Wii Shop Channel shut down in 2019, the only way to get a new game on the console is by using a physical copy. There will only be 3,000 of these made, so it could become a bit of a collector's item.

While this is strange, it isn't the first case of a newer game being released on an older system. Last November, Just Dance 2020 launched on Wii alongside all current-gen consoles. Sony kept supporting the PlayStation 2 for a few years after the 2006 launch of the PlayStation 3 with games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Some smaller development teams go even further than that. Foxbat, a development team made up of ex-SNK developers, put out a fighting game called Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter for the SNES in 2017, over two decades after that console was succeeded by the Nintendo 64.

Shakedown: Hawaii is available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PC. It will launch on Wii on July 9 and on Wii U and Steam in August.

The Internet had a variety of reactions when rapper Kanye West announced his bid for the Presidency yesterday on Twitter. However, none may be more scathing than the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter.

The Cyberpunk 2077 account made its response to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who announced that West had his full support. "Sooo this is how it started," the Cyberpunk account wrote.

"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States!" West announced yesterday, using the hashtag #2020VISION. The Twitter comments poke fun at the dark, dystopian world of Cyberpunk 2077, joking that a Kanye presidency is what led to the game's grim future.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a video game extension of the original roleplaying game from the 1980s and '90s, which takes place in the sprawling metropolis of Night City. Corporations hold massive influence and power, and cybernetic implants have shaped people's lives for the worse. The game will feature Keanu Reeves (John Wick, The Matrix) in a supporting role.

Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC Nov. 19, and the game will also be available for the upcoming Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 next-gen consoles.

INTERVIEW: Simon Barry on Adapting Warrior Nun for Netflix | CBR

Prolific writer and producer Simon Barry has developed numerous fan-favorite series for television, including 2012's Continuum. Barry's latest television project is an adaptation of the comic book Warrior Nun for Netflix, bringing the 1993 comic Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn to life as the series' showrunner and executive producer. Following a young woman named Ava who is resurrected by a holy artifact, the series has its eponymous protagonist plunged in the middle of a secret war between the forces of Heaven and Hell, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance.

With the first season now available to stream in its entirety on Netflix, Barry sat down with CBR for an exclusive interview to discuss adapting the property for television and teased plans for a potential second season.

RELATED: Warrior Nun Takes Cues from... The Bling Ring?!

What was it about this property that made you want to bring it to television and Netflix?

Simon Barry: When I was first introduced to the material, via a friend of a film producer named Dean English who wanted to adapt the books and sent me some of the books to look at. I was immediately taken with the attitude and the in-your-face kind of tone of the books. Obviously, to do an adaptation for modern audiences, it had to be adjusted. But I saw a lot of potential in the mythology of the books and the characters and I also liked that it didn't take itself too seriously; it was having fun but it still had these stakes of good and evil.

So it was really from that point that I was intrigued and I knew that a feature adaptation was going to be challenging because there was so much story, there's so much to tell. So I suggested to Dean that we do the TV version -- which is more in my wheelhouse anyway, being a showrunner -- and he got permission to pitch it to Netflix who, I think, saw a very similar opportunity that I did which is kind of encapsulated in the title: It's shifting tone and kind of a religious story but also have fun with it.

One of the more striking things about the adaptation is its predominantly set in Spain. What made you want to take it to a European setting?

Barry: I knew early on, with the mythology for the show that we were developing in the writing room, particularly, we needed a sense of history and a sense of Christian history because we were tying in the origins of the halo to the Crusades. And, also, because this show is a little bit irreverent and kind of out-there, I wanted a place that would feel grounded. And the thing about Spain is there's such history in every direction with the churches and castles and landscape, and it just felt right that we ground the show -- because the show is so out-there, by grounding the show's stakes to good and evil and connecting it to Christian mythology -- that there would be a need to make the setting feel a little bit more real and not new. I think the age and the history that's always kind of there in the visuals really helped the show feel a little bit more rooted.

A lot of this season revolves around the dynamic between Alba Baptista and Toya Turner's characters, who are polar opposites in a lot of ways. What made you want to build the entire show around that?

Barry: Certain things pop when you're making a show. I don't think, in the writing room, we were necessarily envisioning the chemistry that those two performers had. Alba and Toya just fired off each other in a really great way, which was one of those things that you get to benefit from but you can't plan sometimes. As much as we wanted to build up the relationship between those two on the page, I think what you're talking about really, came out of the execution of their ability to differentiate themselves and also be equals in terms of their belief in themselves and their characters which really served the show well. And that's really the alchemy behind making a television show, sometimes those things happen and it just works and you lean into it.

But, on the page at least, Shotgun Mary was always someone who was going to be challenging, not only to the other nuns but also to Ava. We just got lucky, I guess. I wish it was something I could conjure as the showrunner but it really comes down to doing your homework and casting the right people and hoping, since you don't know, that the chemistry will reveal itself on the floor and it did.

RELATED: Warrior Nun Is an Uneven Adaptation Saved By Its Cast

In terms of casting, what made Alba Baptista the perfect Ava? She's got to go super dark but she also gets to cut loose as early as the pilot episode.

