For fans of the My Hero Academia anime, Shota Aizawa is kind of an enigma at this point. Fans are aware that despite only having the ability to deactivate another person’s quirk, he is still incredibly capable on the battlefield (as the witnessed when the League of Villains invaded UA).

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Things You Didn't Know About The League Of Villains

But beyond that, not much is known about the erasing hero’s past or how he even became a hero in the first place. But for any fans looking to get a clearer vision of just who exactly Mr. Aizawa is and how he became the hero he is currently in My Hero Academia, look no further. Spoilers for the anime and manga ahead.

10 Present Mic Gave Him The Name Eraser Head

Through Mangaka Kohei Horikoshi’s work on My Hero Academia, fans all around the world have been introduced to some of the most unique and stunning superheroes to have ever landed in fiction. In My Hero Academia, fans are introduced to UA, the school that is meant to teach the next generation of heroes.

In the series, fans watch on in glee as the young heroes beginning crafting their superhero personas beginning with their superhero names, which they choose for themselves in class. However, when Aizawa was in school, and still unsure of himself, it was a young Present Mic that actually gave him the name Eraser Head.

9 He’s A Cat Person

Coming as a surprise to absolutely no one, Shota Aizawa is actually a cat person. In fact, when he was younger, it was a chance meeting with a cat that would help to affirm him as the talented hero that he would one day become. After running into a stray cat while making his way towards the school on a rainy day, Aizawa would stop and leaving his umbrella for the poor young cat left out in the rain.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Denki Kaminari

Not knowing what else to do, since he was already on his way to school, Aizawa would make his way to school in the rain without an umbrella. His friend Oboro would later arrive late to school carrying the same stray cat Aizawa had left behind in the rain.

8 He Wasn’t Always Sure About Becoming A Hero

After the incident with the cat, and seeing how his friend, Oboro, had acted more heroically than Aizawa himself had, Aizawa was left unsure of whether or not he could actually become a hero. If he couldn’t even manage to save a poor little cat from the rain, then what could he possibly do when it came to handling real trouble?

His quirk wasn’t as strong as some of the others in his class and, at this point, there wasn’t much he could do by himself. But Oboro and his friend Hizashi (the young Present Mic) were there to reassure that he could become a great hero someday if he believed in himself.

7 His Friend Oboro Shirakumo Gave Him His Googles

After being taken on by His Purple Highness, along with his friend Oboro, for their work-study, Shota begins doing some basic patrols with Oboro, hoping to help out and get some experience wherever they can. However, after their first run-in with a burglar who is capable of releasing smoke from his body, Aizawa is left essentially useless and the burglar escapes much to the dismay of everyone on Aizawa’s side.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Things You Never Knew About Tenya Iida

Though Aizawa feels awful about what happened, Oboro takes him aside and asks him what he could do better under those same (or similar) circumstances. After a short discussion, Oboro decides to let Aizawa borrow his goggles as he knows that the will stop the young Aizawa from being blinded should they meet the burglar again.

6 Oboro Is Also The One Who First Suggested Aizawa Work With Kids

During their time working for His Purple Highness, Oboro and Aizawa spend a lot of time together during their best to become better heroes. One day, as they are escorting the young children to their school, Oboro takes notice of how careful and considerate Aizawa is when he interacts with the young children they are escorting.

It is after they begin dropping off the children that Oboro tells Aizawa that he was great with the children and should consider a career where he works with younger kids. Though Aizawa doesn’t feel the same way, Oboro’s insight is proved correct when a child comes to say goodbye to Aizawa personally.

5 He Lost His Best Friend (Oboro) During His First Big Bout With The Villain Garvey

It is almost immediately after they drop the children off at their school that Aizawa and Oboro are told to evacuate the area as the villain Garvey is in the area wreaking havoc.

As they get to the school, just in time, Oboro uses his quirk, Cloud, which allows him to create clouds dense enough to carry weight, to stop the building from collapsing on the young children. Though he is unable to keep the rubble from falling on himself.

4 After Which He Proceded To Defeat Garvey All Alone

With his mentor, His Purple Highness down for the count, and his friend Oboro (unbeknownst to Aizawa at the time) dead, Aizawa does everything he can to stop Garvey in his tracks. Though Aizawa is still having trouble being confident as a hero, he hears Oboro’s voice cheering him on.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Things You Didn't Notice About The New Season's Opening

With Oboro cheering him on, Aizawa manages to take down the villain that took down his mentor all alone and rushes to find Oboro. Though, when he arrives at the location where Oboro was last seen, all he sees is his friend being carried away in a body bag.

3 After Oboro’s Death, Aizawa Withdraws Into Himself Almost Entirely

After the death of his friend Oboro, the friend that had helped him through every step of his hero’s journey, that he had made plans to open a pro hero firm with after graduating UA, Aizawa became very withdrawn. He stopped socializing altogether and while his grades were actually above average, he began to focus solely on combat training.

Though his teachers worried about the young boy, there wasn’t much that they could do to help the young Aizawa who was clearly experiencing a great deal of pain.

2 Midnight Is The Hero That Actually Pushed Aizawa Into Becoming A Teacher

After graduating from UA, Aizawa goes into business for himself and becomes a hero focused solely on combating villains. After some time, and some success, Aizawa bumps into Midnight, with whom he had previously worked up His Purple Highness. Midnight informs him that she has been personally requested by UA’s principal to become a teacher at the school and remarks that Aizawa should consider becoming a teacher as well.

Though Aizawa again disagrees, remarking he likely wouldn’t be any good with the students, Midnight submits a referral on his behalf (without his knowledge) and he is accepted as a teacher at UA.

1 Aizawa Meets All Might After A Raid On The Villain Factory

At a certain point in his career, Aizawa is convinced (again, by Midnight) to begin working with the police, as the instances of villain attacks he drastically shot up. After discovering that Onumura Pharma Corp has been creating a drug, Trigger, which boosts the abilities of weak quirks, the police alongside the heroes organize a raid on the facility that has been manufacturing the villains.

Though he doesn’t know it, in the aftermath of this raid, Aizawa will meet Toshinori Yagi for the very first time. Though he is still unaware that he is the hero All Might.

10 Pokémon Vs Digimon Battles We'd Love To See | CBR

Both Pokémon and Digimon have been competing in the same markets since their launches in 1998. While certain aspects have been borrowed here and there, they operate as two different franchises well. Pokémon is all about catching and training them all to be the very best. Digimon is about saving the world with your best friend who happens to be a digital monster.

RELATED: The 10 Best Pokémon Movies, Ranked According To IMDb

While their origins were based on different influences, with Pokémon’s being bug catching and Digimon’s being Tamagotchi, they both have a heavy focus on battles. The Pokémon and Digimon in this list have been chosen based on popularity, power, and just how cool the battles could be, so imagine along with us as we look at 10 battles we’d like to see.

10 Cubone vs Terriermon

Cubone, the saddest Pokémon, and Terriermon, the spinning rabbit Digimon, have quite a few things in common. They are both relatively basic in their designs, but both of them have devoted followings and major story bits.

Terriermon makes two major appearances across Digimon canon, once as Willis’ partner for Digimon: The Movie and as Henry’s partner for Digimon Tamers. Cubone has the whole Lavender Town story with his dead mother that has made at least half of us cry.

This fight would likely end the same way as the Pikachu vs Pikatwo fight in the first Pokémon movie, with them crying and weakly slapping each other, though Cubone would use a bone and Terriermon would use its ears.

9 Lucario vs Leomon

Leomon is a true warrior and needed an opponent that could keep fighting until their last breaths. Lucario and Leomon are notable because they have both died in their respective series. Aaron’s Lucario passes on at the end of Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Leomon dies at least once every few years, enough that his deaths are a meme.

Leomon has a bit of an advantage in height, but Lucario makes up for that with his high speeds, especially when Mega-Evolved. The two could probably fight for days and keep going due to their need to win. However, they are also both wise enough to know when they would need to quit.

8 Gardevoir vs Renamon

This was hard to pick because there are many Pokémon and Digimon that could have taken the spots of these two, but Gardevoir and Renamon are both fan favorites and well-known. They are also notably womanly, but surely someone would have complained if there wasn’t one of these match-ups. This fight between two humanoid female-styled creatures has been drawn countless times, though we don’t recommend that Google search.

RELATED: Top 10 Side Characters From Digimon

Whatever can be said about their looks can also be said about their battle prowess. Mega-Gardevoir against Sakuyamon (meaning final, fully powered evolutions) would be a high-powered psychic against magic extravaganza, but like most battles, they’d go head to head in their lower forms until just the right moment.

7 Chimchar vs Coronamon

Imagine a tiny bipedal fire monkey versus a tiny bipedal fire lion, and that is what this fight would be. Equal parts cute and terrifying. Chimchar has had a lot of focus on it thanks to its involvement in the main story as Ash’s Pokémon. Coronamon, on the other hand, has not, aside from a small appearance in Digimon Fusion, even though it has the most potential to be a goggle head’s partner.

Since both are natural fighters with a lot of spirit, it would be entertaining to see the two face off. Inevitably, these two would join forces at the end of the battle to save the world like their Shonen contemporaries, ending the big battle with a dual flame punch.

6 Meowth vs Gatomon

This is the first battle that would lend itself to a classic double battle. Meowth and Gatomon are some of the most recognizable cats in the anime realm. Most importantly for this list, they both have multiple forms. The battle could be Kantonian and Galarian Meowth versus Gatomon and BlackGatomon, though Alolan Meowth and Mikemon would be watching the fight.

It makes sense that these would have a bunch of different forms since popularity is a big determining factor. Since they are essentially just cats, the actual fight might be a bit more grim, but it would be fun to walk past and say “Look a catfight!” then have to run away from a half-dozen angry bipedal cats.

5 Charizard vs Greymon

This entry was originally the icons of Charizard versus WarGreymon, but in that battle, Charizard is underpowered, even factoring in Gigantamaxing and Megas. Instead, the two great lizards are facing off. Charizard holds its claim as one of the coolest Pokémon and has since the original 151. Greymon was the first partner Digimon above the rookie-level to be introduced in the series.

