With the power of being the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball franchise, Goku has gained the power of plot convenience armor. No matter how bad things get and the amount of punishment he endures, Goku will be able to get back up and fight against the big bad of the week and take him down.

Related: Dragon Ball: 5 Times Gohan Was A Good Dad (& 5 Times He Wasn't)

Sure, he hasn't been able to take down every major villain, but he's been able to get away from his greatest foes with only a few bruises. So, we decided to take away that plot armor and take a look at ten beatdowns Goku should have never survived.

10 Crushed by Great Ape Vegeta

Goku and the gang have fought'en plenty of weird monsters in their day, but nothing could have prepared him for Great Ape Vegeta. Not only was the giant form of Vegeta able to break Goku's legs, but the giant monkey also followed it up by squeezing the life out of Goku.

Not only is Goku all out of energy, but he's taken a lot of damage from using the Kaioken technique. Yet, despite this disadvantage, Goku is still able to survive this ordeal. The guy was killed only 20 something episodes ago by Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon, but survives an alien King Kong Crushing every bone in his body? That's just wrong

9 Blasted by Piccolo

When Goku and his friends believe that Earth's Savior has defeated the Evil Piccolo, the reincarnation of King Piccolo comes back up and shoots Goku in the Right Peck and leaves our hero screaming in Pain. A blast that went straight through may have killed him in his fight with Raditz five years later, but yet this blast he endured from Jr still let him get back up?

Related: Dragon Ball: 10 Amazing Tattoos To Inspire Your New Ink

No, he should have been dead. But, to make matters even dumber, Piccolo lays an even bigger blast on Goku only for our hero to come out of the sky and ram Piccolo out of the ring(or what's left of it).

8 Shot through the heart by Sorbet

Apparently, Goku can only be killed if shot through the gut or hit with a self-destruct explosion right in front of him, cause this "fatal" blast didn't kill him either. After Goku has defeated Frieza for the umpteenth time, Frieza's newest right-hand man, Sorbet, uses a laser to blast Goku in the heart.

Keep in mind; this isn't just a blast that hits his left peck. It goes straight through where the heart is located. We even see Goku's damaged backside, which indicates where he was shot through.

7 Beaten up by Syn Shenron

After Goku kills Eis Shenron, he and Nova Shenron are assaulted by the last Shadow Dragon, Syn. This mighty Shadow Dragon kills Nova in two-hits, leaving the blinded Super Saiyan all on his own. Remember that we said blinded, as Goku is still able to lay a few blows on Syn, while also being able to hide from the powerful Shadow Dragon.

Not only that, but Syn then let's loose a powerful homing blast that merely knocks Goku out and has him powering down. Not only should Goku be dead, but he should not have been able to hit Syn at all. He may be blind and have his other senses, but the guy ain't Daredevil

6 His fight with Jiren as a Super Saiyan Blue

While the Tournament of Power prevents its contestants from killing one another, there are still a few fights where you have to ask, "how did X survive that fight with Jiren." Be it Hit, Vegeta, or whoever else, anyone who went up against Jiren should be dead. During Goku's first fight with Jiren, the Super Saiyan throws everything at Jiren and isn't able to land a single blow.

Related: Dragon Ball Z: The 10 Best Episodes Of The Saiyan Saga (According To IMDb), Ranked

Goku even launches a Spirit Bomb at him, which Jiren throws right back at him. Either Universe 7 didn't give Goku that much energy or King Kai taught Goku a useless attack, cause the giant explosion it produces doesn't end up killing Goku, but it lets him unlock Ultra Instinct.

5 Stabbed by Goku Black

Just like his pal, Vegeta, Goku somehow can survive getting stabbed by an energy sword from his evil doppelganger, Goku Black. We're not saying that people aren't able to survive stab wounds but look at that blade.

It's as big as Trunks's, and that thing was able to slice Frieza into pieces. Something like that should've killed Goku and Vegeta within seconds.

4 Drowned by Frieza

After Frieza decides to show Goku a bit of his real power, the galactic tyrant lays the smackdown to our hero. It then leads to Frieza tossing Goku into the lake, only for him to drown Goku, knocking him out in the water.

However, our hero wakes up and uses his Kaioken attack to lay some damage on Frieza. No. That shouldn't have happened. Goku was out cold and underwater. He should be back in Other World, cursing himself for dying at Frieza's hands.

3 Blasted point-blank by Turtles

In this movie-only fight, Goku takes on the mighty Turtles. While Goku seems to have the advantage, He gets overpowered by Turtles when the Saiyan Look-a-Like eats a piece of fruit from the Tree of Might. Turtles does short work of Goku; he even pulls a Frieza and beat's Goku's Kaioken x20.

Related: Dragon Ball: 10 Hilarious Goku Memes Only True Fans Will Understand

Turtles then steps on our hero before blasting him with a barrage of energy balls right in the back, at point-blank range. Later on, we see Goku able to get back up and use his Spirit Bomb... Which is blasted away by Turtles. If that Point-Blank barrage didn't kill him, that second energy attack should have kept him down.

2 Getting Loki-ed by Broly

Remember that scene in Avengers, where the Hulk grabs and smashes Loki around like a ragdoll before walking away?

Yeah, Broly does the same thing to Goku, and he manages to get back up, unlike the God of Mischief... Puny Super Saiyan God.

1 Hit in the heart by Hit

Goku wanted to have a rematch against Hit after the two fought in the Tournament of Destroyers. Well, Goku got his wish as he paid Hit to come and try to kill him. Goku tries to launch an energy attack, but Hit seemingly fulfills his contract after he launches a new attack on Goku that hits him right in the heart.

Just like that, Goku launches his energy attack in the air and dies... Only for this attack to come back at him and revive him. Saiyan Heart's must be made of something like Vibranium or Adamantium, cause they keep getting hit in the heart and survive.

Batman’s 10 Hardest Punches, Ranked | CBR

$

For all intents and purposes, Batman is a street-level hero. Sure, he's battled villains like Mongul and Darkseid. True, he has a neat utility belt where he stores everything from Batarangs to a full-on plasma cannon with laser sight and tripod. Nevertheless, when it comes down to it, he sometimes punches first and asks questions later.

RELATED: Batman: 10 Questionable Moral Decisions He Made in the Comics

Since his introduction nearly a century ago, the Caped Crusader has punched a whole bunch of people. Some of these have been normal jabs and uppercuts. Others have been so powerful they've knocked Superman off his feet and made the Joker cry. For more information, here are Batman's 10 hardest punches, ranked.

10 Batman Raps Robin

Okay, this is technically not a punch. However, it's a moment in comics that has become one of the most-used memes across the globe. The origin of the slap took place in the November 1965 issue of World's Finest Comics #153. Set in an alternate reality, something comic books of that era tended to do, Batman's widowed father tried to ween Superboy off of Kryptonite. When the young Bruce finds his father dead, he suspects Superboy and vows his revenge.

Fast forward several years, and Robin becomes Batman's ward. The moment the Boy Wonder discovers his mentor wants to kill the adult Superman, he decides to dissolve the partnership. This is when Batman bitch-slaps him. Then, to make it worse, he wipes Robin's memory and puts him back in the orphanage. Eventually, Batman figures out the person who killed his father was Luthor. In his dying breath, the Dark Knight apologizes to Superman and admits, "Hey, do you remember when Dick knew he was Robin?"

9 Batman Humiliates the Hulk

Again, not a punch per se, but definitely an example of how Batman can take down pretty much anyone, hero or villain. In this case, it's the Hulk, back when he was simply incredible. It took place in a 1981 crossover special that also featured the Joker, Commissioner Gordon, and General Thunderbolt Ross. It was a peaceful time in comics, where the biggest challenge was keeping Hostess Cupcakes safe from villains.

During the battle between the two heroes, Batman throws a knockout gas grenade to stop Hulk from smashing him. Even though he's in one of his less intelligent phases, the green guy knows to hold his breath. This is when Batman hits him with a two-footed kick to the solar plexus. Hulk breathes out, breathes in again, then falls to the ground. Eventually, he turns back to Bruce Banner, and everyone chuckles over some Hostess Twinkies. Snack food saved once again.

8 Batman Hacks at Hawkman

What do you do when you find out the people you trusted did something terribly wrong? You start kicking their butts. This is what Batman did during Identity Crisis. To summarize, the mini-series revolved around the investigation of Sue Dinby's murder. In turn, it led to a confession by some of the Justice League's original members.

RELATED: 10 Reasons Why Identity Crisis Is One Of DC’s Most Important Events

Turns out, Sue was sexually assaulted by Dr. Light in the JLA's satellite headquarters. When the heroes captured him, they decided to erase the villain's memories. When Bats arrives and sees what's happening, he tries to shut it down. Then, Hawkman opens his big mouth and says it's the right thing to do. The result, Batman nearly knocks the bird mask off of Carter's face. And what did the Dark Knight get for his attempt? His memory of the event was also erased. Some gratitude.

7 Batman Jabs John Constantine

Turns out, Batman will punch out anyone in any reality if they piss him off enough. For example, he knocked the literal bloody snot out of John Constantine in Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Three. It's okay, because the dude totally deserved it.

We find Bats and his remaining group of anti-Superman heroes battling against the one and only Spirit of Vengeance. No, not that Marvel guy with the flaming skull. Constantine flips when Batman tries to take control of the situation. Eventually, he tells the hero that his painkillers and stubbornness make him bloody useless. So, Batman knocks him down with one armor-plated punch. Really, who can blame him?

6 Batman Jolts Jim Gordon

Batman is an equal-opportunity slugger. He'll smack around villains, other heroes, and old ladies crossing the street when the Don't Walk sign is lit. He's also not against punching law enforcement officials, particularly when he's frustrated. He probably needs to see someone about that.