Barry: Yeah, that was really the hard work of our casting directors. We had casting directors in the U.S., Spain and England and everybody really worked very hard to find this version of Ava that we had in our minds but we couldn't really articulate the specific person. It was really a bit of luck and hard work combined that we discovered Alba via our U.K. casting in a talent showcase that was going on in Ireland. She's from Portugal, she hadn't really had exposure in the North American market and we asked her to do a couple of auditions on tape and I immediately saw the potential. To me, it was like seeing another Natalie Portman or Alicia Vikander, I was impressed with her ability to grab your attention and deliver an honest performance, even in the confines of an audition. So I was really keen and pushed to get Netflix to approve her as fast as possible.

Of all things you got to inject into this adaptation, what are you most proud of in interpreting this for television?

Barry: Production value would be number one, I wanted the show to feel like it had twice the budget that we had. [Laughs] Even though we had a big mythology and had a lot of effects and big ideas and expensive content, we didn't have the budget that was going to allow us to do it the easy way so we kind of had to take the harder, more creative route and find our opportunities where they were. We're always happy when people go "I got the show, it looks beautiful, it's lush, it looks expensive and well-produced!" That's always something that's at the forefront of your mind when you put this out for the world, that the audience could reject it if it looks badly made. So being in Spain gave us an advantage because Spain has some of the most talented craftspeople that I've ever worked with. The art departments and lightning departments and location teams are just world-class, having their expertise and those people that were part of our Spanish crew.

The other thing would be the soul of the show, which is the writers' room experience. We really wanted to dig down and make the show about sisterhood and about women supporting women in a way that was unique and exciting and challenging and different from any other version that was sort of out there. I think we did accomplish something that was not like any other show. I know there's a comparison to Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the setup but, in terms of the soul of the show, this journey that we take with all these women, who are very independent and unique, and find a way to come together was very satisfying. I think all the care that went into this, with the writing room and directors and the cast, shines through.

In terms of production value, almost every episode has a pretty big action sequence. How was coordinating that and getting the cast to participate?

Barry: It's a challenge! It's definitely the most complicated part of making the show because action sequences, by their very nature, take up more time than other scenes and you're sort of sacrificing the time you have to shoot the show by adding action sequences. But, by the same account, you need them in a show called Warrior Nun because it's a show that demands to have action and you want to make sure they're done well.

So we had a couple of advantages going in in that we had a cast that was game to do a lot of the stunt work; a lot of the cast were involved in the stunts directly and wanted to do those sequences which gave it a sense of realism. And then we had a team in Spain that were from all over Europe that were world-class and just were incredible, not only training the actors to be like stunt people but also, in the cases where we did have doubles, were phenomenally talented and had great choreography and action design ideas.

And then rolling into the visual effects, which were a big part of our action sequences, we had one of the best visual effects companies in the world, The Embassy, who did District 9 and Iron Man. They were instrumental in giving us the scope in some of the sequences we needed, in terms of VFX especially with the demons, that we felt all the pistons were firing on the show; everything was working together. That's what it always comes down to, though. I've worked on several shows now and I've realized that everyone has to work together, you can't have one thing standing out, you need to have everything standing out, that way it works.

RELATED: Warrior Nun: Netflix Drops NSFW Trailer for Its Next Comics Adaptation

I know it's still early days but have you talked to Netflix about developing a potential second season or follow-up and do you have any ideas where that would go?

Barry: We had ideas out of the first season writing room that we thought would be interesting for a second season if we were lucky enough to get one. So yeah, we definitely encourage Netflix to pursue that. They have a very strategic process where if the audience shows up, the second season and third season happens. So we knew that going in and we were going to be part of that process as a new show to find an audience to make sure that could happen. To answer you question, yes, the writers and I discussed at length many ideas for Season 2 and we look forward to being able to implement them.

Based on the comic book series by Ben Dunn, Warrior Nun was developed for television by Simon Barry and stars Alba Baptista and Tristan Ulloa. The series is available to stream now on Netflix.

Baki’s Season 3 Has the Most EXTREME Lockdown Workouts | CBR

With quarantine keeping us all indoors, it's always a good reminder that some of the strongest characters in anime are able to do amazing workouts entirely indoors... though let's be clear, many of these workouts you should not try to do at home. Staying home during social distancing is nowhere near as extreme as being literally locked in to a prison cell, and yet in Season 3 of Baki, literal convicts were able to continue their training and take their strength to the next level.

Sikorsky is using his time in prison to train himself since his brutal defeat by Gaia, the master of environment. Sikorsky works on increasing his already immense grip strength or pinching power as is mentioned in the anime. According to the guards, he clings to a completely flat wall until he falls asleep and then apparently stays clinched to it until morning. If he’s sleeping as long as he should that is close to eight hours of clinging to a flat frictionless wall, with just his fingers, every night.

RELATED: Marvel’s Shang Chi Star Simu Liu Shares Surprising MCU Quarantine Workout

Doyle went to prison after being blinded by Yanagi and brought back to prison by Biscuit Oliva, and realized his sense of sound was made much stronger by the loss of his vision. At some point during his prison sentence, he ruptured his ear drums to gain a keen sense of touch. While his work-outs aren't shown on-screen, it's clear he's been working out since his body looks bigger than before, specifically his arms. Training his new sense of touch was one of his highest priorities, as evidenced by when he grabs a bat out of the air by feeling the vibrations.