RELATED: Sword & Shield Anime: 10 Pokemon We Want To See Ash Catch

Each of them are powerhouses and are classified as lizards in their various namings and descriptions. Charizard has a slight advantage in this fight thanks to his flight, but Greymon can hold his own thanks to his weight and immense strength. They would be the two fighters in an Ash versus Tai fight.

4 Eevee vs Patamon

Both able to be described as basic in the best way, Eevee and Patamon are constantly underestimated, with the biggest focus being on their evolutions. Eevee is an okay fighter in the games and in its appearances in the anime. Patamon in the anime is constantly underappreciated because of its pairing with a younger partner.

Since the evolutions are such a big deal, the only thing to do is cut them out of this battle. It is only Eevee and Patamon. They both would battle hard and it would surprise those watching to realize how quickly the two could adapt to being solo on the battlefield.

3 Impidimp vs Impmon

This is almost exclusively based on the fact that they share a similar name and trickster attitude. The biggest reason the battle between these two would be interesting is that it would be pure chaos. Impidimp is new Pokémon to the world, but as soon as it had a soft-reveal, the community fell in love. Impmon had his place cemented as a fan favorite in Digimon Tamers.

This is a battle that evolutions don’t need to be left out of. Grimmsnarl could absolutely handle its own against Beelzemon. The two are synonymous with chaos and watching the battle would be interesting until they started using you like weapons and shields.

2 Mewtwo vs Omnimon

Mewtwo is still thought of as one of the strongest Pokémon, thanks to its many appearances in games and movies. Omnimon is seen as the strongest Digimon because it was the first Digimon to be made of the two previously strongest Digimon. They are also both legendary in status.

No other Pokémon or Digimon has as much power just behind their names as these two are believed to. Omnimon would have to deal with Mewtwo shifting forms from its normal mode to its Megas, but Omnimon could handle the battle with finesse. Omnimon versus Mewtwo is the battle we’ve all been waiting for since the early 2000s and it is shocking it hasn’t happened yet.

1 Pikachu vs Agumon

Just look at the promotional material for both entities' 20-year anniversary. Pokémon’s is literally Pikachu’s body and Digimon’s is just Agumon’s eye. There is no other battle more hoped for by fans than the faces of the franchise going head to head. They are both often goofy, love food, and most importantly, have stuck by their partner’s sides through thick and thin.

This is the type of battle that happens several times over the course of a movie, but there is no clear winner because something happens or the movie fades to black at the end. It is thrilling and excitable, but never malicious. And everyone knows they were both holding back.

10 Anime To Watch If You Liked Dororo | CBR

Dororo is a rather well-known anime series that is based on the manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka. The series received a reboot earlier this year and it received a lot of positive reviews. Even though the anime is based on the manga, it does not fully adapt the content in the manga.

RELATED: Dragon Ball: 10 Best Fights Where No One Uses Ki

The adaptation does stick to the basic premise, so it isn't entirely different from the manga. The series follows a young boy named, Hyakkimaru and a girl named, Dororo. The two band together so that Hyakkimaru can defeat all the demons and get parts of his body back. The story is set in the Sengoku-era. If you enjoyed Dororo and want to see more anime like it then you've come to the right place. Here is the list of 10 anime that are like Dororo.

10 Sword of the Stranger

If you have been a fan of anime for a long time, then you will definitely know this entry. Sword of the Stranger is a very popular anime movie, and like Dororo it is set in the Sengoku era. It follows the adventure of a boy named Kotaro.

Kotaro has some bad guys chasing after him. While running away, Kotaro meets Nanashi, a ronin. Due to something that happened in the past, Nanashi does not draw a sword again. The movie came out in 2007, and the fans still enjoy the movie to this date.

9 Mushishi

Mushishi is another popular anime that has a very large fanbase. It is based on the manga by Yuki Urushibara. The story of the series is set between the Edo and Meiji periods. The series follows a man named Ginko, who is always on the lookout for the Mushi. Mushi are creatures with supernatural powers.

Ginko's goal is to protect humans from the Mushi and help anyone that has got any problem related to Mushi. The anime first started to air in October 2005. After the end of the first season, another season of the show was confirmed and it aired from April 5, 2014, to December 21, 2014.

8 Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo is one of Watanabe's greatest works. Shinichiro Watanabe also directed Cowboy Bebop, which is among the best anime of all time. Samurai Champloo is set in the Edo-era, but there is a twist.

RELATED: 10 Manga Newbies Must Read

The story has a hip-hop setting and for many people, it sounds weird but it is actually very cool. Samurai Champloo follows Mugen, Jin, and Fuu. Mugen and Jin are swordsmen with considerable skill, but they have different styles of fighting. Fuu is a young girl, who requests the two samurai to join her to find a particular person.

7 Inuyasha

Inuyasha is an anime based on the manga of the same name by Rumiko Takahashi. The series follows a 15-year-old girl named Kagome Higurashi. Kagome is from modern-day Tokyo, but she is transported to the Sengoku period after she falls into a well.

Kagome meets Inuyasha, who is half dog-demon. Inuyasha's first series ran for 167 episodes from October 2000 to September 2004. The show received a second series and it ran for 26 episodes.

6 Afro Samurai

Afro Samurai is set in a fictionalized feudal Japan that is futuristic. In this era, the person wielding the Number 1 headband is the best swordsman in the world. The series follows Afro, whose father was killed by Justice.

Afro's father Rokutaro had the Number 1 headband and Justice had the Number 2 headband. Afro watches his father being killed and he swears to exact revenge on Justice. This popular anime series ran for five episodes.

5 GeGeGe no Kitarō

GeGeGe no Kitarō follows the adventures of Kitaro, who is the only surviving member of the Ghost Tribe. Throughout his adventures, he meets ghouls and several other creatures from Japanese mythology.

RELATED: 10 One Piece Characters Who Are Based On Real Life Pirates

Kitaro works to bring the world of humans and Yokai together. In many other storylines, Kitaro faces monsters from other countries as well. Currently, a seventh series is going on and it has been directed by Kouji Ogawa. It started to air on April 1, 2018.

4 Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion

Angolmois is one of the lesser-known anime around. It follows a group of prisoners who are sent to Tsushima Island in order to help with the defense against the first Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274.

The series has a lot of action and there is plenty of drama as well. The prisoners are joined by So clan and then Toi Barai clan who help to fend off the invasion of the Mongols. The series has just 12 episodes, but they are thoroughly enjoyable. It is worth watching and investing your time into.

3 Drifters

Drifters is an anime series based on the manga by Kouta Hirano. The series shares a few similarities with Dororo. The story starts with Shimazu Toyohida, who was battling Ii Naomasa at the Battle of Sekigahara.

After getting away from the battlefield, Toyohisa finds himself in a strange place that is filled with doors. After going through one of the doors, Toyohisa meets many great warriors who have been transported as well. They come to be known as Drifters.

2 Katanagatari

The anime follows the story of a unique swordsman named Yasuri Shichika, who fights without a sword and Togame, who seeks to collect the 12 legendary swords. Togame sought Shichika's help because of his unique fighting style.

Togame knew that the power of the swords would not corrupt Shichika. Togame managed to convince Shichika to join her and so they set out to collect the Deviant Blades. The story is set during the Edo-era.

1 Berserk

The final entry on the list is arguably the greatest manga in existence. Berserk is the creation of Kentaro Miura. The manga has been adapted into an anime, but it is fair to say that the adaptation isn't top-notch. However, Berserk is still worth giving a shot as the story and the characters are absolutely brilliant.

If you are looking for something read instead of watching then I would absolutely recommend Berserk. The series follows Guts, who is a mercenary. He has no goal in life except for changing battlefields and killing people, but all of that changes when he meets Griffith.

Batman: The 10 Most Powerful Weapons of His Rogues, Ranked | CBR

$
0
0

It isn't hard to argue that out of all of the heroes of DC Comics, Batman has the most popular, villainous Rogue’s Gallery in the DC Universe. From the Joker and Penguin to Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze and Ra’s al Ghul, Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery is responsible for some of the most iconic storylines in DC Comics.

RELATED: The 10 Funniest Alternate Dimensions In DC Comics

One of the reasons these villains give Batman so much trouble is the wide array of weaponry they use against the Dark Knight and the citizens of Gotham. Let’s take a look at the ten most powerful weapons used by Batman’s Rogues Gallery in the world of DC Comics.

10 Penguin’s Umbrella

One of the first most iconic weapons used by one of Batman’s villains has to be The Penguin’s wide array of trick umbrellas. In his first introduction, the Penguin used an umbrella to hide artifacts and stolen goods, sneaking them away from the scene of the crime unnoticed.

However as the Penguin has evolved from a thief and minor villain to a powerful villain and criminal kingpin of Gotham, so too have his umbrellas evolved. From shields and shotgun capabilities to poison darts, hidden cameras, and even jet umbrellas that allow the Penguin to get away from Batman before he can be captured, these umbrellas are truly powerful.

9 Catwoman’s Whip

One of Batman’s more intriguing villains is actually Catwoman. What makes Selina Kyle so interesting is that she has skated the line between villain and hero for years. Before her more recent stint as a hero and nearly becoming Batman’s partner in life and in their heroic careers, Selina Kyle was a master thief and antagonist of Batman.

RELATED: DC: 10 Things You Never Knew About The Spectre

One of her most powerful weapons is actually her whip. Not only is the whip powerful enough to cut and hurt her enemies, but she uses the whip to navigate the city of Gotham, from the highest rooftops to the lowest alleyways, allowing her to escape Batman’s clutches time and again.

8 Riddler’s Cane

If there is one villain who has challenged the Batman intellectually more than others, it has to be the Riddler. The self-proclaimed genius Edward Nygma has battled the Dark Knight for years, believing Batman’s ability to outsmart him time and again is one of the greatest insults a man of Nygma’s intellect has ever had to suffer.

One of the ways he battles Batman is with special Riddler canes he has designed. From their basic function as a weapon to hidden buttons that control some of the elaborate death traps he’s laid for Batman, Riddler’s cane is one weapon that is too dangerous in the wrong hands.

7 Harley Quinn’s Mallet

The next item on this list has to be Harley Quinn’s mallet. What makes this weapon so powerful is not some elaborate hidden functions or components, but the person wielding the weapon to begin with. Harley Quinn has evolved from a sidekick and love interest to the villainous Joker to an anti-hero/villain who breaks the fourth wall, much like Marvel’s Deadpool.