He punches one Commissioner Gordon on the kisser in November 2018's Batman #59. After discovering that Bane is behind all the crud that has happened to him as of late, he confronts the de-powered villain at Arkham and beats the sillies out of him for an answer. When Gordon steps in to protect Bane, Bats knocks his longtime friend to the mat. Instead of arresting him, Gordon calmly tells the Dark Knight to get his Bat-butt out of there. Hence, the reason Batman can never meet new people. Not even on Tinder.

5 Batman Bops Black Mask

Cartoon Network's Batman: The Brave and the Bold took viewers back to a time when the Caped Crusader didn't have so many burdens on his plate. He cordially paired up with nearly every superhero in the DC Comics Universe. He also had some great battle scenes that hearkened to those seen in anime shows.

RELATED: Batmanimation: The 10 Best Animated Batman Costumes (And The 10 Worst)

In the second season episode "Plague of the Prototypes," Batman teams up with Ace the Bat-Hound and one of his Bat-Robots known as Proto to foil Black Mask's latest scheme. He has turned the other Bat-Robots into Bat-Robbers to steal Bat-Money. Bat-Okay, too many bat references. Eventually, Bat ... um ... the Caped Crusader and Proto take down the robots and find Black Mask's hideout. This is when our ... hero ... almost knocks the villain's black mask off.

4 Batman Drums Darkseid

When it comes to striking someone, Batman doesn't just focus on Earth-bound beings. If needed, he'll head into space to smash someone's face in. He simply needs a little more power to make the connection between fist and bone. Enter the Hellbat suit.

Designed by Batman and forged by the Justice League, the Hellbat armor is used when the Dark Knight needs that extra "oomph" to pummel someone above his strength level. For instance, Superman, Captain Marvel, or Bat-Mite after several Red Bulls. In this case, it was to pound Darkseid into submission during Batman's quest to retrieve his son's corpse. For the initiated, this would be Damian Wayne, the current Robin.

3 Batman Devastates Deathstroke

Then there was the time Batman devastated Deathstroke. Actually, it was several times. Fine, Batman pretty much owns Deathstroke. So do Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Alfred, and Chief O'Hara. Though his hand-to-hand skills are beyond exception, Deathstroke seems like a first-level White Belt when battling a member of the Bat Family.

Take 2018's Deathstroke vs. Batman #34. Though Bruce is caught with his tights down, figuratively, he's still able to rattle Deathstroke's marbles during an intense Batcave battle. While both down for the count at the end of the issue, the fight has a clear winner. One guess -- and it's not the giant penny.

2 Batman Slugs Superman

For a duo who have been friends since they met while changing into their costumes in the same room (Superman vol. 1 #76), Batman has punched Superman dozens of times, if not hundreds. In the Injustice series of books, it seems the two hit each other more times than the fighters in an MMA match.

RELATED: 13 Old Superheroes Cooler Than Their Younger Selves (And 12 That Got Worse)

The best-known of these in recent memory is the final battle between the two heroes in The Dark Knight Returns. With his street creds returned, Batman calls out Superman's one-man war at the behest of the U.S. President. What ensues is an epic battle where Bats seemingly breaks Supes' nose thanks to the armored suit he wears. In the end, it looks like Batman perishes at the hands of the Man of Steel. However, he's just biding his time until the two can have a rematch.

1 Batman Grunks Green Lantern

The year was 1987. The title was Justice League #5. Guy Gardner, proud member of the Bowl Haircut Club for Superheroes, is tired of the way Batman handles things. In fact, he thinks he can do better than the pointy eared maniac. So, he asks for a showdown. No rings, no Bat-Brass Knuckles. Simply mano-a-mano.

Before it can start, Batman grunks (?) Guy Gardner with one punch. One punch. Mister Miracle is impressed with Bats' efficiency while Blue Beetle practically cracks a rib laughing so hard. Meanwhile, Black Canary wonders if Guy is dead. Turns out, the obnoxious Green Lantern lives to bother Batman another day, thus bringing much joy to the readers.

10 DC Storylines Worthy of Their Own “Dark Multiverse” One-Shot

The Tales From The Dark Multiverse comics currently being published by DC are unlike anything else currently on the shelves. With each issue serving a a standalone one shot that delves into the dark Multiverse, we're able to see where universes divulge from the stories we know and love, viewing how things would've turned out if certain events panned out differently.

RELATED: The 10 Funniest Alternate Dimensions In DC Comics

While there are a few more Tales From The Dark Multiverse comics we know we're getting soon, there are plenty of DC Comics that we think would work perfectly with the Dark Multiverse premise. So here today we present "10 DC Storylines Worthy of Their Own 'Dark Multiverse' One-Shot!"

10 Flashpoint

A key element to what makes the Tales From The Dark Multiverse comics published thus far is that they bring a great deal of attention to the stakes present in the respective comic that each issue is based off of. Few storylines produced by DC have as large and universal stakes as Flashpoint. A storyline already tied to the multiverse, Flashpoint follows the Flash as he finds himself in a world that is not his own. The world of Flashpoint is on the brink of collapse, and seeing the fallout that would take place without the involvement of the Flash seems like it would be the perfect setup for a Dark Multiverse tie-in.

9 Identity Crisis

Another element that is often on display in Tales From The Dark Multiverse comics is a strong utilization of characters who often don't receive the spotlight such as Azrael, Dove, and Ted Kord. 2004's Identity Crisis coincidentally gave starring roles to multiple lesser used characters such as Elongated Man and the Atom.

RELATED: 10 Marvel/DC Characters with the Exact Same Powers

A great deal of tragedy takes place in Identity Crisis, and a glimpse into the Dark Multiverse could present intriguing alternatives to how such a tragedy may have affected heroes in more destructive ways.

8 The Multiversity

What storyline could fit the Dark Multiverse better than a comic about the Multiverse itself? The original Multiversity graphic novel was broken up with each chapter taking place in a different world within the multiverse. A Tales From The Dark Multiverse spin on the Multiversity could yield extremely interesting results, condensing the previously used form of the source material with every few pages of a singular issue displaying a myriad of worlds across the Dark Multiverse. A "Dark Multiversity," if you will.

7 Batman: The Long Halloween

The Long Halloween is a very unique comic in the Batman mythos, as it portrays a transitional period for the caped crusader, as he begins to deal with super villains rather than run of the mill mobsters. This allows the comic to put a great deal of the focus on the development of villains, namely Harvey Dent in his descent into Two-Face.

RELATED: 10 Big Name DC Heroes Who've Actually Done Nothing

However, the Tales From The Dark Multiverse comics are at their best when they are prying away at the idea of potential. In this case, we ask the question: What if Batman were to fall as his rogues began to rise?

6 Red Son

One element that has yet to be played with in the Tales From the Dark Multiverse series, is the utilization of stories that already took place in alternate universes. One example that would work perfectly with such a comic is Superman: Red Son, in which Superman is raised as a hero of communist Russia. The original comic by Mark Millar already has a great deal in common with the Dark Multiverse one-shots, but everything does end up working out in the end. There's a great deal of potential to push what was already present in Red Son further, and contort it into an eerie worst case scenario.

5 Mad Love

When it comes to the Dark Multiverse, volatility is key, as it often allows for a great deal of variance. While not a world ending catastrophe that we've become acquainted with in the Dark Multiverse, Mad Love is a storyline that has the chance to subvert expectations in numerous ways if the course of its plot were to be altered for the worse.

RELATED: The 10 Biggest DC Deaths Of The Decade

Whether it be Harleen's relationship changing in nature or severity in the flashback segment of the storyline, or if the repercussions of the present were to change, Mad Love has a great deal of room to deteriorate into a story befitting of the Dark Multiverse.

4 Batman: A Death in The Family

As we've mentioned, many of the strongest opportunities for Dark Multiverse tangents are within comics with high stakes and lasting impacts. An example of a storyline that already possesses such an impact is A Death in the Family, in which Jason Todd meets his untimely end. The Beauty of The Tales From The Dark Multiverse is that from this premise, there are numerous directions to take such an event and move it into the Dark Multiverse. The death could occur to another individual, or the repercussions and lasting impacts could be altered.

3 Heroes in Crisis

Although Heroes in Crisis just concluded this past year, it presents a great deal of potential of an event that could be contorted into something far worse. Heroes in Crisis while developing the lore of how DC heroes deal with their mental health, it also established a lot of baggage to unpack regarding Wally West.

RELATED: The 10 Most Shocking Twists In DC Comics History

Wally is a central figure in this storyline, and had things turned out slightly differently, we believe it wouldn't be far off from bordering the bounds of the Dark Multiverse.

2 Kingdom Come

Another DC storyline taking place in an alternate universe, Kingdom Come presents a world reminiscent of those we'd already find within the Dark Multiverse. There is a schism  between the previous generation of heroes and the new up and coming generation, with rampant selfishness and corruption leading the world towards its demise. Despite all this, there is always a sense of hope and idealism behind the darkness. In order to adapt Kningdom Come into a story within the Dark Multiverse, that hope would need to be extinguished and consumed by the corruption.

1 The Killing Joke

Perhaps one of the best known Batman storylines in all of comics, The Killing Joke presents numerous opportunities for the story to divert into one within the Dark Multverse. The comic focuses on three core characters besides Batman himself: The Joker, Barbara Gordon, and Commissioner Gordon. If any of the variables of these characters were to shift in any way, the trajectory of The Killing Joke would change entirely. This alone leads the story to have great potential within the Tales From The Dark Multiverse series, as nearly any of the figures in the graphic novel could serve as the focus.