Dorian, who remains in his childlike state of mind after being hit by Retsu, continues his "training" in a rather unusual way. Dorian holds a deep sitting stance, until he finishes an overflowing bowl of hard candy, while painting portraits of candy. In the first scene showing the candy bowl, it looked slightly eaten, and it’s stated he does this every day. The bowl is later seen finished when it's dark out, so it’s safe to assume he’s doing this for a full day. This stance led to the severe growth of his leg muscles.

Spec has regained his muscle. Though he still remains bedridden, from scans of his body, Police Captain Morio can see that Spec is actually moving his muscles in a way that simulates someone swimming in a viscous liquid all day long. Morio can even tell that due to the movement of the muscles Spec is simulating the Butterfly stroke, the most difficult and tiring of any swimming stroke.

It must be reiterated: do not try these extreme work-outs at home. That said, if these characters could pull this off in prison, there's no reason you can't get buff like an anime character working out from the comfort of your own home.

My Hero Academia - Class 1-A's Best Costumes, Ranked | CBR

$

Inspired by Western superhero comics, My Hero Academia features some pretty incredible and memorable character designs and costume. While a costume is essential for any superhero, not all looks are created equal. In this video, we're going to go through and rank the best costumes of U.A. High School's Class 1-A.

We're starting with Toru Hagakure/Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl. Her Quirk makes her completely transparent, and clothing can still be seen if she wears it. This means that she had to pursue something simple when it comes to her costume, which is just gloves and shoes. By taking those off, she's completely invisible, allowing her to go incognito with ease. While Toru does have a pretty great Quirk, it also necessitates that her costume not be particularly stellar, so it's at the bottom of our list.

RELATED: The Ahoge: Anime's Most Popular... Hair Accessory?

The next character we're going to talk about is Minoru Mineta, Class 1-A's resident pervert. His Quirk allows him to remove the balls growing from his head and stick them to any surface, which is where he gets his hero alias: Fresh-Picked Hero: Grape Juice. His purple spandex suit and yellow cape work well for his motif, but otherwise it's pretty bland and uninspiring. There are far, far better costumes in My Hero Academia.

Check out the video below to find where even more of the most beloved heroes of Class 1-A fall in our rankings.

My Hero Academia has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2014, and there are over 270 chapters available, as of writing. The series proved so popular that it received a spinoff, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. The manga was turned into an anime that premiered in 2016. Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me Resonates For Major Reasons

$
0
0

Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me, written by Mariko Tamaki and art by Rosemary Valero-O'Connell, was the break out coming of age graphic novel of 2019. It has been nominated for three of Eisner Awards and a GLAAD Media Award, but this isn't a surprise given how the writing accurately portrays what it's like to go through the hardships of first love, friendship and identity as a teen in a way that resonates with everyone, regardless of age, gender or sexuality. Along with this, the art style captures the innocence of adolescents with its pastel pinks and simple yet expressive faces, making this graphic novel resonate even more, especially with the themes it addresses.

For so long, most LGBTQ narratives, especially ones focused on teenagers, have been about the protagonist having to come out, however, this graphic novel starts in a position where Freddy, the protagonist, and Laura Dean, her on again off again girlfriend, are already out. The coming out narrative, while many readers can empathize with it, is tiresome, limiting too many queer stories to this single portrayal. While coming out is a universal story for many LGBTQ people, and many people have different experiences coming out, the queer experience is more than this moment. Furthermore, LGBTQ teens are more than their sexualities, so they are also experiencing "typical" high school things along with their personal journeys, and Laura Dean blends Freddy's queer narrative with her high school narrative in a way that creates a unique yet universal coming of age of story.

RELATED: Weekend Webcomics: The Tapas Pride Collection is Fantastic

Along with stripping away the coming out narrative, the graphic novel also never has sexuality be a part of the conflict. While the central issue is about Laura Dean stringing Freddy along, this is a Laura Dean problem, not a queer problem. Furthermore, every character in this comic accepts each others' identities, and when tensions rise between friends, it is because of their personal issues, never their sexualities. Not only does this allow LGBTQ fans an opportunity to read something where their sexualities are not the root of any conflicts, but this also is a better, more optimistic look at teens, young adults and parents of this generation, who are largely more accepting than earlier generations. Even though acceptance is not norm everywhere, this comic shows how it should be.

As the title indicates, Laura Dean and Freddy have a rocky relationship. Despite Laura Dean cheating on Freddy, gaslighting her and focusing only on herself, never on her partner, Freddy can't let Laura Dean go. It doesn't help that Freddy, despite all the signs, puts Laura Dean on a pedestal. On both ends, the relationship is toxic, with one partner being selfish and the other being hyper fixated. The thing that stands out about this relationship is it shows the more insidious sides of a toxic, co-dependent relationship by having Freddy isolated from her friends, doubt her worth and forced to be Laura Dean's source of stability without Laura Dean offering the same. Along with showing why dynamics like this are unhealthy too young readers, who - like Freddy - are just starting to date, the comic also shows how the person who wants out of the relationship needs to be the one to cut ties because waiting for the other to end it prolongs the pain.

