15 Mass Effect Andromeda PC Mods That Make The Game Playable

Mass Effect: Andromeda was... not quite up to the standard of the original trilogy of sci-fi RPGs from BioWare. While it wasn't a completely awful game by any means, there was a clear drop off from the adventures of Commander Shephard and his band of attractive and hilarious squadmates.

There were definitely parts about the game that could have been improved but where the developers and publisher EA dropped the ball, the fans were happy to pick it up in the form of mod support for the PC version. Here are 10 mods for Mass Effect: Andromeda that make the game much more playable.

Updated July 2nd, 2020 by Meg Pelliccio: Mass Effect: Andromeda was a real let down for fans, but many are hoping that the franchise will come back swinging with a new installment eventually. After all, its sibling franchise Dragon Age managed to recover from Dragon Age 2, so Mass Effect still has time to save itself.

Mass Effect: Andromeda continues to be a sore-spot for long time fans and anyone else that happened to play it, but that doesn't mean it's not worth playing. The game still offers an interesting new chapter to the Mass Effect franchise and with many player-made mods out there, the game can easily be made much better. Check out some of these mods that make the game a little more playable than it was previously.

15 More Skill Points Per Level

The rather handy More Skill Points Per Level mod does exactly what it says and offers players more skill points than usual every time they level up. Additionally, skill points are applied retroactively, so you'll still benefit from this mod even if you've leveled up quite a bit already, meaning you may find yourself with many skill points all at once.

This mod has a variety of options for players, so players can change how many points they receive per level and decide how easy they want to make it on themselves.

14 Quick Loot

The Quick Loot mod removes the "item pick up" window and instead all of the dropped items are automatically placed into the player's inventory, with the obtained items being shown on the screen as they drop. This will definitely speed up your playthrough somewhat.

RELATED: 10 Popular Game Series You Never Knew Had Spin-Off Comics (That You Should Read Now)

The mod offers two different options, allowing players to choose if they want this to work only on containers (such as hidden caches, custom containers, etc), only on corpses (including wild animals), or everything all in one.

13 Tempest Superstore

If you're looking to go on a shopping spree, the Tempest Superstore mod ensures that the Tempest Kiosk stocks all materials, augmentations, weapon mods, nomad upgrades, and paint jobs, as well as consumables and more.

Additionally, the mod makes sure that there's plenty in supply, but if you really need more then a quick save and reload will replenish the stock. The only downside to this mod is that you have to update it every time you unlock a new weapon rank.

12 Better Loot

The perfect addition to pair with the previous Tempest Superstore mod is the Better Loot mod, which ensures that bar a few exceptions, all enemies and containers drop plenty of credits. The exceptions to this mod are Architects, hidden caches, and any containers that have a scripted inventory.

This mod will have you rolling in credits in no time, and ensure you can buy just about everything you need to make the game a nice, easy playthrough with a lot less grinding.

11 MEA Fixpack

It's no secret that Mass Effect: Andromeda was riddled with bugs on release, but players may be surprised to find that many issues haven't yet been fixed by BioWare. Fortunately, the MEA Fixpack mod can solve quite a number of bugs left within the base game.

RELATED: 10 RPGs you should play after FF7 Remake

This particular mod fixes a whole myriad of problems, ranging from quests such as "Running a Fever" now being completable, preventing conversations from getting stuck on repeat, or doors getting stuck, as well as many other irritating little issues.

10 Romance Knows No Limits

Technically you could play the entire Mass Effect series without romancing a single person. but why in the world would you want that! Some of the best moments in this franchise are achieved from becoming, ahem, intimate with your partners in battle. Unfortunately, there are some squadmates who are only romanceable via a male or female protagonist.

That's where this mod from user Atherisz comes in. With this mod, your character is not only able to romance any of your squadmates who have a romance path, but you can also have multiple romances going on at the same time.

9 SAM Audio Limited

Following the common trope of video game "helpers" who are more trouble than they're worth, your artificial intelligence this epic is SAM. While he is important to the story and can provide you with some useful tips, there are also times where SAM will tell you things that are blatantly obvious which you don't need to be pointed out. Yes I know I will die if I don't get in the Nomad quickly SAM, but I really need this assault rifle so get off my back!

Thankfully, there's a mod from user watafuzz which cuts out a lot of SAM's unnecessary comments about radiation, temperature, and life support levels which are already visible on-screen. The game already gives you enough information, we don't need redundant info from our A.I as well.