Her antics and loose grip on sanity have made her a dangerous ally and foe to Batman over the years. While she has become a sort of hero in the DC Universe, her constant battles with Batman make her large, heavy mallet a powerful force of nature in the DC Universe.

6 Man-Bat Serum

Shifting from physical weaponry to more biological warfare type of weaponry, one of Batman’s most dangerous foes is Kirk Langstrom, the man who inadvertently became the Man-Bat. A scientist who was developing a serum to help those with hearing deficiencies, Kirk tested his serum on himself, and became the Man-Bat creature instead, terrorizing Gotham.

Not only has the serum been used by Kirk and even his wife Francine, but the serum has been stolen and used by villains like the League of Assassins and later Ignatius Ogilvy. The serum was used by the League of Assassins to create a unit of Bat-Commandos.

5 Mr. Freeze’s Freeze Cannon

One of the more powerful handheld weapons that a Batman villain has ever used has to be Mr. Freeze’s Hand-Canon. The icy villain is Victor Fries, a scientist who’s wife Nora is cryogenically frozen in order to save her from a deadly illness. Genetically altered in a lab experiment, Fries must survive in cold, harsh temperatures in order to survive.

One of the weapons he uses to fight Batman and fuel his mission to save his wife Nora is his freeze gun. The weapon can freeze objects and people in solid ice and is one of the more powerful weapons wielded by Batman’s villains.

4 Deadshot’s Wrist Cannons

One villain that Batman has battled that has had a more significant impact on the DC Universe as a whole is Deadshot. Floyd Lawton is a master marksman, able to hit any mark he intended to hit, and is a professional assassin and often forced to lead the Suicide Squad for Amanda Waller.

Aside from his martial arts training, marksmanship, and even knife training, one of his most iconic weapons is the machine guns mounted on each wrist, otherwise known as Deadshot’s Hand Canons. This gives Deadshot the advantage in most fights and has even helped fend off hordes of enemies when outnumbered.

3 Fear Toxin

One of the most dangerous villains Batman faces regularly has to be Scarecrow. Otherwise known as Dr. Jonathan Crane, Scarecrow is a man obsessed with fear and believes it to be the one true force that showcases humanity’s true nature. One of the weapons he has developed to use fear not only against Batman, but the world is his special brand of fear toxin.

RELATED: DC Comics: 10 Things To Know About Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)

Often used in large scale attacks on Gotham and in battle against Batman and his allies, the fear toxin seeps into a person’s body, and draws out hallucinations of their greatest fears, driving them mad or even to commit violence.

2 Venom

One of the most physically challenging and powerful foes Batman has ever faced is Bane. Not only is he superiorly strong, but he is a master tactician and a powerful mercenary who has lived in and escaped one of the most dangerous prisons in the world. He is ruthless, unforgiving, and has an obsession with breaking Batman physically and mentally.

One of the ways he does this is through the repeated use of Venom, a special chemical that physically alters and enhances Bane’s strength. This gives him an edge in battle and has even led to him physically breaking Batman’s back.

1 Joker Toxin

The most dangerous, powerful, and widely used weapon wielded by one of Batman’s villains has to be the Joker’s Joker Toxin. The Joker is the most dangerous villain in all of Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery, with a penchant for madness and committing violent crimes for the sake of some psychotic punchline he finds humorous.

One of the ways he has tested Batman and all of Gotham over the years is the Joker Toxin. A special chemical concoction that acts similarly to Scarecrow’s fear toxin, the Joker Toxin seeps into a person’s body and causes uncontrollable laughter, contorting a person’s face and sometimes even leading to heart failure and death.

One Piece: The 10 Worst Things Akainu Did, Ranked | CBR

$

One Piece has characters of all sorts. There is no denying there is no other manga series that can boast of such a diverse cast. There are still many characters that we are yet to see in the series. Due to the huge number of characters, the fans have a tough time choosing their favorites.

RELATED: 10 One Piece Characters Who Are Based On Real Life Pirates

However, things are different when we are talking about Akainu. Akainu is among the most hated characters in the series and many fans can easily back up their claim. Akainu has done some horrible things and in this post, we will discuss all the horrible things that he has done.

10 Turned Away Fujitora

This happened after Luffy had taken down Doflamingo at Dressrosa. All the citizens of Dressrosa rejoiced as the reign of the cruel Shichibukai came to an end. As a Marine, it was Fujitora's duty to catch Luffy, but he let him get away.

Well, the citizens of Dressrosa were protecting him and Fujitora couldn't really do anything about it. We all know Akainu's personality though, he wasn't going to listen to any excuses. So, Akainu forbade Fujitora to come to the Navy HQ until he caught Luffy.

9 Didn't Help Sengoku

Akainu is among the Navy's top fighters and at the time of his introduction, he was the strongest among the three Admirals. No one can doubt Akainu's power, but during the Summit War, he was too preoccupied with the Whitebeard Pirates. After Whitebeard was killed, it was clear that the Navy had the upper hand.

The Whitebeard Pirates retreated as they wanted to respect the last wish of their captain. However, Akainu was still chasing them. He continued to bully them, but he was ignoring the fact that Sengoku and co. were dealing with a bigger threat now. Blackbeard and co. were giving them a tough time and Akainu didn't seem to notice or care.

8 Chasing Pirates

Akainu is a stern follower of 'Absolute Justice,' and he is very unlikely to spare the life of any pirate. In real life, Akainu would be nothing short of a hero, but in One Piece he's a big villain. After the death of Whitebeard, the Whitebeard Pirates were running away as it was the final wish of their captain.

RELATED: One Piece: 10 Fights That Might Happen In Wano Arc

However, Akainu had other plans. He chased after the pirates and kept on attacking them. There were a lot of casualties and Akainu was keen to add more to the list.

7 Avoiding Whitebeard's Thrashing

Akainu seemed unbeatable at times and currently, he is one of the most powerful characters in the series, but when he was up against Whitebeard he was getting washed.

When Whitebeard was enraged, he completely destroyed Akainu and immediately made him regret killing Ace. Akainu tried to put up a fight, but it was all in vain. Whitebeard's power was just too much. After Akainu realized that he couldn't beat Whitebeard, he just hid underground until Whitebeard was killed.

6 Manipulated Squard

There is nothing worse for a father than to be betrayed by his own son. Squard was one of the allies of the Whitebeard Pirates. He deeply respected Whitebeard, but Akainu manipulated him at Marineford. Akainu used his skills to manipulate Squard into believing that Whitebeard only cared about Ace.

He didn't care about the allies of the Whitebeard Pirates and he was merely using them to buy some time. Squard was tricked into believing it and he stabbed Whitebeard because of it. Squard did realize his folly and apologized, but the deed was already done.

5 Luffy's Scar

Luffy went to Marineford in order to save his brother from being executed by the Marines. Ace had been handed to the Marines by Blackbeard, who gained the position of a Shichibukai in return. Luffy arrived at Marineford with his allies to save Ace. He was successful in freeing Ace, but Ace sacrificed his life to save Luffy's life.

RELATED: One Piece: The Strongest Members Of The Heart Pirates, Ranked According To Strength

It is without a doubt, the most emotional scene in One Piece. After seeing Ace die in front of his very own eyes, Luffy suffered a mental breakdown and he couldn't think clearly. While Luffy was being carried away, Akainu decided to kill him. He managed to land an attack on Luffy, which gave him a huge scar across his chest.

4 Insulting Whitebeard

Whitebeard was the only person who could match Roger at his prime. This was confirmed by pirates and Marines alike. Even Buggy, who used to sail Roger admitted this. Whitebeard was respected by everyone. His crewmates called him 'pops' and he called them his 'sons'. Akainu had not only manipulated Squard, but he also insulted Whitebeard several times.

Akainu mocked Whitebeard in front of Ace and Ace was not gonna have any of it. He went back and attacked Akainu. Many fans think it was foolish of Ace to attack Akainu, but when his father was being disrespected, he had every right to go for it.

3 Attacking Coby and other Marines

It is one thing attacking pirates and killing them, but attacking your compatriots is something that a lowly person would do. Akainu, as we know, is a follower of 'Absolute Justice' and he is willing to execute each and every person who dares to stand in his way.

We saw this at Marineford when Akainu attacked Marines, who didn't want to fight. He also attacked Coby, who was distraught by the astounding number of casualties. When Coby asked the war to be stopped, Akainu just attacked him. If it wasn't for Shanks, Coby would have been dead.

2 Killed Ace

Every One Piece fan who hates Akainu knows that killing Ace is the biggest crime that he committed. Ace was a fan favorite and the nicest pirates.

He was set to be executed by Marines, but with the combined efforts of Luffy and co. he was set free. Ace clashed with Akainu when he insulted Whitebeard. Ace got in the way of Akainu's attack that would have killed his little brother.

1 Destroyed Ohara Ship

This is without a doubt the worst thing that Akainu did. He was a vice-admiral when Ohara was destroyed by a Buster Call. A ship that was carrying the civilians of Ohara was leaving the island, but Akainu opened fire on the ship.

He killed all the innocent people, who were on the ship. This is absolutely disgraceful as a Marine, who is supposed to protect the civilians and not kill them.

Titans: Nightwing's 10 Toughest Fights, Ranked | CBR

The time has come and the 13th and final episode of the second season of Titans has arrived. Through the last 23 episodes, we've seen Dick Grayson steadily become the undisputed leader of the young Titans, both old and new. For the entirety of Season 1 and most of Season 2, we see Dick Grayson carry on his mantle as Robin. As time passes, Dick's dismissal and rejection of Robin becomes a major theme of the show.

RELATED: Titans: Ranking The Most Powerful Live-Action Characters

By the time the end of the second season rolls around, it's apparent that Dick is transitioning from his life as Batman's sidekick to the true leader of the Titans. While he makes his full transition from Robin into Nightwing, it's worth noting some of the legendary fights that have led him to this point. These 10 are just a sample of the many brutal bouts that have defined Dick's role as a Titan.