DC Comics: 10 Most Powerful Swords, Ranked | CBR

$

0

When it comes to the mystical, powerful and street-level heroes and villains of the DC Universe, there are many powerful weapons used to battle the forces of evil, or sometimes to create chaos for the heroes to battle. One of the most iconic looking weapons a wielder can have is that of the sword.

There have been several different swords of the DC Universe. Whether it’s cosmically powered swords that give the wielder the power to take down gods, or swords that channel mystical energies and even souls, let us take a look at the most powerful swords of the DC Universe, ranked.

10 Moonblade

Surprisingly, the first sword to be discussed was originally wielded by none other than everyone’s favorite con artist and magical hero, John Constantine. The man who gets under everyone’s skin and has risked his soul time and again to save the world, the hero was chosen to wield the power of the Moonblade.

The Moonblade was stolen from John by the Cult of the Cold Flame, but was reclaimed by John and used to restore the soul of Mister E. The sword can not only transform based on the cycles of the moon but can capture and store souls as well.

9 Michael’s Sword

There are some swords in the DC Universe that gain their power more from the legend of their origin than anything else. Then there are the swords that are able to back up the legends by their powerful use. One such sword is the infamous Michael’s Sword.

RELATED: Justice League: 5 Things We Know About The Snyder Cut (& 5 We Hope To See)

This weapon is used as a powerful weapon against the forces of evil. Originally used by Michael the archangel to fight for the forces of Heaven against the evil demons of hell, the sword has since been used by the heroic Frankenstein’s Monster, and more recently by Zauriel. The myth behind the sword is that there could possibly be two swords, not just one.

8 Sunblade

One of the oldest and most powerful swords in the DC Universe has to be the Sunblade, first forged by the god of fire, smithing, and metallurgy: Hephaestus. An Olympian god and ally of Wonder Woman, Hephaestus first created this weapon for Apollo at the dawn of mankind as one of twelve weapons.

Forged by one of the most powerful metals ever found, the Eight Metal, the light produced by the sword allows the wielder to go to wherever it is they need to go. Wonder Woman gave the sword to Batman, who used it to cut through solid rock before trading it to Talia al Ghul for Shazam’s knife, made of Nth Metal.

7 Warlord’s Sword

One of the more powerful weapons wielded in an alternate dimension/hidden world of the DC Universe has to be the Warlord’s Sword, otherwise known as Hellfire. Wielded by Warlord, aka Travis Morgan, during his adventures and time in the world of Skartaris, once the weapon is drawn, it cannot be sheathed again until it has drawn blood.

Given to him by the Mayor of the Dwarves in Skartaris, Morgan was told that the sword once held the Hellfire Gemstone in its blade, which when Morgan had the shattered pieces of the stone embedded into the sword, gave the weapon new power.

6 Sword Of Salvation

The next sword to appear on this list is the Sword of Salvation, the first of a pair of swords wielded by the Order of Purity’s Azrael's. Used in conjunction with the Sword of Sin, the Sword of Salvation allows the wielder to bring the truth of a matter both in the mind of the sword-bearer and the sword’s victim.

RELATED: Harmful Heroes: 10 Most Violent DC Antiheroes

Stolen alongside the Suit of Sorrows by Ra’s al Ghul, a longtime foe of the Order of St. Dumas, his daughter Talia al Ghul used the sword against modern-day Azrael Michael Langdon. Being stabbed by the sword causes the victim to be overwhelmed by the past, and their minds seek redemption.

5 Sword Of Sin

The sister sword to the Sword of Salvation, Azrael’s preferred weapon of choice is the Sword of Sin. The weapon is surrounded by an aura of powerful flames and energy and can cleave through a victim without ever leaving a mark physically on their body.

The only remaining weapon of Azrael after Ra’s al Ghul stole the Sword of Salvation and the Suit of Sorrows, The Sword of Sin is able to be ignited by the sword-bearer using only their mind. The sword conjures up all of the sins of the victims that they have not atoned for and remain guilty of.

4 Swords Of Fan

One sword that was once wielded by one of the DC Universe’s oldest and most powerful foes are the Swords of Fan. According to the ancient legends of China, a barbarian chief calling himself Fan sought an alliance with the Chinese Emperor, and created two magical swords for the king.

The swords allowed the king to cut a mountain in half, and a horde of dragons poured out of the mountain as a result. The king hooked a dragon to a sky boat and brought peace to the land. Vandal Savage sought the swords, manipulating political rivals Chinese communists and Japan against each other to gain them in 1928.

3 All-Blade

The next weapons on the list of ultimate swords in the DC Universe has to be the All-Blade. A pair of magical and mystical swords that were created to vanquish magic-based threats like the Amazons, the weapons were made of copper and cannot harm anyone not created by magic.

RELATED: 10 Times Batman Teamed Up With His Greatest Villains

Only able to be summoned in the presence of true evil, the All-Blade is powered by the soul of the sword-bearer, and can be powered by the sword bearer’s own blood as well. Jason Todd wielded the weapons, believing them to be indestructible and wielding the true All-Blade after mastering All-Caste’s teachings.

2 Soultaker Sword

One of the most iconic and recognizable swords in the DC Universe is the Soultaker Sword. Wielded primarily by DC Comics hero Katana, the Soultaker Sword is notorious for being able to take the souls of those the sword ends. The sword wielder is then able to communicate with those souls trapped in the blade.

Considered the Totem weapon of the Sword clan in the DC Universe, Katana has become the clan leader and one of the clans of the Outsiders. This has granted her enlightenment and immortality as a result, making the sword a truly powerful weapon to hold.

1 God Killer Sword

The most powerful sword ever created and wielded by mortals is the God Killer Sword. Created by Hephaestus, he created the weapon so that he could give Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, the means of fulfilling a contract he put out on the Greek Titan Lapetus, which Deathstroke was meant to exterminate.

Able to end the lives of immortals, the sword can enhance the wielder’s strength in battle, partially directing their actions as a result. It also can shape-shift, and seems to have a mind it’s own. After Grail lost the sword after her defeat in Themyscira, Lex Luthor gave the sword to Cheetah, Wonder Woman’s greatest foe, during the Year of the Villain storyline.

10 Best Romance Anime Series According TO IMDB | CBR

We deal with a wide spectrum when it comes to anime. If you thought anime was just about supernatural, mecha, action, think again. The anime genres are varied, out of these, one of the genres that's wildly popular is romance. The romance genre is even further divided into many subgenres, so there's something for everyone. On one hand, you have light-hearted romantic comedies and on other, there are dramatic romances.

RELATED: 10 Best Romantic Anime, According To IMDb

Romance genres may additionally be a part of Shōjo (targetted at teenage female demographic) anime or slice of life. Really, there is no strict clubbing here. With that being said, here are IMDb's top ten romance anime of all time.

10 MAISON IKKOKU (1986-1988), IMDB 8.1

At the runt of the top ten is Maison Ikkoku, an anime that traces romance between Yuusaku Godai and his landlady Kyoko Otonashi. Your landlady may not the best person to hit on, but once you see the two fall head-over-heels in love with each other, you can't help but root for them.

Kyoto is particularly a character that stays with you for long after the anime has finished. She's a woman battling her own demons. She's a widower who thinks she's incapable of falling in love. Along comes the tenant-charming who meets her in her mess and sweeps her off her feet.

9 KAMISAMA KISS (2012), IMDB 8.1

Based on the manga by the same name by Julietta Suzuki, Kamisama Kiss combines Shōjo and the supernatural. It traces the story of a young girl, Nanami Momozono rendered homeless by her father's debt. Unfettered by her woes, she's a sweet little darling who goes out of her way to help strangers.

As fate would have it, Nanami saves a man from rabid dogs and her life is no longer the same. As a token of gratitude, the man kisses her on the forehead before offering his abandoned place to stay. Turns out, Nanami is now a diety and the abandoned place, a shrine.

In a weirdly supernatural fashion, she falls in love with her familiar Tomoe (a fox). The romance cuts deep as it explores the range of love between humans and nonhumans.

8 TORADORA! (2008-2011), IMDB 8.1

Toradora! is one of those school comedy and romance anime. It tells Ryuuji's tale, who is nothing near to his delinquent appearance. Same is the case with his neighbour, Taiga who's feisty for her size. Resting on the 'appearances are the deceptive theme', the two neighbours help each other with their respective crushes. But before you know it, they fall for one another.

RELATED: 10 Best Sci-Fi Anime Of All Time

If you are in for the long-haul, Toradora! is a special treat for it shows how love brews over time.

7 CROSS GAME (2009-2010) IMDB 8.2

Cross Game has successfully attempted all anime genres at once: sports, romance, comedy, and school. It is one of those 'young-love' stories that take you straight back to school. It tells the tale of Kou and Aoba who are foes in the beginning. The cat and mouse game is a treat to watch.

Although Kou is destined to be with Aoba's older sister, that's not how the story goes. Turns out the game of baseball was all that Koi and Aoba needed cataclysm their romance. A typical Adachi -anime, it deserves every bit of the praise.

6 NODAME KANTÂBIRE (2007), IMDB 8.2

A musical rom-com anime that traces Shinichi and Nodame's romance. Shinichi, a musical prodigy dreams to play with the elites of Europe. The only thing keeping him back is his fear of flying. And Cupid, of course.

As a result, Shinichi is forced to enroll at a music university in Japan. It is here that he lands onto Megumi Noda. Unimpressed by her ditzy behaviour at first, he soon learns about her musical genius.  Opposites truly attract, first Megumi and then Shinji. Nodame Kantâbire is a roller-coaster romance, both heartwarming and endearing.

5 ANOHANA: THE FLOWER WE SAW THAT DAY (2011), IMDB 8.2

Coming from the lead production unit of Toradora! is another romantic anime Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. This one's different though, it combines elements of supernatural and romance.