RELATED: DC Bombshells is the Perfect Superhero Read for Pride

As mentioned above, one of the tolls of this relationship is that it separates Freddy from her friends, which leads to Doodle feeling abandoned. Doodle is going through the hardest time of her life, deciding to terminate her pregnancy. From pursuing an affair with a grown man to having to ending the pregnancy, Doodle is going through a lot that even adults would struggle with, and these sorts of subjects do not often get depicted in young adult media, despite teens facing these issues in reality without having all the proper resources or education. However, as the comic shows, Doodle isn't alone; her family makes sure she has every option available; meanwhile, Freddy and her make amends, and Doodle has the support she needs during this difficult time. This depiction of teen pregnancy and abortion is positive because it shows how important it is to have discussions about these serious issues with teens, and it destigmatize abortion itself.

By the end of the graphic novel, readers see a liberated Freddy. While her love for Laura Dean was real, even though the relationship only became more codependent and toxic as time went by, her life is not over with the break up. In fact, he future looks brighter than ever because she is once again with her friends, who bring out the real her, instead of forcing her to fit into someone else's world. Joker: The Clown Prince Of Crime's BEST Disguises EVER | CBR

Despite his distinct appearance and memorable gimmicks, the Joker has actually proven to be a fairly effective master of disguise over the years. He's even been able to slip right under the nose of Batman, the world's greatest detective.

Here are the best disguises the Joker has used during his criminal escapades.

RELATED: Batman Just Faced Joker's Most DIABOLICAL Plot Ever

The original Golden Age version of the Joker has a habit of using other disguises and false names to hide his identity and intentions. These include hiding in plain sight as A. Rekoj, a music store operator who allows his business to be used as a front for criminal ventures. After hiring men to steal for him, he resumes his identity as the Joker and steals the entire prize from them, leaving them confused as to how the Joker knew of the robbery in the first place.

In another criminal escapade, he poses as a visiting nobleman in a bid to make off with a great deal of aid provided by the Gotham populace.

These disguises often give the Joker a brief advantage in his criminal attempts, but each is in turn foiled by Batman and Robin. It was also during this period that the concept of the Red Hood was introduced, revealing Joker had used a separate, criminal identity before the fateful night he fell into the acid at Ace Chemicals and was transformed into the Joker.

After seemingly dying during the events of Batman R.I.P, the Joker briefly goes into hiding. Disguising himself as the famed British journalist Oberon Sexton (who Joker had buried alive with his dead wife), Joker indulges in Sexton's masked persona as a gravedigger to hide his appearance from people such as the new Batman. He briefly works with Dick Grayson while he serves as Batman and seems to throw his hand into an investigation into the Black Glove -- despite misgivings from Robin, who notes something is off.

At the time, Joker is also secretly operating as the "Domino Killer," a mysterious figure targeting the members of the Black Glove and assassinating them with otherwise mundane tactics. Realizing the clues left by the murders point towards a series of jokes, Grayson eventually confronts Sexton -- who gleefully reveals his true identity. Joker is quickly taken into custody, with the rest of the Gotham Police Department shocked they'd fallen for his trick.

Re-donning the Sexton costume, Joker later confronts Thomas Hurt head-on and tricks him into breaking his neck after slipping on a banana peel.

After failing to fully destroy the Bat-Family in "Death of the Family," the Joker goes into hiding. This allows Batman to become more distracted and concerned with other threats, giving Joker plenty of time to develop a new persona. He re-emerges as Eric Border, a new orderly at Arkham Asylum. Hiding his permanent smile with muscle relaxants and his pale skin with makeup, Eric establishes himself as a kindly and supportive figure in Arkham.

He even becomes something of an ally to Batman, lulling the Dark Knight into a false sense of security from which he is able to operate in secret and manipulate Gotham into place for his grandest scheme ever. He quietly set traps across the city and even terrifies patients into believing him to be some special form of supernatural monster.

Joker finally reveals himself at the beginning of the "Endgame" story arc. He lures Batman into the closed ruins of the former Arkham Asylum and traps him there, giving Joker time to move to the next part of his plan.

A Vero user recently brought up the first trailer to Snyder and asked if it would feature the song "Come Together" by the Beatles, which was played during one trailer for 2017's Justice League. In response, Snyder commented, "I have something better." However, the director didn't go into any further details, leaving many in the comments guessing as to what Snyder meant.

10 Awesome Vocaloid Cosplay We Absolutely Love | CBR

$

Vocaloids have some of the most fun outfits of any animated characters around today. They’re both meant to appear together, as a singing group, so their outfits make them look like a team, a la the Sailor Scouts in Sailor Moon. But they also have individual looks as well as a good deal of costumes and outfits that they appear in outside of the looks with which they’d perform on stage.

Related: The 10 Best Anime Musicals, Ranked (According To IMDB)

This gives cosplayers myriad options for what kinds of cosplay they might want to do, along with several characters to choose from as well. There’s no shortage of amazing Vocaloid cosplay to come out of the fandom. Here are ten of the best Vocaloid cosplays out there. Be sure to follow these amazing cosplayers on Instagram!

10 Schoolgirl Gumi By Sewzie_Cosplay

This cosplayer has created a getup for Gumi that is reminiscent of the famous Japanese schoolgirl looks. She dressed in a short black pleated skirt, along with a white collared shirt with cuffed sleeves. She wears a brightly colored bow tied around her neck as a tie.