10 Robin's Intro

Why not start with the very first time we actually see Dick Grayson in his famous Robin costume? Not only are we introduced for the first time to the classic Robin suit or the number of gadgets he uses, but more importantly the brutality of his combat style.

Even though he takes down the drug dealers fairly easily, Dick takes things to the next level and we get a glimpse of the darkness that comes to haunt him. This was a typical fight for him and probably something he and Batman did on a regular basis, but it was still exciting to finally see Dick Grayson dawn the brilliantly-designed Robin costume for the very first time.

9 Batman VS Robin

The relationship between Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne is one of the most interesting aspects of both Titans seasons. It only intensifies once Bruce becomes a commanding figure in Dicks's conscience. Although the two typically just had frequent chats in Dick's head, things eventually become more physical than anybody might have thought possible.

During Dick's quick stint in prison, one of these talks elevates to a staged fight between him and Bruce. Regardless of the fact that the fight isn't really taking place, it's still one of the more brutal bouts Robin's involved in. He's kicked around, nearly hit by flying Batarangs, has his arm broken all while being lectured by the Bruce mirage. The fight didn't just feel brutally real but was also wildly important for Dick as it truly marked his transformation into Nightwing.

8 Prison Breakout

As mentioned above, Dick had an extremely brief run at the Kane County Correctional Facility. Just because it was short, though, doesn't mean it wasn't exciting. From the day he arrived there, Dick had a target on his back as a former police officer. Regardless of that, though, Dick actually becomes somewhat friendly will his cellmates. That leads him to assist them in their escape attempt, which ultimately gets him beaten by the guards.

In typical Dick Grayson fashion, he manages to put up a good fight, which eventually leads to his acceptance of leaving Robin behind for good and taking up his new life as Nightwing.

7 Final Fight VS Deathstroke

Even though the entire second season was leading up to an ultimate and mind-blowing battle between the Titans and Deathstroke, it came down to an intimate fight between Deathstroke and those with the biggest grievances against him. In the end, Rose and Dick are the ones to take on Slade Wilson, as Dick has done countless times before.

RELATED: Every Time Deathstroke Was Blessed With Superpowers

In the end, it's Rose who gets to deliver the final blow to her father, but that doesn't mean that Dick didn't do his part. In fact, his dramatic entrance as Nightwing was probably the best part of the entire scene. However, anytime Dick goes up against Deathstroke he always seems to take the worst of the fight regardless of who comes out on top. That's no different here even though Dick finally was able to see his longtime nemesis defeated once and for all.

6 Titans VS Nuclear Family

Who could forget the creepy family hunting down Rachel from the first season? In just the second episode, we were introduced to the "Nuclear Family" as they've become known as. The four had frequent run-ins with the Titans, as they were allegedly bringing Rachel to her father. All that buildup came to an explosive clash at the hotel in which the family and Titans finally go toe-to-toe.

Again, we get to see Dick fully utilize the gadgets and perks of his suit and showcase his unreal combat skills. We also got to see him perform slightly on his heels as he's attacked surprisingly in his hotel room for an epic two-on-one fight between him and the parents where he literally uses the case for his suit to thwart their attacks. After getting kicked out of a second-story window, Dick finally elevates his game up a level and introduces the family and the Titans to Robin.

5 Dick & Kory VS Deathstroke

It's safe to say that Dick and Kory have an...interesting relationship. After their Season 1 fling, we never really see them put any effort into connecting once again. However, that doesn't mean that the two don't have each other's backs when the going gets tough. We definitely see that when Dick tries to trick the rest of the Titans and go after Deathstroke alone.

When Kory comes to his aid, the two actually look to stand a chance at bringing down Slade Wilson and saving Jason from falling to his death. We quickly learn that this isn't really the case, though. Again, Dick has met his match in Deathstroke and once again fails at stopping him. Luckily for him and Kory, Conner was there to ultimately save the day and keep the Titans from losing their new Robin.

4 Robin VS Robin

From the moment Jason Todd was introduced in the fifth episode of Season 1, you could tell there was tension between him and Dick. Although we never actually got to see the two battle out their frustration against one another, we did get to see it through the visions induced by Trigon.

In this vision, the Robin vs Robin fight is as epic as it comes. Even though this version of Dick has the upper hand on his successor for the majority of the fight, it's Jason who gets the last laugh. It's probably for the best that this fight never took place in reality, but it was certainly a cinematic masterpiece that anyone could've seen happening at any point.

3 Saving Hawk and Dove

The second episode of the first season brought us what might be Robin at his most brutal and uncontrolled. With Hank and Dawn defeated and surrounded by guns, their only hope is the old masked companion. Facing the creepy guy with the hedge clippers, Dick Grayson saves the day.

RELATED: 10 Things Fans Forgot About Titans’ Raven

Seeing his razor-sharp Robin emblem fly into a man's eye was one of the more gruesome moments of the first season, along with those hedge clippers being stabbed into the same man asking Hank to take his pants down. It's always a pleasure watching Dick Grayson take down an entire squad of bad guys, and this particular fight gave watchers a nice taste of the type of combat they'd see going forward in the show. What we learned in this scene is that when Dick loses control and really lets Robin take over, there's almost no one who can stop him.

2 Asylum Breakout

"Asylum" might be one of the best complete episodes in either of the first two seasons of Titans. With Dick, Kory, Gar, and Rachel at their most defeated, we had to expect a massive fight in order for them to truly break out. In the process of that breakout, we, once again, get to see what happens when Dick loses control.

The fight scene in which Dick destroys a series of guards is the pinnacle of his leaving behind of the Robin mantle. We never really see him at a disadvantage at any point in the fight, but instead, it seems as though he actually has superpowers. It's also a perfectly constructed hallway fight scene that takes a page straight from Daredevil. It has to be one of the best fight sequences in all of Titans and really showcases the low point that Dick reached in Season 1.

1 Church Fight

Much like the Asylum scene, the fight between Dick and Deathstroke in the church is one of the best scenes in the entire show. Not only were we finally given the truth behind Dick's big secret, but we also got to see Deathstroke at his best. He completely demolishes Dick throughout the entirety of the fight, only to finish things off by tragically killing Jericho by mistake.

The church fight was incredible in a number of ways. It was a perfectly choreographed fight sequence, yes. But it's real beauty was in what it did for the growth of both Dick and Slade Wilson as characters. It also brought a dramatic ending to the long buildup of what had happened to Jericho. The fight beautifully blends brutal and bloody action with heartfelt character moments to give us a jaw-dropping seven minutes that left us with a bad taste in our mouths about Dick Grayson along with a massive cliffhanger.

Fantastic Four Director Takes Aim at Marvel Movies | CBR

Recently, Fantastic Four director, Josh Trank, made headlines for reviewing his own film on Letterboxd. Now, he's back in the news for a different reason: attacking Marvel movies on Twitter.

Trank offered praise to Martin Scorsese's The Irishman on his Twitter account, dissing Marvel in the process. His tweets said, "Watching the Irishman. The first 5 minutes have more humanity and truth and cinematic intrigue than the running length of every single Marvel movie combined ahahahahahahahaha. Sorry, facts. PS: Not sorry."

RELATED: Martin Scorcese's The Irishman Gets a Marvel Makeover in Parody Trailer

Since then, Trank has deleted the tweets following criticism from fans who felt that he could praise The Irishman without putting down the MCU.

In another now-deleted tweet, Trank followed up his statements, saying, "Don't try to talk to me about film history, film appraisal, art, professional risks, personal growth, and/or understanding/fairness to films/art/self expression. Real film lovers understand and fux with me. 🤷🏻‍♂️. #cinema #offbrand #art #life"

Ironically enough, Scorcese, who directed The Irishman, has had his fair share of controversy due to his own remarks about Marvel films. Back in October, the famed director called Marvel movies "theme parks," asserting that they are "not cinema." Since then, stars all over Hollywood have been giving their opinion in on Marvel movies.

Trank's own venture into superhero cinema was a notorious flop. His Fantastic Four film currently holds an 8% on Rotten Tomatoes and famously bombed at the box office.

The Irishman is now in limited theatrical release and streaming on Netflix.

Black Adam: How The Shazam! Nemesis Transformed into a Hero | CBR

$

0

Like many characters who first appeared in the Golden Age of Comic Books, Black Adam was initially a one-note, one-dimensional villain. Lacking in any real nuance or depth, he was a typical cackling villain, whose only real motive was to stand in the way of Captain Marvel/Shazam. Since the 1990s, however, he's been consistently written as a much more layered, misunderstood character that hinges between villain and antihero.

Here's a look back at the various versions of the World's Most Misunderstood Mortal, and how he has been rewritten to become one of DC's best characters.

RELATED: Johnson's Black Adam Movie Will Introduce the Justice Society of America

Black Adam’s original origin cast him as an ancient Egyptian named Teth-Adam, chosen by the wizard Shazam for his seemingly moral purity. Empowered by Greco-Roman deities (later retconned to Egyptian gods), Teth-Adam had abilities similar to successor Captain Marvel. Unfortunately, these powers corrupted him, forcing Shazam to renounce his champion, rename the darkened soul Black Adam, and banish him to the most distant star in the universe. It would take him eons to return to Earth, where he would attempt to have his revenge. This origin was mostly kept in the first Post-Crisis attempt at DC to revive the Shazam franchise, Shazam!: A New Beginning. Here, however, he is sent to an alternate dimension, before being freed by Dr. Sivana. This version of Black Adam is far more callous than ever before, threatening to kill Sivana even after the scientist saved him, and taking a plane full of passengers as hostages.

His next modern origin would be given in Jerry Ordway’s Power of Shazam! graphic novel, before being expanded in Ordway’s monthly series of the same name. Here, he was a pharaoh’s son, whose corruption was due to the machinations of Shazam’s demonic daughter Blaze. Though Adam died in ancient Egypt, his powers were encased in a mystical scarab. This scarab was later found by Theo Adam, who had himself murdered Billy and Mary Batson’s parents. Theo was a reincarnation of Teth-Adam, and upon speaking the magic word, regained his powers. Eventually, however, it was revealed that Black Adam and Theo Adam were separate personalities, with the difference in fingerprints also acquitting Black Adam of the Batsons’ murders. This would begin the villain’s road to redemption.