8 Squad Is Actually Useful

A core problem that players had in this Mass Effect title was that your squad just couldn't hold a candle to your former teammates back in the Milky Way galaxy with Commander Shephard. Names like Liam, Vetra, and Jaal can't compete with the likes of Garrus, Tali, and Liara. This applies from a gameplay perspective as well as a narrative one. While modders can't do much on a narrative level, they can help in the gameplay department.

RELATED: Game On: The 15 Fiercest Gamer Girl Cosplays

With this mod from user Forkinator, your squadmates are much more powerful and balanced according to their characters than they are in the main game. With these changes, the Krogan known as Drack is a melee powerhouse as most Krogan and Cora hits like an Asari Commando trained human would hit. Now you won't have to babysit your squadmates and can focus on having fun.

7 A Better Nomad

One of the few things that Andromeda improved on from the original trilogy was its primary vehicle: the Nomad. Compared to the original series' Mako and Hammerhead vehicles, this thing was leaps and bounds superior. However, it wasn't a perfect vehicle as there were still some things which could be improved. The good thing for players is that one modder agreed and decided to do something about it.

With this mod from user Watafuzz, some tweaks are made to the game's six-wheel powerhouse engine. For one, the damage inflicted on enemies via running them over scales with your level ensuring that crushing them with the Nomad is always effective. Also, the vehicle's top speed, mobility, and jump boosters all get an upgrade ensuring that this thing can go anywhere at any time.

6 Make Materials Easy To Buy/Sell

With all the shops and merchants you have to visit in RPGs, it's always a nice addition when a modder comes in and simplifies all this micromanaging and traveling for the player. For this, we have to bless our conquering hero user tabbed.

RELATED: 16 Female Video Game Characters Making A Huge Impact

In this mod, all crafting materials are now available on your main spaceship the Tempest. This cuts a bunch of time that you would otherwise have to spend going to different planets to get the materials you want to make that special suit of armor you had your eyes on. Not only that, but the materials are all in quantities of 100 000. Good luck clearing through all that in one playthrough.

5 Increased Inventory Size

Show of hands, who likes having to manage their inventory in any game they ever played? While we can't see you, we're going to assume not a single person raised a hand. If only there was a way to have unlimited inventory space and not have to worry about any of that again...

Oh wait, thanks to user Coockoo, we actually don't have to with this game on PC. With this mod, the item inventory limit is spiked up to 99 999. With this mod, you effectively become Hermione Granger in the final Harry Potter movie with that magical bag that holds everything you ever needed. Oh, by the way, a Harry Potter/Mass Effect crossover? Somebody make it so.

4 Reduced Evade Cooldown

Sometimes it's the little things that make gameplay that much more enjoyable. Who would have guessed that a simple button press that makes you jolt in any direction could have added so much to the firefights in Mass Effect? Thankfully the developers did and in Andromeda, you can press the evade button which moves your character via jetpack or biotic abilities in a quick burst. But what if you wanted to do it... all the time?

There's a mod from user watafuzz that allows you to do just that. This mod takes away the cooldown time from performing an evade which lets you do to your heart's content. If an enemy manages to finish you off now, then you just gotta admit that you're not good at the game my friend.

3 Hyper Mobility (Sprint Jump Extra)

Elsewhere in this article, we talk of a mod that brings your squadmates' power levels more up to scale with your own characters. On the other side of the spectrum if you wanted a mod that just makes you totally outclass your squad in terms of mobility even further, here we go.

RELATED: Mass Effect: Andromeda: 20+ Behind-The-Scenes Reasons Why It Broke The Franchise

The Hyper Mobility mod from User Deltatype7 improved on another mod by user Wavebend to bring us something which effectively turns your character into even more of a superhero than they already were. With this, your character's sprint speed is increased (especially useful in hub worlds), and your jump height is increased. Speaking of superheroes, you might find another mod that makes you feel like a certain Avenger elsewhere on the list.

2 Iron Man Mod

Some fans have taken to calling the latest game released by BioWare Anthem to really be an Iron Man simulator. While we can definitely see how that is the case, it's worth noting that courtesy of this mod, Mass Effect Andromeda can easily turn into an Iron Man simulator of its own.

While the creator Wavebend has renamed it from Iron Man mod to simply "Flying Mod", we're sure most would rather call it by its former name. With this installed, you can take to the skies with a couple of button presses and fly around the map as your heart desires. Sure your squad may be wondering why they can't do that but screw it. You're now a billionaire, playboy, genius, and philanthropist. They are not.