The look is very playful and fun, just as the character is. Her green wig tops off the look, making her perfectly recognizable as Gumi, both with its color and with the unique hairstyle.

9 Miku Hatsune By Cha.Coser

Miku Hatsune is the most famous of the Vocaloids. She was the first one to be created, and she’s actually recognizable worldwide, which not a lot of Japanese and anime-adjacent characters are. This cosplayer has created a really amazing version of her most iconic look.

She has a keyboard motif along the skirt and on her sleeves, along with a Vocaloid pack on her back. She also recreated Miku’s iconic cat ears headset.

8 Len By Renanjamin

Rin and Len are two characters who often appear together and are the male and female counterparts of the same Vocaloid program. This cosplayer is cosplaying as Len, the male counterpart.

They’ve done a great job reproducing the look of Len’s hair, which is messy and sticks out in different directions. They also managed to give their eyes the big-eyed look that the Vocaloids all have through the use of contacts and makeup.

7 Miku In Senbonzakura By Qualitea_Cosplay

“Senbonzakura” is one of Miku’s most popular songs. In the music video, she appears in a military-styled uniform, complete with a vintage-style army hat and medals pinned to the jacket.

This cosplayer has recreated the look to a T, even going so far as to wear a perfectly pleated skirt and to add a sakura blossom motif to the long sleeves.

6 Nurse Gumi By Bigdaddyfrancu

This cosplayer has chosen to do a Gumi cosplay with her dressed as a nurse. All of the little details on this cosplay really make it fun. The outfit itself is incredibly old-fashioned, and it’s unlikely nurses anywhere still dress like this, with the Peter Pan collar and headdress.

Even more notable are the adorable syringe earrings, in case it wasn’t totally obvious she’s a nurse.

5 Miku’s Anime Eyes By Marinatinker

This cosplayer really went for it on pushing the slightly unrealistic and artificial nature of what Miku looks like. She used heavy black mascara and white eyeliner to give the impression that she has very wide eyes.

Related: The 10 Best Mecha Anime of The 2000s, Ranked According To IMDb

This is aided also by the bright blue contacts that she’s wearing that are slightly bigger than the size of most irises.

4 Luka By Silversun.Cos

This Luka cosplay goes for the “Senbonzakura” version of her look. This is a reference to a Miku song of the same name and the outfit that Luka wears when she appears in the music video.

She also carries drinks on a tray in the video, ready to serve refreshments to her friends as they all get ready to look at the cherry blossoms.

3 Snow Miku By Bibimooncosplays

As mentioned earlier, the Vocaloids have a lot of different outfits and are pretty much prepared for any occasion.

In this cosplayer’s case, she has recreated Miku’s snow look, which is a wintery outfit that probably wouldn’t keep anyone warm but would definitely get in the wintertime spirit. The cute snowflakes on her ribbons really push the time of year Miku might wear this look.

2 Kaito By Juvanixx_Project

It’s easy to forget that there are also a bunch of boy Vocaloids as well as the girls everyone is used to seeing. Kaito is one such Vocaloid, and this cosplayer has done a great job of recreating his look.

He’s got that shiny, motorcycle jacket in its futuristic colors, plus the perfectly shaped wig and delicate eye makeup that really make him look like a pop idol.

1 Classic Miku By Spikeloid

This is another great example of Miku’s original well-known outfit. This cosplayer has made it even more of a futuristic look by using shiny fabrics that fans might be used to seeing in sci-fi and space shows and movies.

It gives her a cool cybergoth aesthetic while still maintaining the incredible cuteness that Miku is known for.

DC: 10 Powers You Didn't Know Mera Had | CBR

$
0
0

When it comes to DC characters, Aquaman and those tied to him are often the most disrespected. By default, that includes his wife, Mera. To some, she is nothing more than that, his wife and queen of Atlantis. Those people would be incredibly wrong, discounting just how strong a character she is.

RELATED: Aquaman Vs. Mera: Who Would Win?

She isn't just a character that can talk to fish or swim fast. She's more akin to a female Poisedon, someone who truly rules the seas. Anyone who's dared to try to wrestle control of Atlantis from her or her husband can attest to just how much power she possesses. There's a reason she's a queen.

10 Superhuman Strength

She's not ever going to be confused with the Hulk, but Mera possesses far more strength than many realize. She could easily lift upwards of 70 tons, a feat that is far from small. There was even a moment when she was able to lift an entire section of an Atlantean ship, crew, and all.

It's pretty impressive for a character who used to be no more than either a damsel in distress or Aquaman's wife, having zero characters beyond that. It's nice to see she'd branched beyond those days, just as many female characters from the olden days have.

9 Superhuman Swimming

This shouldn't be too surprising considering she lives underwater and is one of the premier characters that do so. What may surprise is just how well she can swim, her speed at the same level as Aquaman. In fact, her max speed has never even been recorded as she can cruise at a cool 300 miles per hour.

If that's just cruising around, could you imagine how fast she could be if she had to be somewhere? It'd feel like a missile was cutting through the water.

8 Superhuman Leaping

Leaping from the water is an ability often tied to dolphins and at times, mermaids, both of which tie in well with Mera. Like Aquaman, she's capable of leaping great distances on both lands and at sea.