RELATED: Black Adam Finally Shuts Up DC's Most Dangerous New Villain

Black Adam would continue to battle against Theo Adam’s evil personality, betraying his then-current team of the Injustice Society. Though he would still fight to adjust his old-world views of justice for the modern-day, he also joined the heroic Justice Society of America to prove his change of heart. He would form a bond and deep respect for fellow members such as Atom Smash and the Jay Garrick version of The Flash, as well as butt heads when Captain Marvel joined the team. In the pages of JSA, Geoff Johns and David Goyer would again change Black Adam’s origin, giving him his origin’s more popular rendition. Instead of Egypt, he hailed from the fictional Middle Eastern country of Kahndaq, and his turn to villain had a far more tragic motivation. Instead of being seduced by Blaze, his country was conquered by Vandal Savage and a villain named Ahk-ton, who wielded immense elemental magical powers. The resulting struggle also leads to the deaths of Black Adam’s family, furthering his rage. He kills Ahk-ton and regains Kahndaq through increasingly violent means, leading to the wizard Shazam robbing Adam of his powers and killing him.

This change of backstory gave nuance to Black Adam’s more violent tendencies and even earned him more respect from Billy Batson. Eventually, however, he would defect from the Justice Society to create a team that administers his own, far more lethal brand of justice. This would see him regain control of his destabilized home country of Kahndaq, which had been taken over by a dictator that had theretofore been ignored by the UN. Though the JSA warn against moving against, or into other countries, they leave Black Adam in charge of his own. Arrogance and anger remain parts of Black Adam’s personality, but he truly cares for and protects his people. He would also gain a new family after marrying Adrianna Tomaz, an Egyptian slave whom he transforms into the demigoddess Isis.

Unfortunately, Adrianna and her brother Amon would later be killed, leading to Black Adam’s rage centered World War III storyline. Since the New 52, Black Adam has again mostly been used in more villainous roles, also having another drastic change to his origins. Despite this, he has shown his noble side once again in his protection of Kahndaq, developing an ironic friendship with fellow dictator and villain Sinestro. Given that Shazam! took elements mostly for the New 52 version of the character, the upcoming Black Adam film starring Dwayne Johnson will likely combine his previous origins to put a villain on the screen that is as ruthless as he is layered.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood star Tom Hanks equates putting on his Mister Rogers costume to Bruce Wayne donning his Batman suit.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the Fred Rogers biopic, Hanks discussed what it was like to step into the shoes—and sweater—of the iconic children's show host. “You put on that red sweater and blue shoes, you might as well be putting on Batman’s cape and cowl. You feel powerful," said Hanks."

Hanks wasn't alone in his assessment either. "We shot this in Pittsburgh at WQED, the television station where they actually made it," the actor continued. "To walk into that studio in a red sweater and blue shoes, people would be looking. The crew guys would be looking, and they would come over to look like, ‘Oh my God. It’s a sweater just like Fred wore!’ They were enamored with the power."

Last year saw the documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? become a critical hit. With Hanks film already generating buzz after its release last week, it's clear audiences still love Mister Rogers.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood stars Tom Hanks and is in theaters now.

My Hero Academia: 10 Things Fans Should Know About Mina Ashido

$

0

My Hero Academia has a massive amount of characters to remember and follow. Class 1A alone is huge, and is full of surprisingly interesting and complex characters. Not all of them have had a chance to shine, as of yet. But we’re hoping to get a chance to see more of every single one of them. And we’re currently rooting for a deep dive into Mina Ashido’s character. She’s rapidly become a fan favorite, and with good reason. So we’re here today to talk about her and everything you should know about her character. And trust us, there’s a lot to learn about this bubbly heroine in training.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Things Fans Should Know About Momo Yaoyorozu

10 Dancing Queen

Did you know that Mina Ashido is actually a very talented dancer? Because she is! When the time comes to dance, Mina is not afraid to take center stage. And her breakdancing talent certainly warrants all of the attention there is to give.

Mina is so talented at dancing that she can quickly teach anyone how to dance – even an amateur. All she needs is a little bit of time and she'll get them dancing alongside everyone else.

9 Heart and Soul of the Class

Mina is perhaps the happiest and most cheerful student in her class. She's the first one to laugh, and almost always one of the first to support her classmates' success. And there's something beautifully endearing about that. Even when she's actively struggling with her classes, she's happy for their good fortunes and news.

She's also the first to jump up and try to cheer up a sad or hurting classmate. Assuming they're willing to show their pain in front of the class (most of her classmates seem content to hide this side of themselves).

8 Low Popularity Rankings

While Mina's popularity has been growing amongst fans of the manga and anime, on the whole her rankings have been relatively low. In fact, until recently she rated among some of the least popular characters of the series.

That has been changing recently, but even so, she's still relatively low on that bar. Here's hoping that people will start paying more attention to her. And that she'll get her own plot arc and chance to truly shine.

7 She Inspired Another Hero

Mina Ashido has always been unafraid to be herself. And sometimes that means risking her neck for the sake of others. She once stood up against a villain – at a time well before her hero training. And it was all to protect a younger classmate.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About Denki Kaminari

Mina's calm and cool behavior (even though she was lying through her teeth to the villain) inspired Kirishima to follow suit. He never again wants to sit on the sidelines frozen in fear, watching his classmates be put at risk. And that's why he's been pushing himself so hard.

6 An Attitude That Just Won't Quit

Mina Ashido is a character that is completely assured of who and what she is. That means that she's unafraid to talk back when the occasion calls for it. She's always got something snappy to say, especially in response to jerks or perverts.

She's also not ashamed of her body, as evidenced by her comfort in being naked in front of her female classmates. We imagine she wouldn't be so comfortable in front of a pervert like Mineta. But that's just the smart reaction, don't you think?

5 Acid Quirk

Mina's quirk is one that produces a corrosive liquid – acid – from her body. She can alter and change the solubility of the acid itself, as well as where on her body she produces it. On top of all of that, she can also alter the viscosity of said acid. It's an impressive – and mildly terrifying – quirk.

We've seen Mina use her quirk for several different purposes at this point. She's used it to melt ice, make things slippery for herself, and create a shield. And that's only the beginning for her quirks usefulness.

4 Specialized Clothing

Because of the acid Mina produces, she has to be careful about what she wears. After all, it would take only one tiny little mistake to ruin her shoes (and thus her only protection against the hard ground) or clothing.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Facts You Never Knew About Tenya Iida

So Mina has to wear special boots. They're supposedly acid-proof, and they have holes in the soles. This allows her to release her acid through her feet and still have it be useful (as opposed to trapped in her shoe). We have a feeling that Mina will be adding more clothing to the acid-proof list with time. It seems useful.

3 Not the Sharpest Tool in the Shed

You've got to admit that Mina is not the sharpest tool in the shed. She seems to try hard – sometimes. But overall she really does struggle with her classes. She's one of the few students who needed provisional summer classes. And that's thanks to the fact that she didn't pass her finals (on the written exam, at any rate).

There's a chance that Mina could do better in class if she wasn't so distractable. But it seems more likely that school is just not her strong point.

2 Her Best Stats

Almost every named character (or rather, hero) in My Hero Academia has an official set of rankings in the Ultra Archive Book – an official guide created by the writer of MHA. And that means we know the official stats for Mina.

Mina comes in at a five out of five for her technique – meaning her ability to use her quirk. Meanwhile, she gets a four out of five in both cooperativeness and speed. Her power is less stellar, coming in at a three (out of five). And finally her intelligence, which is a fair bit lower than everything else. That's a paltry one out of five. Ouch.

1 Four Super Moves

Mina has worked really hard with her quirk, and as a result, she's already come up with four different super moves that she can use at a moment's notice. And that's just for the moment – we have no doubt that she'll come up with even more with time.

Her special moves are as follows: Acid Veil (an acid wall that acts as a shield for her), Acid Shot (in which Mina creates the equivalent of acid bullets to throw at her enemies), Acid Layback (where she secrets acid from her feet to create a slippery and more maneuverable surface), and Grape-Pinky Combo Mineta-Bounce, which is her one and only combo move for the moment. That one requires her to work with Mineta, and it combines her Acid Layback with Mineta's Pop Off Spheres.

Flawed Crime Fighters: 10 Dysfunctional (But Effective) Superheroes

$
0
0

Superheroes are of all kinds. There are heroes that kill, heroes that don't kill, heroes that break the fourth wall, and heroes that barely talk, heroes that love playboy lives and heroes that treasure the family life. There is a wide array, a gamut of superhero personalities.

RELATED: Ranked: 10 Most Underrated DC Heroes

For the purposes of this article, it is important to define what 'dysfunctional' means. The superheroes that don't operate 'normally' or in accordance with set rules and principles are dysfunctional. Additionally, these heroes possess some quirky traits that make them stand out. Please remember there's a difference between crazy and dysfunctional. At best, dysfunctional here means weird or out of the box.

With that being said, here's our list for dysfunctional but effective superheroes.

10 MARVEL: MAGGOTT

Of all the names one could give a superhero, why Maggott? Also known as Japheth, this one comes from the South African Region of Krakoan. He debuted in 1997 with the X-Men, against the backdrop of Operation Zero Tolerance.

Maggott's superpower is  gross dysfunctional, to begin with, inside him live two slug creatures, Eany, and Meany who can eat any form of matter at supersonic speed. This, in turn, gives him energy for enhanced durability, enhanced strength.

9 DC: ARM-FALL-OFF BOY

Have you seen him? Arm-Fall-Off-Boy is a straight-up case of physical malfunction. Not only can he detach his own limbs but he has the ability to use them as weapons. Arm-Fall-Off-Boy originated in Pre-Zero Hour. Following the events of Zero Hour: Crisis In Time, this weirdo was erased from the DC canonical timeline. Arm-Fall-Off-Boy got removable limbs by a mishap, he accidentally held the anti-gravity metal 152.

Known as Floyd Belkin in Zero Hour reboot, he is one of the five finalists to try out for Legion membership.

8 DC: BROTHER POWER

Did DC run out of names with this one? Also known as the Geek, Brother Power looks like a disaster of a hero. His superhero abilities were bestowed upon him by a bolt of lighting. His insides consist of rags, connected by an internal wire framework. This gunny bag of a superhero is resistant to pain and possesses superhuman strength.