1 Tempest Cinematic Shortened

While the Tempest is a beautiful ship, we really don't need to admire for what feels like forever when playing Mass Effect: Andromeda. The landing and departure cutscenes for this spacecraft take far too long for seemingly no reason in the base game. But with one mod, you can cut the time spent staring at your screen by a good 20 seconds.

User Forkinator has got us covered here. Compared to other mods on this list this doesn't seem like much but hey, we'll take shorter repetitive cutscenes over longer ones every time.

The Promised Neverland: 10 Things That Make No Sense About Emma

$

The Promised Neverland tells the story of a group of orphans who escape the clutches of child-eating monsters, a feat that never would have been possible if not for the anime's protagonist, Emma. And Emma defies expectations in so many ways throughout the series, constantly pushing back against the things she's supposed to blindly accept and solving problems that are nearly impossible to overcome.

RELATED: The Promised Neverland: The 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)

Emma's the type of protagonist most people can only dream of being like, but there are a few things that don't add up about her.

10 She Never Noticed Anything Off At Grace Field House

Emma is one of the smartest people at Grace Field House, so it's sort of a head-scratcher that she never noticed anything awry at the orphanage. From children being adopted and never writing to Isabella disappearing to speak with monsters, one would think Emma would have pieced together some of the many clues that things weren't what they seemed.

That's not to mention how frequently Emma and Norman ventured to the gates separating the orphanage from the outside world, a threshold they were ordered never to cross. It's surprising they didn't see any monsters or terrible happenings just from wandering too far off the beaten path. (Given how much they shirk the rules, it's also a wonder they never actually went beyond the gate.)

9 Her Dream

During a flashback at the beginning of the season, Emma reveals a fascinating -- if a little odd -- dream of hers: to ride a giraffe. It's a comical moment meant to show what her character is like, but it does seem a little odd that this, of all things, would be Emma's biggest dream.

Growing up at Grace Field House, many would assume that Emma's main goal would be to leave or to find a family of her own. But then, Emma has always seemed content with the found family she's formed at the orphanage. Perhaps a giraffe was really all that was missing for her.

8 Her Plan To Escape With Everyone

Emma's compassion for others can be exaggerated to the point of becoming a flaw, and that's more or less what happens when she insists on including every child in the orphanage in her escape plan. Ray, and even Norman, take the more logical approach to the situation, accounting for the fact that toddlers would weigh them down if they were to escape with them. But Emma refuses to budge until the very end of the season.

The anime suggests that this is simply Emma's caring personality at work, but even the most benevolent person can see that Emma's original plan was flawed. It's almost too naive of Emma to expect this plan to work out, and it's hard to accept that she'd remain in denial for so long.

7 How Forgiving She Is

Another one of Emma's qualities that's so exaggerated it's nearly unbelievable is her willingness to forgive. Even after Ray betrays her and Norman, she's still willing to help him -- and to keep him in on their plans, regardless of the fact that he can't be trusted.

It's one thing to forgive a friend who's wronged you, but the ease with which Emma continues to trust Ray is a bit unnerving. Perhaps she's just that good of a person, but it's still hard to comprehend.

6 Her Friendship With Ray

Emma and Ray are polar opposites, so it's a wonder these two characters ever became close enough friends to escape Grace Field House together in the first place. If Emma's upbeat, perky personality didn't annoy Ray all those years, one would at least think that Ray's morals -- which are a bit more flexible than Emma's -- would have made her skeptical of him.

RELATED: The Promised Neverland: 10 Questions We Have For Season 2

It's definitely an odd pairing, but the two seem to get on well, even in spite of all their differences. More power to them.

5 She Doesn't Fight Harder To Save Norman

Norman's fate in The Promised Neverland's first season was a tragic one, but it's perplexing that Emma didn't fight harder to save her closest friend. Fans witness Emma going to great lengths to save every single orphan at Grace Field House, and they see her willingness to break the rules for those she cares about -- even when they haven't asked her to.

That's why it's so strange that she respected Norman's wishes to continue on without him, allowing him to be taken away and fed to the monsters running the orphanage. It's true that Norman asked her to do this, but it still feels a bit out of character for the anime's biggest fighter to just ... stop fighting.