It begins with Jinta Yadomi, a loner who plays video games all day. As he sees a vision of his long-dead friend Menma, we find the missing puzzle in Jinta's story. As Menma frequents Jinta's life, he and his friends from the past reunite to lay her spirit to rest. This anime broaches on the subject of loss of a loved one. Jinta Yodami takes to the life of a recluse to cope up with grief from loss of a loved one.

4 KIDS ON THE SLOPE (2012), IMDB 8.3

Another musical romance in the list, Kids on the Slope leaves a long-lasting impression. Not only does the anime do justice to romance. It is an endearing representation of friendship, love, and music.

It is a  period drama, from 1966 which begins with Koru Nishimi, a loner. That is until he meets his opposite in a Jazz fanatic, Sentarou Kawabuchi. Along comes Ritsuko Mukae, a lovely girl who befriends the two. Together, the three bond over jazz, while exploring love.

3 NANA (2006-2007), IMDB 8.4

Nana Komatsu is someone every girl resonates with, in one way or another. In her post-adolescence, she tends to fall in love without caution. On this occasion, Nana chases her boyfriend Shouji Endo, musician.

She boards the same train as Nana Osaki, also a musician traveling to Tokyo. The two Nanas begin to gel quickly. What starts as a casual conversation, turns into a bond of affection. As the two women become roommates, we see how day to day hurdles begin to affect their friendship.

2 CLANNAD: AFTER STORY (2008-2009), IMDB 8.6

This is an after story to the critically acclaimed slice of life anime, Clannad. As Tomoya and Nagisa graduate high school, their relationship crosses the extra mile. Tomoya, the fatal hero is helped by Nagisa to lead a quality life. The couple takes life head-on and their love grows deeper with time. Fair reminder:  Clannad: The After Story is steeped deep in tragedy.

The true essence of Clannad: After Story lies in its music. Combine that with fantastic animation, you will get why it stands at number 2 on the list.

1 YOUR LIE IN APRIL (2014-2015), IMDB 8.6

What is it about musicals and romance? What is it about musical prodigies and ditzy girls? Apparently the stories resonate with audiences (Nodame Kantâbire). Similar plot aside, Your Lie In April will always find a place in every coveted list.

It tells the tale of a pianist, Kousei Arima who gives up on things after the death of his mother. But you know what they say, love meets you in your mess.

Enter: Kaori Miyazono, a beautiful violinist who helps Kousei restart his life.  Here's a side note: don't let the over-simplistic description fool you, Your Lie In April is a tragedy rooted in love, it is a take on the hard-hitting subjects of loss, pain, acceptance and learning to move on.

How to Read Manga: Tips, Tricks and The Best Places to Start Reading

$

Trying to read a Japanese comic can be a little daunting when you first enter the world of manga. The direction, for western readers, feels "backwards" and it's easy to be unsure where readers should look next. But it doesn't have to be.

Once you get the hang of the flow of manga, the stories will open your world to new perspectives and ideas. Here's how to get started.

RELATED: Which Manga Should You Read Based On Your Myers-Briggs® Type?

The first thing readers have to get used to is the flow of a manga. Reading manga can feel counter-intuitive to what you're used to doing as the cover of the comic sits at what westerners would consider the back of the book. Open the "back cover" to begin reading a volume of manga (known as a tankōbon).

The way to follow a manga page is also drastically different from that of a western comic. Where western comics are read left to right; manga is read right to left. Individual panels always start at the top right. When you reach the far left of the page, readers should return their eye to the far-right and continue to read the next row. Another bit of advice is that, if the panels are vertical, start with the topmost panel and read downward.

Even if panels don't line up perfectly, readers should stick with the right to left; top to bottom rule. Start with the topmost panel and make your way to the bottom. Remember to always follow right to left.

RELATED: 10 Terrifying Junji Ito Stories You Shouldn't Read In The Dark

Word bubbles in manga are read in a similar manner to panels. Readers should follow right to left; top to bottom. Begin with the word bubble on the top right and move to the left. If multiple word bubbles are in one panel, you should still read them right to left; top to bottom.

This part can be a little confusing to new readers. The gutters of manga are a little more explicit in what they do than western comics. In manga, the gutter is a strong indication of time passing or changing. For example, when the gutters are black, this generally indicates that a part of the story is taking place in the past. When the gutters are fading from black to white, this indicates that the story is moving into or out of a flashback sequence.

By contrast, western comics tend to use gutters more to create pacing for the reader. In comic books, a black gutter usually indicates that the artist wants the reader to slow down and really take in the information. It can also make fight scenes move a little more slowly because readers will look at panels slower. If you ever find yourself getting lost on a page, don't be afraid to go back and reread the whole thing.

RELATED: Dragon Ball Z: 15 Biggest Differences Between The Manga And The Anime

It's best to start with the first volume or chapter of a series rather than jump into the latest issue as one might do with long-running superhero comics. If you're looking for something similar to the latter, Dragon Ball offers classic shonen ("boys" comics) action, while My Hero AcademiaAttack on Titan and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba are three great modern hits. If you're looking for something more slower-paced, then "slice of life" titles like Barakamon or Classmates: Dou Kyu Sei might be for you. If you're into horror, Tokyo Ghoul or No Longer Human will give you chills, while romance fans might want to start with Fruits Basket or Ouran High School Host Club. In terms of genre, the options really are endless.

It can be intimidating to figure out where to find your feet with manga as there are so many stories and reading them is a learned skill. However, like any skill, it just takes a little time practice, and the payoff is that you'll open yourself up to a whole new world of comics to explore.

Fico Ossio Might Explode Your Brain With the Colors in No One Left to Fight

$

In "Reason to be Excited," I spotlight things from modern comics that I think are worth getting excited about. I mean stuff more specific than "this comic is good," ya know? More like a specific bit from a writer or artist that impressed me.

Today, I talk about the really enjoyable No One Left To Fight and, in particular, the eye-popping colors by Fico Ossio.

The book is written by Aubrey Sitterson and drawn by Ossio (who co-created the book with Sitterson), who colors himself (with some help from Raciel Avilia). Taylor Esposito delivers the lettering on the book.

The concept of the series is that imagine if, I dunno, let's say that Goku has won a seemingly final battle and saved the world and now it's years later and that's really all that Goku has left in his life, the glory of that last victory.

That's the situation that the heroic Vale has when he asks his old allies Krysta and Timor (Timor is more like a frenemy) to come with Vale to re-visit the site of Vale's greatest victory many years earlier. They agree, even though Vale clearly still has a thing for Krysta, who everyone thought Vale would end up with back in the day. Instead, she's married to Timor and they have two adorable kids. She is so happy in her life that she feels it is only right for her and Timor to give Vale, who's quite frankly, depressing, some joy, as well, even if it is nostalgic joy.

It's a touching, heartfelt story. Ossio's art is strong and I really enjoy his color choices, as even in the normal stuff like chopping a salad is colorful...

But when Timor decides to spar a bit with Vale, then you see the colors really EXPLODE!!

Esposito does a great job matching the fury of the colors with his lettering.

Later, when they revisit the school they all attended, Vale is approached by Winda (think a grown-up Wiley Kat making a move on Lion-O) and when he turns her down, she flies into a rage and you can see Ossio at his best once more...

Again, Esposito's letters match Ossio beautifully.

Anyhow, this all leads to the (for now) final issue, and the colors are INSANE there. It is AMAZING. It is so good that I don't want to spoil any of it (except, I guess, in the featured image) except to note that they finally get someone real to fight and the colors I think might have set my copy of the book on fire.

Hopefully we get to see more of this compelling (and very familiar) world that Sitterson and Ossio have created.

Okay, this feature is a bit less of a reader-interactive one, as I'm just spotlight stuff in modern comics that specifically impressed ME, but heck, if you'd like to send in some suggestions anyways, maybe you and I have the same taste! It's certainly not improbably that something you found cool would be something that I found cool, too, so feel free to send ideas to me at brianc@cbr.com!

Rick and Morty's Ocean's Eleven Heist Might Be Their Most Sinister Adventure

$

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Rick and Morty's Season 4 episode, "One Crew Over the Crewcoo's Morty."

Rick and Morty has offered the duo many epic adventures over the course of its first three seasons. They've both endangered and saved the Multiverse on various occasions as part of some dysfunctional bonding process whereby Rick keeps expressing some kind of twisted love for Morty to keep him as his protege.

However, Season 4 ramps things up with an Ocean's 11-esque heist that could be their greatest adventure yet, albeit poor Morty doesn't realize the sinister and very ulterior motives his grandad has for getting them involved in the situation.

RELATED: Rick and Morty Takes a Crap on Thanos' MCU Getaway (Literally)

Rick goes into mad scientist overdrive in this week's episode, "One Crew Over the Crewcoo's Morty." After one of his missions in an Egyptian tomb is hijacked by heist artist, Miles Knightly, who leaves behind a souvenir similar to the Night Fox from the Ocean's franchise, Rick heads to HeistCon with Morty. Pissed as can be, the duo bicker and finally decide a heist-off will solve their issue, once more paying tribute to Ocean's 12.

Rick embodies George Clooney's Danny Ocean and Morty does his best Matt Damon, but as soon as they lay down the law -- the winner must steal the Crystal Skull of Horwitz -- Miles reveals his crew's already stolen it. It's the first double-cross of the episode and we see three ex-members of Rick's crew, Glar, Angie and Truckula, gifting the Skull to Miles. However, when Miles opens his bag he finds Rick's poop, with Morty unveiling the Skull himself. This is where the episode starts dropping betrayals and twists as if they were going out of style, once more poking fun at Steven Soderbergh's movies.