RELATED: DC Comics: 10 Best Superman Storylines Of All Time

Brother Power is impressive in one respect. He's a pacifist, he'll do anything in his might to avoid combat.

7 MARVEL: SHE-THING

Last we heard of a superhero with a 'She' prefix was She-Hulk. Meet She-Thing aka Ms. Marvel. No less than comic marvel, She-Thing is an orange-skinned, 6'0" creature. This one honestly looks like a cross between DC's wonder woman and She-Hulk. She-Thing has served the Fantastic Four in the past as Sharon.

She was further mutated by cosmic rays to become the full-blown horror that she is. She's also a part of an all-female wrestlers' group known as the Grapplers. Because, why not?

6 MARVEL: BIG BERTHA

Consider Big Bertha aka Ashley is an American take on a sumo wrestler. As pathetic as that sounds, it's somewhat true. Born with the ability to control where fat stays in her body, she changes her body shape as often as one would change clothes. Ashley enjoyed an illustrious career as a supermodel. Thoroughly dissatisfied with the vanity, Ashley joined the league of Superheroes to fight crime. She didn't give up the supermodel life either.

Ashley joined the Great Lake Avengers and let them use her penthouse and private jet.

5 DC: MATTER-EATER

My question is, aren't we all? Matter-Eater-Lad has a pretty impressive record. He's the fifteenth member to be inducted into Legion of Super-Heroes. Matter-Eater was born as a result of adaptation to food scarcity. He comes from the Planet of Bismoll where microbes disintegrated all the edible food. Therefore the natives adapted to eat all matter.

RELATED: Top 10 Superheroes Who Have No Powers

Matter-Eater can consume toxic waste materials at super-speed. Imagine what he could do to rid the Earth of plastic!

4 MARVEL: DEMOLITION MAN

Demolition Man is commonly known as D-Man. One cursory look at the superhero, you will be reminded of the old Daredevil and Wolverine's cowl. D-Man chose the superheroe life after he was approached by an agent of the Power Broker. He underwent extreme mutation to become D-Man, just so he could be recruited into the team of superheroes.

He later aligned with Captain America and operated the telephone hotline for him.

3 MARVEL: MULTIPLE MAN

As if the name D-man wasn't weirder! Enter: Multiple Man. This one has the ability to multiply his body into clones. But here's the catch: these clones don't always listen to the parent body. Multiple Man's duplicate was discovered at the time of birth. Upon being slapped by a doctor on his tush, another baby clone came out.

Talk about bizarre stories. Unable to get a grip over himself, he clashed with Fantastic Four. He eventually joined X-Factor and worked in Genosha with Professor X to monitor the rise of the evil mutant Magneto.

2 DC: THE RED BEE

The Red Bee aka Richard Raleigh comes straight out of the Golden Age. It is pertinent to mention that the Red Bee was owned originally by Quality Comics. Richard, an Assistant District Attorney faced helplessness when he saw criminals escape the law on minor technicalities.

He took to the vigilante lifestyle by donning his iconic red suit and used trained bees to further his purpose. One of the most commendable acts of his: he fought the Nazis at the time (1940s).

1 DC: DANNY THE STREET

A GPS for DC, Danny  The Street is an actual living street of a superhero. This sentient street places itself between cities and streets. His sole aim is to provide relief to outcasts and homeless. For the same reason, he wins this compilation. Not only does Danny provide shelter to homeless and rejects, but he also dresses himself up.

How do you ask? Imagine a beautifully lit-up block or a beautiful corner. In a similar way, Danny puts up various shops, decorative corners, and lets visitors have fun.

Naruto follows the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a ninja who aims to become the strongest shinobi of his village, the Hokage. Throughout the series, we've seen the rise of many shinobi and behind all of them were some great teachers.

RELATED:Naruto: All Members Of Konoha 11, Ranked

Right from the very beginning of a child's journey towards being a ninja, they're put under the care of some incredible teachers at the Academy, and as they progress, they work under the likes of Jonin leaders, while some work directly under Kage as well. In a plethora of some of the most talented teachers in Naruto, we've picked the 10 who are undeniably best at this job.

10 Jiraiya

Jiraiya was one of the Legendary Sannin of Konohagakure and it goes without saying that he was an exceptional shinobi. In a fight, few could even hope to match him, let alone beat him. Unsurprisingly, Jiraiya was just as great a teacher as he was a ninja.

Over the course of the series, the Sannin had trained some of the brightest of minds, such as the likes of the Amegakure orphans, which included Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko. Other than the Ame Orphans, Jiraiya also trained Naruto Uzumaki into an exceptional shinobi, who went on to become the Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village.

9 Orochimaru

Just like Jiraiya, Orochimaru was one of the Legendary Sannin as well, and arguably more skilled when it came to teaching students. From his time in Konoha to the time that he spent rogue in the Hidden Sound, Orochimaru raised a lot of incredibly talented ninjas who all went on to become powerful.

Anko Mitarashi was one of the strongest of his students, as were the members of the Sound Five. Orochimaru also trained Sasuke Uchiha for over two years, and thanks to his training, Sasuke grew enormously when it came to power. It goes without saying that Orochimaru will continue to raise such students in Boruto as well.

8 Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi Hatake was the Jonin leader of Konoha's Team 7 who went on to become the Sixth Hokage after the Fourth Great Ninja War concluded. Being an exceptional student himself, Kakashi did an incredible job of raising others like him.

RELATED:Boruto: 5 Characters Stronger Than Kawaki (& 5 Who Are Weaker)

In Naruto, he trained Sasuke to the point where he could match and even overwhelm Gaara in a fight, while in Naruto: Shippuden, Kakashi was seen training Naruto Uzumaki to master the Rasenshuriken using some of the most iconic ideas. Kakashi has also done his part in raising the generation after him by setting an example as the Sixth Hokage of the village.

7 Tsunade Senju

Konoha's Fifth Hokage and one of the Legendary Sannin, just like Orochimaru and Jiraiya, Tsunade Senju was just as good a teacher as she was a Kage. Towards the end of the Naruto series, she was seen training Sakura Haruno and it goes without saying that she did an amazing job at raising her.

Thanks to the training in medical ninjutsu that Tsunade provided, Sakura Haruno grows up to the greatest medical ninja in the entire series. Tsunade also trained others, such as Shizune and Ino Yamanaka to a certain extent, but her best student has been Sakura Haruno, hands down.

6 Hashirama Senju

Hashirama Senju was the First Hokage of Konoha and one of its creators, along with Madara Uchiha. As the guy who created the village, Hashirama was very keen on passing on the legacy, which is why he trained everyone who he deemed fit to inherit the Will of Fire. One of his greatest students has to be Hiruzen Sarutobi, who later went on to become the Third Hokage of the Konoha Village in the First Great Ninja War.

Thanks to Hashirama's training, Hiruzen grew up to be the greatest Hokage in the series, other than Naruto Uzumaki, and not only did he rule with power, but he inspired love as well.

5 Tobirama Senju

Konoha's Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju was a battle-hardened shinobi who had seen both war and peace, and hence realized that to protect the peace, the power and knowledge needed to be passed on. As such, Tobirama Senju raised a number of great shinobi ranging from Hiruzen Sarutobi to Homura Mitokado and even Koharu Utatane.

Tobirama essentially lay the foundation for Konoha by building the Academy, and even the Konoha Police Force. Undoubtedly, he was one of the greatest Hokage, and a fabulous teacher as well.

4 Lightning Ay

Kumogakure's Fourth Raikage, Lightning Ay was an exceptionally powerful shinobi back in his time. Along with Minato Namikaze, he was renowned as one of the fastest shinobi of his time. Although Ay appeared to be very stern at the face, he loved all his students whether it be his brother, Killer Bee, or his right-hand man, Darui.

RELATED:Naruto: The Worst Things Naruto Ever Did, Ranked

Ay managed to raise them into extraordinary shinobi, as Bee mastered the power of Gyuki completely, while Darui went on to become the Fifth Raikage of the village after Ay himself.

3 Hiruzen Sarutobi

Quite possibly the greatest teacher in the entire Naruto series, Hiruzen Sarutobi was Konohagakure's Third Hokage. Being inspired by both Hashirama's loving philosophy and Tobirama's stern nature, Hiruzen led the village in the best way possible. As a teacher, he raised some of the most powerful shinobi in Orochimaru, Jiraiya, and even Tsunade Senju.

However, that's not the extent of the people that he trained. As the Hokage, Hiruzen inspired an entire generation of shinobi to embrace the Will of Fire, including Naruto Uzumaki as well.

2 Minato Namikaze

Minato Namikaze was Konohagakure's Fourth Hokage. Being one of Jiraiya's students, Minato was raised into an incredible shinobi over the years. At a very young age, he inherited a squad that included Obito Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, and Rin Nohara. Evidently, he did a fantastic job of raising each of them as they played a significant role in the wars to come.

Although Obito did stray from his path, he was saved by his teacher, which affected the result of the Fourth Great Ninja War massively. Kakashi turned out to be just as great as any other Hokage, while Rin became a fine ninja as well.

1 Hagoromo Otsutsuki

Hagoromo Otsutsuki, also known as The Sage of Six Paths, was quite possibly the strongest being in the entire Naruto series. Revered as a God, Hagoromo was the person who spread the idea of unity through chakra, also known as Ninshu.

He raised Indra Otsutsuki, and Ashura Otsutsuki, his children, into tremendously powerful people. Despite all that, his biggest gift was the idea of peace and unity that he spread in the world. For that, he goes down in history as one of the best, if not the best, teachers.

One Piece: The 10 Best Episodes Of The The Enies Lobby Arc (According To IMDb)

$

Popular anime One Piece is known for its well-written arcs. Some of the arcs in the series are up there with the best when it comes to the best anime arcs in general. Enies Lobby arc is what fans would call 'peak One Piece.' Enies Lobby is filled with good action and a brilliant story.

RELATED: One Piece: The Strongest Members Of The Heart Pirates, Ranked According To Strength

In this arc, the Straw Hats went up against the Cipher Pol 9 in order to save Robin. Robin's past was revealed in this arc and frankly, it was so emotional. The arc started in episode 264 and it ran until episode 312. Today we will be ranking the best episodes of this arc, according to their IMDb ratings.