4 That Isabella Got Rid Of Norman Instead Of Her

In hindsight, feeding Norman to the monsters running Grace Field House instead of Emma seems like a misstep on Isabella's part. Sure, she made the decision based on Norman's date of birth, but Isabella knew both children well -- and it seems obvious that Emma would never give up the fight to escape, no matter how much Isabella tried to intimidate her.

Norman seems more pliable, so it doesn't make much sense that Isabella would leave Emma alone. She certainly underestimated her ward in that regard, and it came back to haunt her.

3 She Managed To Keep Her Plan A Secret

Following Ray's alleged death (fans technically never see a body), Emma appears to completely shut down. It's later revealed, however, that she was acting in order to throw Isabella off the orphans' trail -- all while they formed a better escape plan than viewers could have anticipated.

But even if Emma's acting was believable, the fact that Isabella wasn't watching more closely -- especially knowing that Emma and Ray understood what was happening at Grace Field House -- is questionable.

2 She Barely Reacted To Cutting Off Her Ear

In order to trick Isabella and escape Grace Field House, Emma needs to cut her tracker out of her body -- and thus, she's forced to cut off her own ear before fleeing the orphanage. That alone takes some serious dedication, but Emma hardly seems bothered by the injury as she leads the other orphans over the wall separating Grace Field House from the outside world.

It seems somewhat unrealistic that Emma would be so energized and spirited after receiving such an injury, but fans will just have to go with it.

1 That She Remains So Optimistic

Most people who have gone through the sort of things Emma has been forced to endure would become jaded and cynical, but Emma maintains her optimism straight through the first-season finale.

This sort of resilience won't make sense to many of the people watching the anime, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible to achieve -- and Emma serves as a great role model in that regard.

Dean Cain Attacks Cancel Culture, Denies ‘Hollywood Heroizes Cops’

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Dean Cain attacking cancel culture.

The Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star stopped by Fox News to respond to a recent op-ed in Time titled "We're Re-examining How We Portray Cops Onscreen. Now It's Time to Talk About Superheroes." The article examines how superhero movies handle the theme of justice and the lack of representation in the industry.

Cain, who serves as a reserve police officer for the St. Anthony Police Department in St. Anthony, Idaho, began the interview with Ainsley Earhardt by denouncing those who are criticizing the police. "This is insane to me. These people will scream anti-police rhetoric all day long, but when their life is threatened and they need a hero, they will dial 911 and a police officer will show up," he said. "Police officers are heroes. Yes, there have been some bad apples and bad situations, but 99.9 percent of all police officers are fantastic. They are there to serve and protect and they do a fantastic job."

RELATED: Disney's Splash Mountain Will Be Rebranded to Remove Song of the South

Cain then moved on to discuss cancel culture, comparing it to an "early version of George Orwell's 1984." He addressed the Time article, denying that America has ever tolerated "law enforcement acting with impunity," as the article claims, and that calls to defund the police have gone mainstream. He then dismissed the notion that "Hollywood heroizes cops," citing films and TV shows like Training Day, The Departed, The Wire, Blackkklansman, Ranpart and Rambo. "I promise you, as Superman, I wouldn't today be allowed to say 'truth, justice, and the American way,'" he concluded.

Cain's comments come as Hollywood continues to re-examine how it portrays police officers on the big and small screens. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a workplace police comedy, scrapped its entire plan for its upcoming Season 8, with star Terry Crews saying that the show will "start over." Paramount Network also canceled the long-running reality TV series Cops.

Many series are also re-evaluating how they portray race on television. The Office, Community, 30 Rock, The Golden Girls and Scrubs all removed segments or episodes featuring blackface. The animated comedies Big Mouth and Central Park are also in the process of recasting biracial roles that were, until recently, voiced by white actors.

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman starred Cain as the titular hero. The show ran for four seasons between 1993 and 1997 on ABC.

WWE Acquires Evolve Wrestling | CBR

After a years-long working relationship, professional wrestling giant WWE has officially purchased prominent independent federation Evolve Wrestling.

As confirmed by PWInsider, WWE has acquired ownership of Evolve following negotiations spanning several months. Rumors of such an acquisition have been circulating for some time, though the deal was evidently finalized only recently. Going forward, WWE will have the full rights to use the Evolve name, as well as produce future events under the promotion's banner, be they live or on the WWE Network. Additionally, WWE has obtained Evolve's entire existing video library.