RELATED: Rick and Morty Just Revealed Rick's Deepest, Darkest Secret

Flashbacks reveal Rick created a robot called Heist-o-Tron, to come up with schemes and crews to achieve their objective. The robot determined the group would most likely be traitors and so, Rick was able to pre-empt the double-cross and steal the Skull for himself from his former posse. The victory is short-lived, though, because Heist-o-Tron doesn't comply with Rick's orders to shut down. He goes rogue and another feud begins as Rick realizes he can't let the 'bot live as it now wants to steal freedom across all reality as the ultimate job.

It boils down to a game of chess as Rick goes to war with the 'bot, with scheme after scheme, and pre-plan after pre-plan, tiring himself and Heist-o-Tron out. Both know what the other's up to and even when Rick creates Rand-o-Tron, Heist-o-Tron's antithesis (which doesn't make calculated moves), it still double-crosses them as both robots are evenly matched. But it's stupidity that saves the day as Rand-o-Tron reveals the dumber Rick crew gets, the more likely they are to penetrate Heist-o-Tron's fortress. And they do, with the idiocy of Mr. Poopybutthole (now a professor), the god Hephaestus, Ventriloquiver (an archer ventriloquist dummy) and Elon Tusk (an alternate version of Elon Musk with tusks for teeth) proving too much to predict. Rick eventually argues with Heist-o-Tron for hours about whether or not the perfect heist can be concocted -- once more jabbing at Hollywood movies -- and the robot, after killing its equal, eventually blows up in frustration.

Morty's most relieved as he's been writing his own heist script but this is where Rick's long con is finally revealed. Netflix approached Morty and was interested in buying his script earlier on. This entire battle was on a deadline as Rick had to get Morty to the producers' meeting on time. By the time the kid gets there, though, he's disenfranchised with heist movies as he realizes they're always filled with non-sensical plot holes and deus ex machinas, and he tanks the pitch meeting. Morty walks out and vows allegiance to Rick forever to fill this gaping hole in his life, which the sadistic grandfather acquiesces to, feigning innocence. Flashbacks show Rick plotting the whole fiasco weeks ago, seeding doubt in Morty's mind a la Inception so he can't be directly blamed for his grandson not wanting to work with Netflix. It's their most challenging adventure yet but as Rick's selfish, gaslighting actions unfold, it's one that ultimately gets him a sidekick for life and offers Morty a sense of purpose.

New episodes of Rick and Morty air Sundays at 11:30 p.m. on Adult Swim.

Leonardo DiCaprio Reacts to Claims On Amazon Fire Involvement

On Friday, Brazil's president, Jair Bolsonaro, claimed that Leonardo DiCaprio was bankrolling the Amazon forest fires. According to Bolsonaro, DiCaprio was part of an international "campaign against Brazil," but offered no facts to support that argument. Now, DiCaprio is responding.

The actor took to Instagram, posting his response.

RELATED: Did Leonardo DiCaprio Get Kicked Off the Set of Romper Room as a Kid?

DiCaprio wrote:

"At this time of crisis for the Amazon, I support the people of Brazil working to save their natural and cultural heritage. They are an amazing, moving and humbling example of the commitment and passion needed to save the environment. The future of these irreplaceable ecosystems is at stake and I am proud to stand with the groups protecting them. While worthy of support, we did not fund the organizations targeted. I remain committed to supporting the Brazilian indigenous communities, local governments, scientists, educators and general public who are working tirelessly to secure the Amazon for the future of all Brazilians."

Bolsonaro initially posted on Facebook, saying, "This Leonardo DiCaprio's a cool guy, isn't he? Giving money for the Amazon to be torched." During a seperate Facebook live broadcast, he said, "Leonardo DiCaprio, dammit, you're collaborating with the burning of the Amazon." Although Bolsonaro once again failed to give any evidence to back up his claims.

An outspoken environmentalist, DiCaprio pledged $5 million to help fight the fires ravaging the Amazon just last summer. He claims he will continue to fight for the future of the Amazon.

Mark Waid Squeezing Every Crossover Into Marvel's History Is Everything

$

In "Reason to be Excited," I spotlight things from modern comics that I think are worth getting excited about. I mean stuff more specific than "this comic is good," ya know? More like a specific bit from a writer or artist that impressed me.

Today, I want to talk about how delightful I am finding it watching Mark Waid having to fit in all of Marvel's crossovers since the 1990s into a cohesive history of the Marvel Universe (as opposed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe).

As you may or may not know, Mark Waid is currently writing a miniseries called the History of the Marvel Universe, with artwork by Javier Rodriguez and Alvaro Lopez and letters by Joe Caramagna (with beautiful covers by Steve McNiven).

I think it is a cool idea for a project and I'm really enjoying it so far. A while back, I discussed one of the major retcons introduced in the series, which was that most of the wars in the modern Marvel era (basically almost everything after World War II) were now retconned so that they were actually the fictional Sin-Cong Conflict. There still was a Korean War and a Vietnam War, but now there was also the Sin-Cong Conflict, which had vague start and end points and so rather than tying guys like Frank Castle and Jim Rhodes to a war with a specific years, this way they can all have fought in a similar war "in the past," but who knows HOW LONG AGO in the past?

It's a clever idea. Obviously, we all have different ideas on how to handle things like that, but Waid's solution is one of the better ones.

Anyhow, here's the hook, though. The format of such a series inherently has to spend most of the early issues establishing the characters who make the foundation of the Marvel Universe, which is mostly stuff in the past. Waid has done a REALLY good job with that, since there are SO MANY characters and no matter who you introduce, you're going to get, "Why didn't you spotlight Character Y? They're a better choice than Character Z!"

Waid has had a clever solution to that limitation in how many characters he can introduce. You see, as I noted, the early issues are all about introduction, but now in issues #4 and #5, Waid has hit the era of the countless crossover and he has done YEOMAN's work consolidating them into a cohesive narrative, but even with that, it's this hilarious thing where you are just hit over the head with just how relentless these crossovers are.

A taste from #4, where we go from Maximum Carnage...

to the Clone Saga...

to Age of Apocalypse...

to Onslaught...

All in four pages.

So, what Waid does is in #5, as he is dealing with various crossovers, he retroactively introduces characters like Falcon...

and Drax and Gamora...

I also admire how well Waid is doing keeping completely neutral about the quality of these stories. It is something that I personally am familiar with from doing various reader polls where you have to explain the good parts of every story, even if you didn't enjoy it yourself. You have to be above the fray, as it were. Waid does that really well here.

REVIEW: GGhosts Seek Love & Revenge in Netflix's Powerful Atlantics

$

0

A specter is haunting Senegal -- maybe not exactly the specter of Communism, but of a working class ready to take what is rightfully theirs. Without going into a long lecture on the whole complicated economic/political history of Senegal, this is the impression director Mati Diop provides of the particular situation in the opening minutes of his movie, Atlantics: a greedy boss isn't paying his workers, and the workers are angry and desperate, ultimately driven to take a dangerous voyage to Europe in the hopes of eeking out a living.

Atlantics shares its title with Diop's 2009 short documentary about Senegalese refugees crossing the ocean. This feature film, however, is not a documentary but instead a work of magical realism. Here, there are actual specters haunting Senegal. Stories about the afterlife are generally based on ideas about justice; of reward and punishment that is routinely denied within our regular lifetimes. The feature Atlantics sees the supernatural as a means to enact the poetic justice the documentary version could not provide.

RELATED: Rattlesnake Is An Unnerving Horror Film About What We Do For Love

The main viewpoint character of the film, Ada (played by Mame Bineta Sane, one of many non-professional actors in the film), is engaged to marry the wealthy Omar (Babacar Sylla). Her heart, however, is with Souleiman (Ibrahima Traoré), one of the workers embarking to Europe. He never got to say goodbye and she has good reason to believe she'll never see him again. Her friends are divided between a group of party girls and a group of observant Muslims, both cliques looking down upon each other and neither sympathetic to her deep sadness.

Saying anything more about the plot would inevitably lead to spoiler territory, so let's just say that Atlantics tells a compellingly strange and emotionally powerful story. It takes its time to set things up and get to the most interesting material; those who don't have the patience for the slower rhythms of art films might have trouble getting into it before it gets really good. Those who stick with it, however, will be highly rewarded. Much credit has to go to Fatima Al Qadiri's electronic score for keeping up the momentum in those early parts of the film; those long shots of waves crashing are much easier to appreciate when they have such beautifully eerie musical accompaniment.

RELATED: Parasite: Don't Let Anyone Spoil Bong Joon-ho's Terrific Film For You

Mati Diop became the first black woman to have a feature film in competition at the Cannes Film Festival; Atlantics ended up winning the 2019 festival's Grand Prix (the second place prize after the Palm D'or, which went to Parasite). As a meditative ghost story unconcerned with scares, it brings to mind Oliver Assayas' Personal Shopper, which played at Cannes three years ago. Comparing the two films, Atlantics comes out the stronger movie by virtue of more strongly tying its different story threads together and by not whiffing out on the ending.

Netflix is hoping Atlantics will do well at the Oscars as Senegal's submission for Best International Film, but this Thanksgiving weekend, it's certainly been overshadowed by the streaming service's other big movie premiere, The Irishman. Looking at the online discourse surrounding The Irishman, with some passionately supporting the film as a masterpiece of serious "cinema" and others dismissing the film as yet another "old white guy movie," might we suggest Atlantics might be worth some of both of these crowds' shared energies? Both a high-quality art film and a black feminist statement, it should please both of those sides in The Irishman debate... assuming those sides are actually serious about art and diversity respectively and aren't just feuding a proxy war over Scorsese's MCU criticisms.

Atlantics is now streaming on Netflix.