10 Episode 305: The Terrifying Past! Dark Justice and Rob Lucci (8.2)

Lucci was struggling after Luffy used his Gear 3 attacks. He barely managed to stand up after being hit by Luffy's attacks. However, the fight was still ongoing.

In the episode, we got to see the past of Rob Lucci. Lucci had been a follower of "Dark Justice," and he was in many ways more so than the pirates.

9 Episode 304: If I Can't Win, I Can't Protect Anyone! Gear Third Activates (8.2)

The episode's focus is on the fight between Luffy and Lucci. The fight had been raging on quite a while and there was no real let up from either side. Luffy had already used Gear Second and it felt like that he needed more to beat Lucci.

Luffy finally revealed the other technique that he had developed and the technique was Gear 3. This allowed Luffy to inflate parts of his body and provided him with the extra power to beat opponents.

8 Episode 277: Tragedy of Ohara! Fear of Buster Call! (8.3)

In this episode, Clover talks about the Poneglyphs and their history. He reveals that they were carved by an ancient country in order to prevent the World Government from erasing their history.

RELATED: 5 Characters Who Will Join The Straw Hat Grand Fleet (& 5 Who Won't)

Just as he was talking, Clover was shot by Spandine, and in order to pile further misery upon the scholars, Spandine activates the Buster Call. Robin saw Olvia, but Olvia denied it completely. Robin's admission regarding reading poneglyphs makes Olvia worry about her daughter. Just as the Buster Call starts, she entrusted Robin to Saul.

7 Episode 274: Answer Us, Robin! The Outcries of the Straw Hat Crew!! (8.3)

Franky helped Robin to go outside and see Luffy and the others. Luffy's message was pretty simple. He wanted to ask Robin what was her answer to coming back to the crew. Robin was pretty speechless seeing Luffy act in this manner.

The resolve was strong and they wouldn't just abandon Robin in her present condition. All the Straw Hats gathered together at the top of the Courthouse. After seeing Robin cry, the crew makes up their minds.

6 Episode 273: All for the Sake of Protecting My Friends! Gear Second in Motion (8.4)

No One Piece fan can forget this episode unless they have a bad memory. The episode was the first time that Luffy used Gear Second in battle.

Blueno was pretty confident that Luffy would not be able to do anything to him, and he was right to believe that because Luffy clearly seemed unfit to beat any member of CP9 at Water 7. However, Luffy did prove him wrong as he completely obliterated Blueno in their fight.

Blueno was having a torrid time and he didn't even know what was happening. In the end, Luffy steamrolled his way through and defeated Blueno.

5 Episode 301: Spandam's Shock! A Hero Stands on the Tower of Justice (8.4)

Let's be honest, no one likes Spandam or his father, Spandine. Like his father, Spandam too is a spineless coward, who is unable to use his own power to fight.

RELATED: One Piece: 5 Things Zoro Does Better Than Sanji (& 5 Sanji Does Better Than Him)

Usopp was able to snipe Spandam from afar and this allowed Franky to uncuff Robin. This was the beginning of the end for Spandam, who was going to be beaten up by Robin. It was truly satisfying to see Robin getting her revenge on the coward. His father had caused Robin problems in the past and now this time it was his son.

4 Episode 300: Zoro the Fierce God! The Incarnation of Asura Revealed by His Soul (8.5)

Enies Lobby will always be remembered for this epic fight between Zoro and Kaku.

Zoro was struggling to fight Kaku and he wasn't really getting any opening. Zoro had to come up with a new move and he did that as he unlocked Asura. Zoro used his new technique to finally beat Kaku.

Meanwhile, Luffy was still continuing his fight versus Lucci. He used Gear Second as Lucci entered his half-leopard form.

3 Episode 312: Thank You Merry! The Sea of Separation in the Snow (8.6)

After the intense battle at Enies Lobby, Going Merry had come back one more time to save Luffy and the rest of the crew. It seemed that Going Merry would be able to carry on for a longer time, but on their way to Water 7, the ship starts to break.

Fortunately, the crew meets Iceburg, who followed Merry. He clearly tells Luffy that the ship can't carry on anymore. Finally, Luffy also accepts that Going Merry can't continue. So, the crew gave the ship a Viking funeral and they thank her for all the memories.

2 Episode 309: Feelings Put Into Fists! Luffy's Full-Power Gatling (8.7)

This episode is focused on Luffy and Lucci's battle. Lucci had the upper hand for most of the fight and Luffy was struggling to keep up. All hope seemed lost when suddenly Usopp revealed to Luffy that he is the man behind the mask.

He encouraged Luffy to stand up once again and fight for his friends. So, Luffy gathers up his strength and uses Gomu Gomu no Jet Gatling to defeat Lucci once and for all. Finally, Luffy's attack works and Lucci is defeated. This surprised all the Marines present at Enies Lobby.

1 Episode 278: Say You Want to Live! We Are Friends!! (8.8)

Robin finally finished telling her story and it was very moving. Her path was filled with sadness and she didn't want to continue her journey. She was fearful of the time when not even the Straw Hats would be able to protect her.

Spandam made himself clear that trying to save Robin would mean making enemies of the World Government. Luffy was unfazed by Spandam's words and he ordered Sogeking to shoot down the flag of the World Government. Robin was shocked to see this and she shouted that she wanted to live and return to the Straw Hats.

Folklords Shows That the Pursuit of Knowledge Is Always a Worthy Quest

$

In "Reason to Get Excited," I spotlight things from modern comics that I think are worth getting excited about. I mean stuff more specific than "this comic is good," ya know? More like a specific bit from a writer or artist that impressed me.

Today, I talk about how the new Boom! fantasy series, Folklords, shows that pursuit of knowledge is one of the most noble quests that exist.

Folklords just launched recently, but it has been a nice hit for Boom!, with it being in its third or fortieth or whatever printing. It is written by Matt Kindt, with art by Matt Smith and Chris O'Halloran and letters by Jim Campbell.

The series stars a young man named Ansel, who lives in a fairly traditional fairy tale like village, except there is one thing that stands out - Ansel himself. See how he dresses? Weird, right?

It is because he has visions of a whole other magical world, one where buildings tower in the sky, where people fly through the sky in metal machines and where they, you know, wear clothes like this...

This has caused Ansel to be curious about the rest of the world and makes him want to choose his graduation quest to be to find the mysterious Folklords. This freaks out all of his friends, who are all more interested in fairly traditional quests, like finding a golden goose or whatever (there are certain parallels to Fables that I appreciated).

When it comes time to reveal his quest, though, Ansel's friend Archer actually steals Ansel's quest and things go poorly...

Now, each of the teens are assigned quests and the quests are really nothing more than glorified spying for the authorities. This leads to Ansel to decide that he (and Archer) will go on their original quest. They will break free from the town and find the truth.

In a modern world where we seem almost post-facts, where it doesn't seem to matter what the truth is and when there is a heavy bent of anti-intellectualism out there, Kindt, Smith and O'Halloran instead give us a world where there is a hero who is not willing to take "knowledge is bad" as an answer.

Folklords ends with their quest just beginning, but there is so much optimism in just the first issue that I was really beaming after reading it. I'm looking forward to a lot more from this series.

Okay, this feature is a bit less of a reader-interactive one, as I'm just spotlight stuff in modern comics that specifically impressed ME, but heck, if you'd like to send in some suggestions anyways, maybe you and I have the same taste! It's certainly not improbably that something you found cool would be something that I found cool, too, so feel free to send ideas to me at brianc@cbr.com!

Baby Yoda Lightsaber Duels The Emperor in Star Wars Fan Edit

While the Baby Yoda on The Mandalorian is still learning to use his powers, a fan decided to show us what it'd look like if the youngster could wield a lightsaber against the Emperor.

YouTube user MaxeBaumannFilms2013 took the Yoda versus Darth Sideous lightsaber battle from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and swapped out the wizened Jedi Master for the adorable Baby Yoda. As expected, the results are delightful.

RELATED: The Mandalorian Proves Star Wars Still Has a Lot of Stories to Tell

While many fans take issue with the acrobatic Yoda moves in the Prequel Trilogy, this fan edit goes the other way by keeping Baby Yoda resting in his floating crib from the show. That, of course, doesn't stop him from showing off his skills.

It's unlikely we'll see Baby Yoda brandish a lightsaber any time soon on The Mandalorian, but the fan-favorite character does continue to surprise both audiences and the titular bounty hunter. It's not clear what the full scope of his history or powers are, but it's a safe bet that fans are going to keep putting out Baby Yoda content indefinitely.

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog and Nick Nolte.

Super Dragon Ball: Breaking Down the Strangest Dragon Ball Entry

$

When people ask what are the core Dragon Ball anime series out there, most people would answer "Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Super." That's the typical answer, and they leave it at that. However, this response leaves out one very bizarre entry in the Dragon Ball franchise: Super Dragon Ball Heroes.

This original net animation (or ONA) is an animated web-series based on the Japanese arcade game of the same name. Super Dragon Ball Heroes features a great deal of time travel shenanigans and inter-dimensional reality hopping. With currently two seasons and seventeen episodes, it isn't exactly a long-runner like its counter-parts but remains one of the strangest entries in the Dragon Ball canon. So what is it? Is it canon? All these questions and more explained!

If you live outside Japan, you probably never saw the arcade game Dragon Ball Heroes, a fairly popular card-based fighting game. The game first launched in 2010, and would later be re-christened as Super Dragon Ball Heroes in 2016. Players create an avatar, drawing from one of the eight races core races in the Dragon Ball franchise: Humans, Saiyans, Namekians, Friezas, Androids, Majins, Demons, and Kais. Then, you collect a team of fighters and abilities, drawing from throughout Dragon Ball history, and you play.

RELATED: Launch: What Happened to Dragon Ball's Forgotten Criminal?

While the game has very little presence in the West, it drew attention online due to its multiple fan-fic styled animated trailers and in-game cinematic sequences for the game in Japan, featuring crossovers and references to fan-favorite characters in stunning animation. In the pre-Super era, for many fans, this was the newest content we'd receive!