RELATED: WWE Gives Its Extreme Rules PPV a Horrific Subtitle

Evolve was founded in 2010 by Gabe Sapolsky, former booker for WWE developmental brand NXT and Vice President of Dragon Gate USA. Since its inception, Evolve has been the flagship promotion of Sal Hamaoui's company, World Wrestling Network, which also governs over Shine Wrestling and Full Impact Pro. In light of the acquisition, Evolve footage currently available through WWN is likely to be removed in the next month.

Evolve began a working relationship with WWE in 2015, which allowed the latter to scout the indie promotion for new talent to sign. Moreover, Evolve's wrestlers were featured on WWE's website, while numerous WWE wrestlers and authority figures have made appearances for Evolve over the years. Evolve also held qualifying matches for WWE's 2016 tournament, the Cruiserweight Classic. Finally, Evolve's 10th Anniversary show was broadcast on the WWE Network, becoming the first indie, non-WWE-owned program on the streaming platform.

RELATED: Over 30 WWE Employees Have Reportedly Tested Positive for COVID-19

While Evolve has gained a reputation as one of the star promotions of the indie wrestling scene, the company has endured financial woes and, as PWInsider notes, most likely would have folded in 2016 had it not been for its relationship with WWE. Evolve was hit especially hard by the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic this year. The promotion was in store for a major payday during WrestleMania week. Due to WrestleMania week being all but thrown out the window as a result of COVID-19, however, Evolve was dealt a crushing blow, made only worse by the fact that the promotion was unable to run the additional shows necessary to stay afloat as the global health crisis continued. This led to the negotiations that ultimately resulted in WWE exercising its clause the buy the promotion outright.

Over the course of its existence, Evolve ran a total of over 140 events and served as a stepping stone for such would-be WWE and NXT talents as Johnny Gargano, Apollo Crews, Drew Gulak, Keith Lee and Ricochet, among others.

"The producer of the picture entitled Songbird, has failed to complete the signatory process and is therefore not signed to any applicable SAG-AFTRA agreement." the notice reads. "As such, SAG-AFTRA members are hereby instructed to withhold any acting services or perform any covered work for this production until further notice from the union."

SAG-AFTRA also laid out the consequences for disobeying the Do Not Work order. "Please note, accepting employment or rendering services on Songbird may be considered a violation of Global Rule One. Violating this order may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the SAG-AFTRA Constitution." Film and television production in California was allowed to resume on June 12, albeit with health protocols in place to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Demon Slayer: 5 Strongest Demons (& 5 Weakest) | CBR

$

In a very short amount of time the new shounen anime series Demon Slayer, has turned into the latest phenomenon. The anime adapts Koyoharu Gotouge’s best-selling manga series and tells a passionate story about budding demon slayer, who more than anything wants to rescue his sister from a cursed fate.

Related: Demon Slayer: 5 Times It Proved To Be The Best Shonen Manga/Anime (5 Times It Fell Short)

Demon Slayer is exceptional for many reasons and a feature film and second season are already on the way, but it’s the demons in the show that generate a lot of chatter. They’re incredible creatures that truly put Tanjiro to the test.

10 Strongest: Susamaru

Susamaru may look somewhat innocent at a first glance, but it's her gleeful nature towards combat and violence that makes her especially disturbing. Susamaru seems to experience a heavy pleasure in the damage that she does, which gives her a dangerously inflated ego.

Related: Demon Slayer: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About The Demon Slayer Corps

Susamaru's child-like nature is due to the young age that Muzan took her at. She may be newer to the demon game, but she fights with a ferocious style and can grow extra arms to help her out in battle if she really wants to mess with her opponent's heads.

9 Weakest: Rokuro

Rokuro fills out the Lower Ranks of the 12 Demon Moons, which means that he exhibits a good deal of respect and fear over Muzan Kibutsuji. After Muzan flippantly exterminates the majority of the Lower Ranks, Rokuro finds himself even more vulnerable to his leader.

Related: Demon Slayer: 10 Things You Didn't Know Demon Slayers Can Do (Because They Never Do)

Rokuro is desperate to be stronger and he begs Muzan for more of his demon blood so that he can improve. Despite that power boost, Rokuro's exact strength remains ambiguous. Rokuro isn’t the most dangerous of the 12 Demon Moons, but it's still probably not a wise idea to insult the guy's cracked complexion.