Annihilation III: The Scourge Is Scarier Than Marvel Zombies or The DCeased

$

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Annihilation: Scourge Alpha #1, by Matthew Rosenberg, Juanan Ramirez, Cian Tormey, Federico Blee and VC's Cory Petit, on sale now.

Annihilation: Scourge, the most recent cosmic event happening in Marvel comics, re-introduces a terrifying army of villainous creatures that threaten even the harsh and ruthless denizens of the Negative Zone. The Scourge hail from the Cancerverse, an alternate dimension infected by an ancient deity who has turned the inhabitants into undead, tentacled nightmares. These zombie-like abominations resemble the swarms of flesh-eaters in series like Marvel Zombies and DCeased, but their cosmic horror origins make them even more terrifying than the standard superpowered legions of the living dead.

RELATED: What If? Debuts First Look at Marvel Zombies Episode

First introduced in Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's Realm of Kings crossover event and the focus of the story in the writers' follow-up work The Thanos Imperative, the Cancerverse is a place in which the balance between life and death is hopelessly skewed. It is where the Many-Angled Ones have eliminated death and consumed the entire universe to sustain the life of all of its beings. These cosmic entities converted the world into a single hive mind and allowed living organisms to proliferate into hideous, swarming masses of tentacles and otherworldly growths, giving the Cancerverse its memorable name. Granting eternal life may not sound like the average villain's goal, but the Scourge proves that this concept can be just as twisted and demented as mass death.

The Cancerverse also has its own versions of the mainstream Marvel universe's superhero teams. Instead of the Avengers, there exists the Revengers, who also make an appearance in Annihilation: Scourge #1. Likewise, the X-Men are known as the Ex-Men. These and the rest of the Cancerverse army have the ability to convert living beings all across the multiverse into hordes of restless, savage creatures. It's a creative and haunting twist on the typical zombie story that incorporates cosmic and body horror, as well as a dose of existential dread.

Perhaps the element of the Scourge that is most horrifying is the idea that the "infection" has taken over all life itself. The entire Cancerverse is an extension of the Many-Angled Ones' will, meaning that it's not just individuals who are at risk, but entire universes, as well. Plus, the tentacles spewing out of corrupted lifeforms is a more skin-crawling image than the gory, decaying zombies we're all already used to seeing.

The horror of Marvel Zombies and DCeased comes from the thought of beloved superheroes being reduced to bloodthirsty monsters. However, the premise of both of these series relies on their audiences' preconceived notions of the zombie genre. The cause of the undead plague in Marvel Zombies is vague, originating from a zombified version of The Sentry that crash lands into outer space. The ending of Annihilation: Scourge #1 seems to be a callback to this event as it also features an infected Sentry, but the sheer speed at which the Scourge can take over life makes his presence more threatening.

DCeased expands on the zombie myth by introducing the disease as a corrupted version of the Anti-Life Equation implanted within Cyborg. This manifests as a techno-virus which is able to quickly spread through computers and televisions, resulting in a hopelessly apocalyptic threat. However, the hordes of undead still operate and behave like typical zombies, feasting on flesh. The unique take on The Scourge as creatures straight out of the pages of a Lovecraft-influenced weird fiction story gives them a sense of mystery and an aura cosmic dread.

RELATED: DCeased: Unkillables Puts DC's Villains in the Zombie Apocalypse Spotlight

Because of the Scourge's all-encompassing goal of consuming the universe, the comic book threat that most resembles these villains is the Black Lantern Corps in DC's Blackest Night event. The Black Lanterns are a sort of inverse of the Scourge, seeking to destroy all life and, likewise, all emotion. Nekron, the head of the Corps, is the personification of death, much like the Cancerverse is the embodiment of life unchecked.

In addition, the Scourge and the Black Lanterns have similar missions of bending all life towards a single control. They don't just hunger for flesh, they crave the elimination of free will and humanity. This adds an existential compound to the already terrifying scenario of a zombie apocalypse. It's for this reason, alongside its atypical origin as a spawn of cosmic entities, why the Scourge is one of the scariest undead threats to emerge from superhero comic books.

Annihilation: Scourge Alpha #1 is available now.

Frozen 2 Sets a Major Record For Walt Disney Animation | CBR

Frozen 2 will break a record for Walt Disney Animation, though it didn't have much competition.

According to Forbes, Frozen 2 took in approximately $34.031 million on Friday, putting the film's domestic total at $236.354 million and making it one of Disney's highest-grossing, non-Pixar animated films domestically. Deadline projects the movie as having earned around $290 million domestically by the weekend.

Frozen 2 is also set to become Walt Disney Animation's highest-grossing theatrical sequel ever, beating out Ralph Breaks the Internet ($529 million), Jungle Book 2 ($186 million), Peter Pan 2: Return to Neverland ($115 million), Fantasia 2000 ($90 million) and Rescuers Down Under ($27 million). This is due in part to the fact that Walt Disney Animation itself doesn't often make theatrical sequels to its animated movies, though it did make a variety of direct-to-DVD and direct-to-VHS films.

Elsewhere at the domestic box office, Rian Johnson's Knives Out is projected to take second place with $42.4 million. Ford v Ferrari will earn the third spot with $13.9 million for a total of $81.8 million.

In theaters now, Disney's Frozen 2 reunites directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck and producer Del Vecho with voice actors Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad. Returning musical talents include Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

One of Marvel’s greatest new characters introduced within the last decade has to be Old Man Logan, an alternate universe Wolverine who survived the horrific defeat of Earth’s heroes and chose a simple life with his wife and children in the Wastelands, until his family was taken from him.

Brought into the main Marvel Universe after Secret Wars, Old Man Logan’s journey in the Marvel Universe ranged from trying to change his past, overcoming the pain of his past and finding his place in the world, until his final breath. Let's take a look at the ten toughest Old Man Logan villains, ranked.

10 Kraven

The first villain to be of note in the Old Man Logan universe was Kraven the Hunter. In the Wastelands, Kraven was one of the villains who took part in the decimation of Earth’s heroes. Sneaking up behind Punisher during the battle of Manhattan, he took Frank Castle’s life and inspired a group of hunters years later.

In the main Marvel Universe, Kraven discovered the story of Old Man Logan, and believing it his duty to put a great beast like Logan out of his misery, captured Logan and brought him to the Savage Land. Logan managed to defeat him, however.

9 Dracula

One of the Marvel Universe’s greatest supernatural threats is Dracula. The king of all vampires and one of the most powerful vampires to ever live, Dracula came up against Old Man Logan during Logan’s time in the main Marvel universe as he was adjusting to life with those he had lost in his own world.

After Dracula managed to enthrall many of Earth’s vampires, including Jubilee of the X-Men, Old Man Logan goes after her. Teaming up with the Howling Commandos, Logan fought Dracula and managed to win, taking the vampire king’s head and having it transported to the center of the sun.

8 Sohei

One of the next villains Logan faced during his time in the main Marvel Universe is Sohei, the leader of the Silent Order. After Lady Deathstrike attacked the small village Logan’s future wife from his world lived in as a child, Logan went after the villainess and arrived in a small village outside of Tokyo.

Finding Lady Deathstrike tortured, he discovers he was lured by the Silent Order there. In his own world and future, Logan had fought Sohei and the Order, revealing his true nature to his future wife Maureen. Logan was forced to fight Sohei to the bitter end.

7 Gorgon

One powerful foe Logan fought during his time in the main Marvel Universe is Gorgon, the powerful mutant and member of both The Hand and Hydra. With the ability to transform anyone he makes eye contact with into stone, Gorgon is also a powerful martial artist, assassin, and villain overall.

Logan goes up against him when he learns his former love interest Mariko Yashida, who had passed away years earlier, had been resurrected and used to become an assassin. He fought to break her free of Gorgon’s control, and the two fought him as he sought to gain control of a substance called Regenix.

6 Lady Deathstrike

After Logan’s initial return to the main Marvel Universe after Secret Wars, Old Man Logan decided to relive some of his memories by returning to the old Weapon X facility.

Returning there in the main Marvel Universe, he finds Maureen is living in the small village outside of the facility, but as a child. Wanting to protect her from the threats of the world, he draws out Lady Deathstrike instead, who nearly destroys the entire village, including Maureen. He fights her and her team of Ravagers off, and later teams up with her to fight off the Silent Order.

5 Hulk Gang

One of the foes Logan faced in his own world that proved to be at the heart of the most tragic moments of his past was the Hulk Gang. The grandchildren of the Hulk, who had a relationship with his cousin She-Hulk, the Hulk Gang was comprised of Hillbilly Hulks, who became local thugs and criminals.

Logan returned from a job to gain money for his family to find the gang had taken his family’s lives. He went after them, ending a majority of the Hulk Gang and sparing only a handful of them.

4 Bullseye

One major foe that Logan had upon his time in the main Marvel Universe has to be Bullseye, one of the Marvel Universe's greatest and most mad assassins to ever live. A longtime foe of Daredevil, Bullseye came across Old Man Logan after a low-level employee of the Kingpin, (who became mayor of New York), took sensitive information from his boss, and tried to give it to Logan.

Logan partnered up with a writer to expose the story, but Bullseye was sent to attack them both. He stopped Bullseye the first time, but the assassin came after the writer later on, incurring Logan’s wrath as the two fought a deadly battle.

3 Mysterio

One villain who garnered more attention and caused more pain for Old Man Logan than any other on his homeworld and home universe was Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio. In the attack by the villains of the Marvel Universe that resulted in the loss of most of Earth’s heroes, Mysterio used his mastery of illusions to trick Logan.

RELATED: 10 Manga Marvel Fans Must Read

Using his power, he made Logan think he was fighting off a horde of villains at the X-Mansion to protect his allies and the children. However, it was revealed Mysterio had caused Logan to end the lives of the X-Men, making Logan put his claws away for decades after.