RELATED: DC: 5 Marvel Villains Mera Would Get Along (& 5 She Would Hate)

She's even once been able to leap so high into the air that she was able to board a moving plane. That's an incredible feat and one that is hard to wrap your head around. The amount of precision that would take to pull off is rather astounding.

7 Superhuman Durability

Her armor helps in this regard, scales on it giving her more than a bit of extra protection. Even without it, she's highly resistant to physical attacks, especially those of the blunt variety. She's also been able to withstand large objects being thrown at her, as well as falling from great heights without showing any sign of injury.

She's a literal sponge for damage, often taking it without so much as flinching in the face of her foe. When you consider some of the monstrous foes that Aquaman has, this power is almost necessary.

6 Adaptability

Everyone knows how adapted to living underwater Mera is, but she's just as proficient when she's on land, being able to breathe without any difficulties at all. Even underwater, she's able to withstand high pressures and extreme temperatures in the deep, just as a Xebelian should.

Her whole body seems capable of becoming adaptable to her surroundings, no matter what it is they seem to be. This gives her quite the edge when dealing with the array of foes Aquaman has.

5 Immortality

So many characters nowadays seem to have this power, from Hulk gaining it somewhat recently to all the characters that had it before. Immortality isn't quite the rare company that it used to be, however, it's still a power that Mera possesses.

RELATED: DC: 10 Things That Make No Sense About Mera

Her life span has been lengthed indefinitely, allowing her to hold onto her beauty without the worry of it degrading or withering away. It's one of the many perks that come with being an Atlantean queen.

4 Water Manipulation

Mera's powers go beyond just being able to swim fast and breathe underwater. She's able to manipulate the element herself, using it as she sees fit. The ways she can do this varies, using it in your typical ways, such as forming weapons or shields. She can also use it in a more atypical fashion, like pulling water out of another person.

The latter of which was even used on the Flash at one point, draining him to the point of dehydration, thus rendering his power moot. She can even manage to sense when water is near.

3 Leadership

Given that she's a queen, you'd hope she'd have some form of leadership quality, and she does, perhaps even more so than Aquaman himself. She's shown a high aptitude in coming up with battle plans when Atlantis has come under siege from its various foes.

She also has the most key aspect of being a leader, selfless care for her people. You always need that if you're going to be in charge of others, always putting their needs before your own.

2 Telepathy

This is a pre-flashpoint power that's mostly faded away in the current canon. The telepathy itself wasn't even of the highest quality. She wasn't underwater Jean Grey or anything close to that. Hers was a far more light form, letting her communicate with fellow Atlanteans and little else.

It's a useful little power to have in the heat of battle and one that wouldn't be all that big of a stretch to bring back if they wanted to given Arthur's ability to speak to animals.

1 Red Lantern

She along with many heroes were made a temporary member of a lanterns corp during the Blackest Night storyline. Red happen to be what chose Mera, all the rage and anger she'd felt exploding out of her, amplifying her power exponentially. She gained all of the powers they have, from projections to their ability to drain other lanterns of their powers in combat.

It made her extremely dangerous, and for the sake of those around her, was not a long-lasting effect. She lost her ring once Arthur returned to the land of the living, an act that almost killed her.

5 DC Couples With The Same First Appearance In Comics (& 5 That Came Much Later)

Comic collectors always keep an eye out for key issues that they can snag at a cheaper price than normal. For the most part, the first appearances of major characters allow the opportunity to make bank as a seller or significantly improve your collection as a buyer. As an example, Action Comics #1, Superman's first appearance, once sold for a whopping 3.2 million dollars on eBay.

RELATED: 10 Most Powerful Couples in the DC Universe, Ranked | CBR

Additionally, the more important characters appear in one issue, the more valuable it is. This is where romantic pairings come in, as their apperances in DC Comics are celebrated by collects and fans alike. Thing is, not all of these couples appeared at the same time - in fact, some love interests appeared much later. Here are five DC pairings that appeared in the same issue and five more who did so separately.

10 APPEARED TOGETHER: Barry Allen & Iris West

The Silver Age kicked off when Barry Allen came racing through the pages of Showcase #4. This is the very first time readers are introduced to the geeky forensic scientist, who, while working late one night in his lab, was struck by lightning and thrown into shelves of chemicals. Instead of being dead, Barry gained super speed, and quickly ran to a date he was already late to.

This date was none other than the iconic Iris West. Iris and Barry are two of the most devoted people throughout the DC Universe, as their love is strong enough to serve as a lightning rod, something that anchors Barry to his identity as he travels through the Speed Force.

9 APPEARED SEPARATELY: Mister Miracle & Big Barda

Son of the Highfather of New Genesis, Mister Miracle was traded to Darkseid with his son, Orion, as an attempt to broker a peace treaty between the planet and Apokolips. In the pages of Mister Miracle #1, Scott traveled to Earth and trained to become the greatest escape artist in the universe. He took on the stage name of his mentor, and became Mister Miracle.

Big Barda appeared three issues later. A former member of the Female Furies, she fell in love with Scott when she felt he had an inner peace inside him, unfamiliar to Apokolips. She turned her back on Apokolips and the two were married on Earth.