The game has been ported to the Nintendo 3DS and Switch multiple times since its release. Its adaptations have also included multiple mangas over the years, mostly short runs, and the ONA Super Dragon Ball Heroes.

To understand Super Dragon Ball Heroes, however, you need to understand the world of Dragon Ball Online, a Japan-only MMORPG for Dragon Ball, as well as Dragon Ball Xenoverse. Or, at least, the idea of the Time Patrol and Future Trunks. While in Dragon Ball Super, we learn that time travel is a taboo, in Xenoverse, there's the Supreme Kai of Time, Chronoa, who governs the laws of time travel, organizing a group of warriors to travel throughout the multiverse and time to right wrongs as they occur in the flow of space-time. While the most notable of these members is Future Trunks, the team consists of various custom characters.

RELATED: Dragon Ball: 5 Things GT Did Better Than Super (& 5 Things Super Did Better)

Super Dragon Ball Heroes features multiple arcs in-game that bring in the Time Patrol as core features to the plot -- including the first arc: the Prison Planet Arc. In it, Trunks is captured by Frieza's brother, Cooler, and brought to a prison planet. Goku and Vegeta, who in our timeline are training on Beerus's world when the future counter-part of Mai (who in the Goku Black arc we learn is in a relationship with Trunks) reveals Trunks has been captured. It's soon after that Goku and Vegeta meet Fu, an enigmatic Kai-esque time criminal, Cunber, a Saiyan criminal, and the two Time Patrol officers: Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta.

These alternate versions of Goku and Vegeta differ in two core respects: they matured and calmed down considerably as time officers and can both transform into a Super Saiyan 4 -- the first appearance of Super Saiyan 4 in animation since Dragon Ball GT.

The Prison Planet Arc, lasting a short six episodes, starts off the plot of Super Dragon Ball Super, but it is far from its end. The arc leads into the Universal Conflict Arc, which incorporates the other universes from Dragon Ball Super into this fan-fiction fuel. It turns out that Cunber, the evil Saiyan criminal responsible for most of what happens in the Prison Planet Arc, is actually just one member of a cabal of villains assembled by a villain named Hearts, who plans on eradicating Zeno, the God Above All, and his counterpart from reality.

RELATED: Ranking the Best Super Saiyan Designs In Dragon Ball Z From Worst To Best

Some of Hearts' personal henchmen include a cybernetic fused Zamasu. The conflict pits him against the vast majority of the Universes assembled throughout the Universal Survival Arc, including Super's Hit and Jiren. Due to the presence of Jiren, it's safe to assume that all of Super Dragon Ball Heroes takes place after Dragon Ball Super.

Despite starting in 2018, there are only seventeen episodes of the series out. This is because the short episodes release on a sporadic basis, with sometimes weeks or even months between new releases. The entire series up until this point can be watched within two hours. This isn't a particularly long series, and, when watched in short succession, can be a fun experience for Dragon Ball fans looking for a wild fanfiction fueled saga.

RELATED: Dragon Ball: Every Time Goku Lost a Martial Arts Tournament

But for those who intend on watching the series as each episode comes out, there is little motivation to watch. Each episode is incredibly superficial and silly. They consist primarily of featuring characters punching one another in a silly, intense fashion. And due to the sluggish release schedules, you're often left waiting weeks -- even months -- for a new episode that will ultimately feature little plot or character growth.

Needless to say, none of it is canon. While it takes place post-Super, it probably won't affect whenever anything new comes out in Super, much in the same way that Xenoverse didn't affect Super's plot. Everything feels as if there are no lasting consequences on either the characters or world, despite the high-stakes of "Slaying Gods themselves" coming up. On top of that, the fanfiction-fueled, nostalgic elements of the early series -- Cooler returning, Super Saiyan 4 returning -- fizzles out in the second arc, which focuses primarily on Super characters.

However, if you can read the Dragon Ball Heroes manga, this is far, far more the sort of insane content that might capture your imaginations. The manga, which consists of multiple spin-off series, each focuses on different story-arcs correlating to Dragon Ball Heroes. The events of the ONA are covered in Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission, but the real fun comes in some of the earlier volumes. Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm Mission features the Time Patrol meeting Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta for the first time against the enigmatic demonic villain Mechikabura. It reads as a direct prequel to the events of Universe Mission and the ONA.

If you want to see, however, the silly potential that Dragon Ball Heroes can offer, read Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission. This is the first manga in the series published -- and the least connected to the ONA. The manga starts out with original characters fighting a baby-Janemba, and it just gets zanier and more illogical from there. Nothing makes sense, but it never tries to make sense, either.

Doctor Doom Just Disrespected the Devil on His Own Hell Turf

$

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Doctor Doom #3 by Christopher Cantwell, Salvador Larroca, Guru-eFX and VC's Cory Petit, on sale Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Doctor Doom and Mephisto have been making the rounds over the last year in the Marvel Universe. Coming in first place on the leaderboard for most appearances has to be Marvel's Number 1 Devil. It all started with the former ruler of Hell appearing in Avengers with a revived Phil Coulson; Champions to give Miles Morales a "One More Day" type of offering; Doctor Strange to accept Stephen Strange's demonic deal; War of the Realms to aide the Power Elite; Deadpool to steal Wade Wilson's heart; Ghost Rider to reclaim the title of King of Hell; and Valkyrie to recruit his own Valkyrie.

As for Doctor Doom, he fought his rivals the Fantastic Four, headlines his own solo series, takes center stage in a 2099 event series and has a guest-starring role in Amazing Spider-Man. The only place Victor Von Doom comes off as a sympathetic figure is in his recently-launched series, where he was framed for a terroristic act he didn't commit.

RELATED: Doctor Doom Steals a Move Straight From the MCU

However, Doom voluntarily turned himself over to the authorities as a show of good faith. The good vibes didn't last long once Kang the Conqueror confirmed Doom has a peaceful family existence waiting for him sometime in the far future. Now on the run, Doctor Doom was struck down by a sniper bullet and killed, which is an almost identical situation to what happened in Amazing Spider-Man #33-34 -- thought that turned out to be a Doombot.

A preview of Doctor Doom #3 finds Victor dead and in Hell, which would leave any normal man screaming in terror. Of course, it will take much more than the afterlife to scare Doctor Doom.

After surveying his situation, Doctor Doom begins marching towards a figure in the distance, who turns out to be Mephisto. Ever since losing the Ruler of Hell title to Johnny Blaze in Damnation, Mephisto has been plotting and scheming to get it back. How he managed to gain access back to Hell remains a mystery for now, but the two villains quickly get down to exchanging pleasantries.

Victor lets Mephisto know that just like the last time he died and went to Hell, he doesn't plan on staying long. Just as Mephisto tries to lay claim to Doctor Doom's soul, Victor unleashes a vicious punch to the devil's face, leaving him down on the mat.

RELATED: Doctor Doom Should Be The First Fox Character In The MCU

Doctor Doom cares nothing for respecting a person's boundaries. Whether it be on their home (hell) turf or in another dimension, Doom has no equal or bows down to any god or deity. Victor also fancies himself a new suit of armor that is fitting for a realm of demons and sinners. After all, if you're going to look the devil square in his face and deliver a wicked left punch, you better look the part.

It's a safe bet that Doctor Doom will somehow find a way to escape from Hell to continue on his solo adventure. Of course, he will search for the person who tried to assassinate him, and will surely have some words for Morgan Le Fay, who could have orchestrated the entire scenario. Either way, Doctor Doom is victorious in a Round 1 knockout of Mephisto.

The Flash: Barry Allen Has Just Gone Negative | CBR

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for "The Last Temptation of Barry Allen, Pt. 1," the latest episode of The Flash Season 6.

As "The Last Temptation of Barry Allen, Pt. 1" begins, we are informed that the upcoming event "Crisis on Infinite Earths" is only two days away. While the Arrowverse crossover is highly anticipated by fans, it's the exact opposite for Team Flash. Ever since the Monitor warned Barry and the rest of his friends about the upcoming cataclysm, they have been preparing to say goodbye to Barry, who is destined to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the multiverse. Now, with the Crisis mere hours away, Barry is contemplating the life he is about to leave behind.

However, the unexpected meddling of Ramsey Rosso, aka Bloodwork, throws a wrench in his plans. After a fight with Ramsey leaves Ralph Dibny severely wounded, Barry donates his blood to the Elongated Man in a bid to help him heal faster and save his life. The procedure pays off, but it has an unfortunate side-effect: Ramsey's blood, which had infected Ralph, found its way into Barry.

The Scarlet Speedster fights Bloodwork's infection for most of the episode, but ultimately ends up succumbing... and transforming into Negative Flash.

RELATED: The Flash Confirms Crisis On Infinite Earths Newspaper Release Date

After coming down with the infection, Barry falls into a coma-like state. In his mind, Ramsey attempts to take control of Barry by convincing him that he should choose life over death. But the Speed Force also shows up in the form of Barry's mother, who fights to keep Barry in his right state of mind.

Unfortunately, as the infection grows stronger, Ramsey's words become more and more enticing. His promise to give Barry the power to not only save everyone else from the Crisis but himself as well is persuasive. It's the answer Barry has been looking for ever since the start of the season.

In his right mind, Barry wouldn't succumb to Ramsey, but the infection inside him feeds on and increases his darkness. As the Speed Force and Bloodwork fight for control of Barry, the Scarlet Speedster wakes from his coma. But he's no longer the heroic speedster we know -- instead, he is now the Negative Flash. His lightning effects have become black, like Ramsey's blood, and the dark infection has spread to his eyes, mouth, fingers and logo. As the Negative Flash, Barry is fueled by his darkness, and he obeys the commands of Bloodwork.

RELATED: The Flash Is Failing One Of Its Main Characters This Season

In the comics, Barry Allen briefly became the Negative Flash during Rebirth. While he faced Bloodwork in that storyline, it wasn't Ramsey's influence that transformed him into the Negative Flash. In fact, the change happened prior to the pair's confrontation. It was actually the Reverse-Flash who trapped Barry Allen in the Negative Speed Force, whose darkness corrupted and changed him.

While it happens differently in The Flash television show, the Negative Flash has arrived, and it couldn't come at a worse possible time. After all, the Crisis is almost here.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.