2 Hulk

One of the most twisted foes from Logan’s world that he had to face had to be Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk. In the universe Old Man Logan hailed from, his former friend became unstable and mentally affected by the gamma radiation poising his body. He had an inappropriate relationship with his cousin She-Hulk, resulting in children and grandchild who became the Hulk Gang.

He took the role of a villain, gaining land of his own in the villain community to rule. After Logan’s family lost their lives, Logan went after Bruce, who controlled the Hulk Gang. Hulk ate Logan, but Logan survived and killed Hulk from the inside.

1 Maestro

The most powerful foe Logan faced came neither from his world nor the main Marvel Universe. Instead, he came from another reality entirely. This was the villain Maestro, an alternate version of The Hulk, who sought to end humanity and create a world for Hulks to live in peace.

Arriving in Old Man Logan’s world using a multiverse/time-travel machine, he gathered the remaining Hulk Gang members and traveled to the main Marvel Universe, going up against Logan. After his initial defeat, Maestro took over a small town and became a warlord of sorts, until Logan finally managed to take Maestro’s life.

DC Comics: 10 Most Powerful Energy Rings, Ranked | CBR

There are a lot of powerful forces of cosmic elements in the DC Universe. From the powerful forces that leak from the Source Wall to the cosmic battles between Darkseid and the New Gods of New Genesis, there are many galactic forces that give the heroes of the DC Universe a run for their money.

RELATED: 10 Manga DC Fans Must Read

One of the largest collections of power in the DC Universe however, belongs to the emotional spectrum that created the several Lantern Corps of the universe. From individual rings to the rings of an entire Corps, let's take a look at the ten most powerful Lantern Rings in DC Comics, ranked.

10 Black Power Ring

One of the first rings that deserves to be mentioned has to be the rings of the Black Lantern Corps. The Black Lantern Ring is a powerful force of nature, but it is unusual in that it doesn’t draw from a specific emotion of the emotional spectrum like most rings. Instead, it draws its power from the nature of death itself.

The rings themselves are composed of dark matter and were first created for Black Hand who became the first Black Lantern. The central power battery giving power to the Black Lantern Rings is made up of the Anti-Monitor’s dying essence after Sinestro Corps War.

9 Orange Power Ring

The next ring that needs to be discussed is none other than the Orange Lantern Corps Ring. The ring is powered by avarice, or greed, by the ring bearer. What makes this ring unique is that only one living individual may wield the Orange Light of Avarice at a time.

The power of greed becomes so great in the ring bearer they cannot fathom anyone else having that power. The main wielder is Larfleeze, but his ring is able to take the identities of anyone he ends and makes them into orange light constructs that make up the rest of the Corps.

8 White Power Ring

One of the more mysterious and unique rings of the DC Universe has to be the White Power Ring. Wielded first by Kyle Rayner during the Blackest Night event, the ring’s true capabilities and limitations are not fully known to the DC Universe as of yet.

RELATED: Green Arrow: 10 Things Only True Fans Know About Connor Hawke

One of the capabilities of the white power ring is the ability to restore the dead to life. The rings can also override other power rings, making them white power rings for a time. What makes the ability to bring the dead to life so unique is that the first instance of this was done not by a ring wielder’s will, but by the ring itself.

7 Blue Lantern Ring

One powerful ring that is too often overlooked in the larger Green Lantern storylines has to be the Blue Lantern Corps Rings. The Blue Lanterns are powered by hope, and work to their full potential alongside the Green Lantern Corps. This is because the Blue Lanterns were created by Ganthet after the Sinestro Corps War, and hope can only be enacted with strong willpower.

At full strength, the Blue Lantern Rings can project a person’s hopes into life, heal wounds, destroy the corrupting power of Red Lanterns, and charge a Green Lantern ring to twice their capabilities, making them natural partners in the universe.

6 Star Sapphire Ring

One of the more powerful emotions fueling a power ring has to be the power of love used by the Star Sapphires. Created on the homeworld of the Zamarons out of the Star Sapphire gem, the Star Sapphire’s Violet Lantern Corps Rings harness the raw power of love, and must be accepted by the ring bearer, rather than forced upon them.

The rings are able to allow the wielder to escape through teleportation, and their constructs emit a disorienting cloud upon destruction. The ring can also create crystals to imprison other Lantern wielders and can revive the recently deceased using the power of love from the deceased’s true love.

5 Red Lantern Ring

One of the most dangerous power rings in the universe has to be the Red Lantern Corps Rings. Created by Atrocitus from the organs of Quill, who told Abin Sur the prophecy of the Blackest Night, the Red Lantern Rings are fueled by pure hatred and rage, and are charged using the blood of their victims.

RELATED: Crisis On Infinite Earths: 10 Dead Arrowverse Characters We Hope Make An Appearance

The rings are driven by violence, driving the wielder mad and eventually turning them into mindless, violence driven monsters. The Red Lantern Rings stop the wielders heart, driving Red Lantern energy into their bodies and forcing a person’s blood out through the mouth as a corrosive substance.

4 Ring Of Volthoom

One of the most powerful rings created by a specific wielder has to be the Ring of Volthoom. Created by fusing a piece of the multiversal traveling Volthoom’s soul to a power ring, the ring is inherently evil, considered the opposite in every way to the Green Lantern Rings.

The ring draws energy from the wielder, slowly draining the life from their bodies by bringing their fears to the surface until the wielder is able to conquer them. It was brought into the main DC Universe during the Forever Evil storyline and was once wielded by Green Lantern Jessica Cruz.

3 Yellow Lantern Ring

One of the most powerful and recognizable power rings to face the Green Lantern Corps has to be the Yellow Power Rings of the Sinestro Corps. First worn and discovered by Sinestro during his banishment to the anti-matter universe, the Yellow Power Rings of the modern DC Universe are powered by fear.

Allowing the wielder to fuel the rings using the fear the wielder instills in others, the Yellow Lantern Rings are one of the Green Lantern Corps' greatest enemies. Members are chosen for their ability to create and instill the greatest fear into a person, and even Batman has been chosen to wield one such ring.

2 Phantom Ring

The second most powerful and dangerous ring to face the DC Universe has to be the Phantom Ring. Created by Guardian Rami, who was banished for this creation, the Phantom Ring was an early prototype of the Green Lantern Corps. Able to channel all of the emotional spectrum power rings powers, the ring relies heavily on the wielder’s own life force.

This allows for the possibility of the ring becoming overwhelming and uncontrollable by the wielder. In the New 52/Rebirth eras, Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz faced this ring when Green Lantern hopeful Frank Laminski was given the ring but became overwhelmed.

1 Green Lantern Ring

The most powerful power ring in the DC Universe is unsurprisingly the Green Lantern Corps Rings. The first ever Green Lantern Ring was a magically created ring given to Alan Scott and fueled by the Green Flame. However, the retconned origin of the Green Lantern showed the Guardians of the Universe creating the rings, which are fueled by willpower.

Allowing the wielder to overcome almost any obstacle using pure willpower, the greatest of all the Green Lanterns was Hal Jordan, whose willpower became so great that even in the Rebirth era, Hal was able to create his own power ring and battery using his own willpower.

Avatar: 10 Incredible Water Bender Cosplay You Need to See | CBR

In the fantasy world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, benders are magically endowed people who can manipulate the four classical Greek elements. Among them are the water benders, who hail from the north and south poles. Living around water and ice, they can bend these elements with a flexible and graceful bending style. Katara, Korra, Unalaq, Tarrlok, and more showed us what water can do.

RELATED: The Legend of Korra: The 10 Best Fights, Ranked

Characters like these are ripe for cosplay, and some cosplayers know how to take their costumes to the next level. Let's visit a gallery of ten water bender cosplays so convincing, you'll swear you just stepped through the Northern Water tribe's front gates!

10 A little practice

We start the list with one of the most iconic benders of water: Katara of the southern water tribe. Her bending was the first we ever saw, and with some training, she became a bender who really took the fight to the Fire Nation. She also has the honor of being the young Avatar's first water bender teacher.

Katara takes any chance to practice bending, and any stream or pond will do just fine. @mauscosplay has captured a typical scene of the Aang gang's travels, when they stop for rest and Katara perfects her moves. And how did they make that water effect? It's so convincing! We need an umbrella.

9 Not your typical surfer dude

Okay, this might not be a particular character from the Avatar world, but his cosplay is so good, we couldn't help it. It seems this guy didn't come here for the sandcastles. Instead, he chose a sunny, warm beach to show off his moves, and we're impressed.

Not only are the crashing waves and excellent backdrop for this photo, but the outfit looks like an authentic water bender outfit, and it's sleeveless for max flexiblity. The water effect is outstanding, and his look of calm concentration is just right.

8 Captured!

It's not easy being a water bender in a world where the Fire Nation wants to conquer every corner of the globe. The Air Nation fell 100 years ago, but the Water Tribe has fought on, if only barely. Katara, like the rest of her group, assumed a Fire Nation disguise to wander the land of fire freely. Only her blue eyes gave her away.

RELATED: Avatar: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About Ba Sing Se

But this time, she's cornered! This is a fascinating and dramatic scene, where a well-armored fire bender soldier seized a vital member of Avatar Aang's roving group. What comes next? There had better be a way out of this!

7 Painted Lady in the evening

Who doesn't love a good folk tale? The story of Avatar: the Last Airbender takes the time to flesh out the world as it goes, and that includes a fishing town that Aang's group discovers in the Fire Nation. This town suffers greatly from the pollution of a nearby refinery, making all fishing useless.