8 APPEARED TOGETHER: Green Lantern & Carol Ferris

Another major Silver Age hero, Hal Jordan first appeared in Showcase #22, where he worked as a test pilot for Ferris Aircrafts. While on a test flight, Jordan discovered an alien crash site, and did his best to help the dying visitor, Abin Sur. The alien informed Hal that he had great willpower, and the ability to overcome great fear, making him worthy as his successor as Green Lantern of Sector 2814.

While Hal had gotten the ability to create anything he wanted, the owner of the plane was worried sick. Carol Ferris was the daughter of the CEO of Ferris Aircrafts, and her and Hal always had something between them. While Hal can definitely be a playboy, it's clear enough that he is head over heels in love with Carol, and Carol's feelings for him earned her a spot on the Star Sapphire Corps, the lanterns of love.

7 APPEARED SEPARATELY: Batman & Catwoman

There probably isn't a more "will they, won't they?" relationship in comic books. In Detective Comics 27, Batman is introduced and revealed to be Bruce Wayne, a billionaire whose parents were murdered when he was a child. He vow to wage a one man war against all crime, trying to ensure that what he had to go through never happens to another kid ever again.

RELATED: The 10 Best Batman Suits We Saw In The 90s, Ranked

So, why would he fall for a criminal? When Batman got his own title, she was one of the first villains to face off against him, but she was always extremely flirty, which Batman eventually reciprocated. The two had a cat-and-mouse type of relationship before becoming romantically involved. Their wedding was the biggest comic event to never happen in 2018.

6 APPEARED TOGETHER: Wonder Woman & Steve Trevor

Since her first appearance in All Star Comics #8, Wonder Woman has served as a major feminist icon and symbol of female empowerment. The daughter of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, Diana was raised to be wary of Man's World, and lived a peaceful life without men on her paradise island of Themyscira. That is until a WWII plane crash on their beach.

Out walked pilot Steve Trevor, who was very shocked to be greeted with swords in a Greco-Roman utopia. After learning of the horrors of what was going on outside the island, Hippolyta held a competition to determine who would become their ambassador to Man's world. Disguised, Diana crushed every competition, and earned the title of Wonder Woman.

5 APPEARED SEPARATELY: Wally West & Linda Park

Wally West made his first appearance in The Flash 110. The nephew of Iris, Wally met her boyfriend Barry at his lab. Being a huge fan of The Flash, Barry pretended to go call him over while he changed into his costume. Wally's life changed when he was struck by lightning and doused with the same chemicals Barry was, giving him the same powers. As Kid Flash, Wally was a member of the Teen Titans, and after revealing his identity to the world, took his uncle's mantle after his sacrifice.

RELATED: Flash: 10 Wally West Fan Art Pictures That Are Too Good

As The Flash, Wally was a major playboy, until he met hard-hitting reporter Linda Park, who was not impressed with his antics. After encountering each other through a few stressful situations, the two realized they had feelings for each other. Linda and Wally married and had twins.

4 APPEARED TOGETHER: Hawkman & Hawkgirl

Hawkman and Hawkgirl are literal soulmates, so it makes sense they first appeared together in Flash Comics #1. In Ancient Egypt, Prince Khufu and his consort Chay-Ara were murdered by the traitorous priest Hath Set. In the '40s, Khufu was reincarnated as archaeologist Carter Hall, whereas Chay-Ara became Sheira Sanders.

The two use the mythical component Nth metal to craft frames that fit large wings and a gravity defying belt. After finding each other and falling in love again, they joined the Justice Society of America and eventually the Justice League.

3 APPEARED SEPARATELY: Aquaman & Mera

Aquaman is usually seen as a lame character, but he cool way before Jason Momoa portrayed him. First appearing in More Fun Comics #73, Orin, or Arthur Curry, is the son of the Queen of Atlantis and a lighthouse keeper. After taking back his throne, Arthur serves as a bridge between the surface world and the kingdom of Atlantis. Besides his telepathic powers, he is near invulnerable, fast, strong, and has a powerful trident.

His Queen, Mera, was introduced in Aquaman #11. The princess of Xebel, she was originally supposed to assassinate the King of Atlantis, but the two fell in love. She became queen of Atlantis and using her hydrokinetic powers, protects Atlantis and surface dwellers from countless threats with her husband.

2 APPEARED TOGETHER: Superman & Lois Lane

As mentioned earlier, Superman first took flight in Action Comics #1, serving as the world's first superhero. Raised on a strong and virtuous upbringing by the Kents, Clark decided he was not going to be flashy, and wanted to keep his powers and private life a secret. Besides the glasses, he was purposefully clumsy, slouched a lot, arrived late to work, and often seemed unkempt.

This did not impress Lois Lane, the woman he was in love with. Instead of realizing Clark disappeared whenever Superman showed up, she assumed he was a coward. After countless date requests, they finally went out, and quickly fell in love. The two are definitely the most iconic superhero couple, and nearly every comic couple after has taken inspiration from these two.

1 APPEARED SEPARATELY: Green Arrow & Black Canary

In More Fun Comics #73, Ollie was nothing more than a Robin Hood rip-off. Updated origins turned him into a billionaire whose yacht crashed on a remote island, where he mastered archery to survive.

Dinah Lance first appeared in Justice League of America #75, where she auditioned for a role on the team, showcasing her martial arts skills and the earsplitting canary cry. She met Ollie through the team, and the two became extremely close, eventually romantically.