But there is hope in the people's hearts: their guardian spirit, the Painted Lady. Sokka dismisses it as a folk tale, but Katara is determined to help. She even disguises herself as that figure, and soon, the real one appears. In this cosplay, the evening light and silhouette make the perfect aura of mystery and awe, like we really did just meet a supernatural being. It's a once in a lifetime event!

6 Learning the trade

Katara isn't the only water-slinger around here. Being the Avatar, Aang must learn the four elements, and that start with water, a natural ally of air. He learned the basics from Katara, and mastered this element in the Northern Water Tribe. He was a quick learner, too.

RELATED: The Last Airbender: The Most Powerful Avatars, Ranked

Aang enjoys water bending, and this cosplay shows it. We get a pretty convincing Aang who casually happens by, and he's got some water to show off. Look how far he's come! That bending effect is really something. Did they use strings to hold it up?

5 Game of Avatar Thrones

Who's up for a little crossover action? Fans love to experiment with different combinations of their favorite fandoms, and this time, some of the heroes of Game of Thrones get an Avatar remake. Arya Stark has become Avatar Korra in full Water Tribe regalia, complete with a staff.

Daenerys Targaryen is now a fire bender, and she's looking good! It's fascinating how the Fire Nation style fits her so seamlessly. Finally, a Water Tribe edition of Jon Snow rounds out the group, and why not? He's Jon Snow!

4 Always a Water Tribe Girl

Back to Katara. In the first half of season 3 of Avatar: the Last Airbender, team Avatar goes underground, since the Fire Nation has effectively won the war. But hope survives, and Katara and the others disguise themselves as Fire Nation natives.

RELATED: Avatar: 10 Things You Never Knew About Zuko

This cosplayer has captured every detail of Katara's Fire Nation disguise, and better yet, she chose a stunning backdrop for her water bender pose. It's safer to bend like that away from the prying eyes of the towns and cities! And the water bending effects are fantastic, too.

3 Bending under the moon

Benders of water and ice have every reason to practice (or fight) under the watchful eye of the moon. Each element has an original bender, and for water, it is the moon, forever controlling the ocean's tides.

As we see in the season 1 finale of Avatar, the full moon really brings out the power of water benders, and even the Fire Nation invaders had to back off. And Hama, the rogue blood bender, can only unlock that insidious power with the full moon to guide her. This cosplay captured it nicely, and we like the secluded feel of it all. Sometimes, the very moon is your best friend.

2 The Councilman

Not all water benders are trying to save the world. In the first season of The Legend of Korra, we meet Tarrlok of the Republic City council, and he's got some serious ambition! Korra had a bad feeling about him from the start, and indeed, he schemed to rule the entire city, carrying on his mobster father's ambitions!

Now, this cosplayer shows off not only Tarrlok's trendy and modern outfit, but also his confident and proud look. Most of the time, he doesn't even have to bend a single water drop to further his plans, but don't corner him! You'll get icicles in the face!

1 Lazy day

We now conclude the list with Avatar Korra on one of her off days. She's a busy Avatar, and each villain in The Legend of Korra is a real monster. Still, there's going to be some downtime, and Korra doesn't mind taking it easy. She's earned a break.

All of the details of this cosplayer are top notch, and that outfit looks authentic enough for a movie set. The stone wall and forest backdrop are charming and rustic, and we like Korra's relaxed and happy look as she bends a little water for fun.

5 Questions From Naruto: Shippuden That Boruto Answered (& 5 That It Didn't)

Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto series enjoyed quite a decent run over a course of fifteen years with Naruto Uzumaki, the main protagonist, finally achieving his goal of becoming the Hokage. With an incredibly vast story, it's no surprise that Naruto had some loose ends which made the fans scratch their heads at times.

With Boruto: Naruto Next Generations beginning its serialization in Jump shortly afterward, some of these burning questions were finally answered. However, some remain unanswered to date. Here are 5 questions from Naruto that Boruto: Naruto Next Generations answered, and 5 for which we still need an explanation.

RELATED: Top 10 Inner Sakura Moments From Naruto

10 Answered: Who Is the Third Otsutsuki?

One of the biggest questions that arose from Kaguya Otsutsuki's own little arc in the Naruto: Shippuden anime was regarding the Otsutsuki clan. According to what was presented to us, Kaguya feared the arrival of a few Otsutsuki clan members. These included the likes of Momoshiki Otsutsuki, and Kinshiki Otsutsuki, along with a mysterious third member.

The Boruto anime saw to it that the question was answered, and it turned out the third member of the group was Urashiki Otsutsuki. Unlike the other two members, Urashiki Otsutsuki is still alive and a big threat to those living on Earth.

9 Unanswered: Where Did Naruto's Truth-Seeking Balls Go?

During the Fourth Great Ninja War in Naruto Shippuden, Naruto Uzumaki gained the ability to use 9 Truth-Seeking Balls thanks to the power granted to him by Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Interestingly, he either lost or used all but three of these in the war, and even the remaining three ended up vanishing once the war was over.

Ever since then, Naruto Uzumaki has never used them again, or maybe Kishimoto just forgot about them. Even the ones that he lost are in Kaguya's dimension, which Sasuke can easily access. Being such an incredibly powerful weapon, it makes one wonder why Naruto hasn't retrieved the orbs yet.

8 Answered: Does Naruto Still Have Six Paths Sage Mode?

By gaining the Six Paths Yang Chakra, along with the power of all the nine Tailed Beasts, Naruto awoke a power known as the Six Paths Sage Mode, which he used extensively during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Surprisingly, the sequel to the show, The Last: Naruto The Movie, didn't see Naruto use this power.

Consequently, fans wondered whether Naruto had lost the ability to use this power again or if he just didn't use it against Toneri Otsutsuki. In Boruto, Naruto resorted to using the Six Paths Sage Mode once again when he clashed with Momoshiki Otsutsuki, and then later, the members of the Kara organization.

7 Unanswered: How Did Hagoromo Otsutsuki Die?

Hagoromo Otsutsuki is, undoubtedly, one of the strongest characters in the entire Naruto series, possessing powers akin to a god. Hagoromo didn't need food, water, or even sleep to survive. What's more, he had seemingly endless stamina, as he fought his mother for months without tiring. Yet, he fell sick and died.

This happened despite the fact that Hagoromo was a user of the Creation of All Things Technique, which allowed him to create life itself. As such, he could've simply avoided death akin to how Izanagi users do it. Why Hagoromo chose to die instead, or if he was forced to die, is something that we'll never know.

6 Answered: What Was Kaguya Afraid Of?

Kaguya Otsutsuki's arc explained everything about her to us, from how she came to earth to how she rose to power. In her flashback, it was revealed that Kaguya Otsutsuki feared the arrival of a bunch of Otsutsuki clan members who would eventually hunt her down. Shockingly, the Naruto series never answered this question to us.

Fans turned to Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in their search for an explanation, and it delivered. From what we know, Kaguya feared Kinshiki, Momoshiki, and Urashiki Otsutsuki's arrival on Earth. To combat them, she started creating the White Zetsu army.

5 Unanswered: Where Did Hashirama Learn Sage Mode From?

Hashirama Senju was Konohagakure's First Hokage and, undoubtedly, one of the strongest known characters in the entire series. A huge chunk of his power came from his ability to use Sage Mode. As seen in the series, the Sage Mode can be learned from one of the Three Sage Areas.

Certainly, Hashirama didn't learn this technique from either Mount Myoboku, or Ryuchi Cave, which leads the fans to believe that he got from training in the Shikkotsu Forest. Unfortunately, this question continues to remain a mystery to date, with no answer having been provided in the Boruto anime either.

4 Answered: Where Was Sasuke After the War?

Thanks to Naruto and Kakashi's efforts, Sasuke Uchiha was pardoned after the Fourth Great Ninja War. Towards the end of the series, Sasuke went on a journey of redemption, however, where exactly he went and what he did on most of his journeys was never revealed to fans.

Once again, the Boruto series came to the rescue of fans wondering about this, as we found out that Sasuke was actually tracking down Kaguya Otsutsuki's trails. Eventually, this led him to Kinshiki and Momoshiki Otsutsuki's location on an unknown planet.

RELATED: Boruto: 5 Characters Boruto Uzumaki Can Beat (& 5 He Can't)

3 Unanswered: Where Does the Otsutsuki Clan Live?

One of the biggest questions that every fan of the Naruto series has on their minds right now is regarding the whereabouts of the Otsutsuki clan. The first Otsutsuki in the series to have been introduced was the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Soon, characters like Kaguya Otsutsuki made their introduction, as well.

It is a known fact that the Otsutsuki clan hunt in pairs, but questions regarding who sends them out on missions or where they come from remain unanswered to date. Hopefully, the Boruto series will clear these up for us in the future.

2 Answered: Orochimaru's Plan

Orochimaru's obsession with learning all the techniques and gaining Sasuke's body continued throughout the entirety of Naruto. In the final arc of the series, he seemed to have mended his ways and wasn't interested in gaining Sasuke's body anymore. However, a person as powerful as Orochimaru had to have a plan, according to the fans.

In Boruto, Orochimaru was revealed to have created several synthetic humans, one of which is Mitsuki. Apparently, Orochimaru created perfect beings who can succeed where he failed, thus giving himself a completely new goal.

1 Unanswered: Is There An Otsutsuki King?

The Otsutsuki clan has played a great role in the Naruto series already, and, by the looks of it, they'll be even more prominent towards the end of the Boruto series. So far, about 6 members of this clan have been seen originating from a mysterious planet in space.

From the looks of it, the Otsutsuki clan members are all sent on missions by a higher authority, which had led the fans to believe that there is an Otsutsuki King. Unfortunately, the person hasn't been revealed in the series so far, and it'll continue to remain a mystery for the time being.