MBTI®: 10 Marvel Superheroes Who Are ENTPs | CBR

$

According to the Myers-Briggs personality test, those who fall under the ENTP indicator are extroverted, intuitive thinkers. They're willing to debate something if they feel it's the right thing to do or for the fun of it. In other words, their characteristics are similar to those of Sheldon Cooper.

RELATED: MBTI®: 10 Anime Characters Who Are ENTPs

The Marvel Universe is chock full of ENTPs. So much so, they gathered together at one point to save the Earth. For a sample of these folks, here are 10 Marvel superheroes who are ENTPs.

10 Charles Xavier

Care to have an extensive debate about mutants living among homo-sapiens? Look no further than Charles Xavier. He'll talk your ear off about it and why it's so important not to separate his people. Then, he'll describe ways you can help his cause.

As part of his ENTP membership, Xavier will also be honest with you. He's an astute observer of human behavior. Plus, he can read minds. So, he knows when you're lying.

9 Hank Pym

Hank is willing to admit his mistakes -- the creation of Ultron, for example. Nevertheless, he'll debate on why it felt like a good idea at the time. It's not a defense of his actions, mind you. It's his way to show there was a potential for good.

He isn't afraid to get into someone's face when he knows his cause is just. During House of M, Hank got into it with Hank McCoy on the demise of the human race. Not something one would normally do when speaking with a mutant.

8 Squirrel Girl

There are those who believe Squirrel Girl is a third-rate Marvel superhero. First, she has her own comic book, so that eliminates the above reasoning. Second, because she's an ENTP, SG is one of the most

RELATED: 5 DC Heroes Squirrel Girl Would Defeat (& 5 She Would Lose Against)

She's one of the happiest heroes in the Marvel Universe. On top of that, she's a total geek. Squirrel Girl would rather get a selfie with Thanos than fight him. If it did come down to potential fisticuffs, she would talk the menace down before a punch was thrown.

7 She-Hulk

As a lawyer, Jen Walters has to be a successful debater. If not, she'd lose every case. So, she has to be ready to defend her client with the utmost priority. Plus, she has to do it without beating someone up.

Besides this, the woman who is She-Hulk is an ENTP because she's an extrovert. She could probably be a spokesperson for the personality indicator due to this trait. This characteristic even allowed her to speak to the comic book audience.

6 Reed Richards

Mr. Fantastic is distracted at times, particularly when he comes up with a brilliant idea. This is good because ENTPs have problems staying focused once they start a project. They have other ideas floating around they want to accomplish.

When his mind is clear, Reed will debate you on anything. There have been plenty of times Ben Grimm has stepped away in a huff because Reed wouldn't falter in his opinion. It makes him a fine leader of the Fantastic Four.

5 Black Panther

It's hard to lead a technologically advanced city-state if you aren't familiar with what's available. Fortunately, T'Challa has that capability. All of Wakanda's citizens do. Not only are they warriors, but they're also intellectuals.

RELATED: MBTI®: 10 Marvel Superheroes Who Are ENTJs

When he's not ruling or fighting crime as Black Panther, T'Challa will debate you over any subject you choose. If it involves Wakanda and race in any way, you will lose if you don't open your mind. However, if you come up with a good idea during the discussion, he'll help create the plans and let his technicians finish the task.

4 Immortal Hulk

Bruce Banner was an idea person before he absorbed that Gamma radiation. Now that he's the Immortal Hulk, Bruce has the power to back up his ENTP characteristics. It might seem like a good idea, however, it's become frightening in his current form.

Bruce's mind is so full right now that he needs allies to keep him on task. Still, he's willing to hear the other side of things. That's what a scientist does. They develop a theory, then they seek ways to prove or discredit the hypothesis. Bruce does this today, except he intimidates the hypothesis to be true.

3 Vision

As a synthetic being, Vision has both intellect and emotions. Yet, he tries to remain a neutral party in most conversations. However, when he feels strongly about something, he'll argue his cause. Even with someone like Captain America.

Unlike other ENTPs, Vision has the capability of coming up with the idea and implementing it. He involves people like Beast or Tony when necessary. On top of this, he's also an intense observer of human characteristics. It's one of the ways he works to become more human. In essence, Vision is similar to Star Trek's Data.

2 Namor

Namor is an ENTP because he's brutally honest with everyone. He's not ashamed to tell them Atlantis should be the center of Earth's government. Nor is he abashed to show his affections for Sue Storm (Invisible Girl) while Reed is standing next to them.

RELATED: The 10 Worst Times Namor Has Betrayed His Friends

Namor figuratively steps on the toes of those that can help him, however, he doesn't care. He plows through to complete his agenda. It's the one way he keeps focused when so much goes on around him.

1 Nightcrawler

Before he became a member of the X-Men, Kurt was an involuntary introvert. His resemblance to a demon caused others to shun him. However, he revealed his ENTP traits once he became Nightcrawler of the X-Men.

In this role, Kurt uses a variation of true debate. Instead of arguing for his cause, he defends the unity of the X-Men. He tends to be a deescalating factor when internal situations start to boil. Overall, the X-Men would still be fractured if not for Nightcrawler's influences.