8 Strongest: Akaza

Akaza is a vicious member of the 12 Demon Moon that spends a lot of time in the shadows, but he's absolutely not someone who should be underestimated. Akaza excels in a number of impressive ways, whether it's his proficient skills in hand-to-hand combat or his capacity for handling elemental attacks. The 12 Demon Moon also follow a strict hierarchal system and with Akaza near the top of it as Upper Moon 3, he holds a lot of authority above other demons. Both Tanjiro and Giyu attack Akaza at once and he's still able to overwhelm the both of them.

7 Weakest: Mukago

Mukago holds the position of Lower Rank 4 within Muzan Kibutsuji’s12 Demon Moons. When Muzan reads Mukago's mind he learns just how terrified she is over the prospect of battle. Mukago intends to flee if she ever encounters the Demon Slayer Corps and while Muzan does not approve of this attitude, she does have talent behind her cowardice. Mukago doesn't get many opportunities to demonstrate her demon powers, but it's still fair to consider her stronger than the typical demon as well as other members of the Lower Ranks that she outclasses, like Rui.

6 Strongest: Doma

If the eyes are the gateway to the soul, then Doma is a particularly empty vessel because his eyes contain unbridled insanity. Doma's aloof appearance may result in guards being dropped, but he's one of the strongest demons under Muzan Kibutsuji. Doma is highly adept in combat and he's been able to eliminate previous Demon Pillars and earn quite the reputation for himself. Doma has done a lot of damage to important people, but one of his greatest talents is that he can neutralize the deadly demon poison from wisteria flowers, which gives him a severe advantage over other demons.

5 Weakest: Kyogai

Kyogai utilizes one of the more interesting approaches for a demon. He's covered with drums on his body and his Blood Demon Art incorporates these instruments in powerful ways. Each of the drums on Kyogai affects the geography of his home, turning the abode into a deathtrap. It's a unique skill set that provides a welcome change of pace to demon slaying, but Muzan Kibutsuji actually exiles Kyogai from the 12 Demon Moons. Muzan considers Kyogai to be a lost cause and not powerful enough to stay with the group.

4 Strongest: Kokushibo

There are few demons that are more dangerous that Kokushibo. He's the strongest member of the 12 Demon Moons besides Muzan Kibutsuji and he's spent literally hundreds of years warring against demon slayers, learning their tricks, and perfecting his strategy. Kokushibo is an expert in battle, but if all of this weren't enough, Kokushibo is also the rare exception that's a demon who also has control over the breathing techniques that the demon slayers utilize. This combination of diverse skills really prepares Kokushibo for whatever he faces.

3 Weakest: Rui

Rui may technically be ranked on the weaker scale when it comes to the 12 Demon Moons, but he’s still a demon that makes a considerable impression on both Tanjiro and Nezuko during their journey to Mount Natagumo. Rui takes his cues from the arachnid family and possesses control over razor-sharp threads that simulate spider webbing. These abilities, plus the demon blood that Muzan has provided Rui with are substantial, but the demon’s tragic past and his complicated relationship and opinions on family hold him back.

2 Strongest: Muzan Kibutsuji

Many of the 12 Demon Moons that Muzan Kibutsuji employs to take out the various Demon Pillars are all exceptional threats. Despite their talents, Muzan Kibutsuji himself is on a whole other level due to how he's a pure demon. Muzan's purity means that he's practically invincible and even drastic efforts like decapitation are ultimately useless against him. Survival against Muzan is difficult in itself, but demon slayers are still trying to determine what the best strategy to eliminate Muzan would be. He remains a mysterious wild card whose full powers have yet to be seen.

1 Weakest: Nezuko Kamado

Nezuko Kamado is a true anomaly because in spite of her demon status, she's likely the one character in the series that Tanjiro doesn't have to worry about attacking him. Nezuko is Tanjiro's younger sister. Muzan Kibutsuji turns Nezuko into a demon, which is what launches Tanjiro on his demon slaying mission. Nezuko is a demon, but Tanjiro and company work to suppress her abilities as much as possible. Tanjiro is desperate to prove that a demon like Nezuko can be tame and not a danger to humans so that she doesn't have to be executed.

Demon Slayer: 10 Facts Fans Didn't Know About Yoriichi | CBR

There is so much history within the world of Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer as it relates to the story of Tanjiro Kamado. One such individual is Yoriichi Tsugikuni, a member of the Demon Slayer Corps as well as an ancestor to Tanjiro.

RELATED: Demon Slayer: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About Aoi Kanzaki

Fans only learned a little bit about his origins in both the manga and anime series, but we know how powerful he was as a demon slayer during the Sengoku Era. As we dig deep into the background of Yoriichi, here is what we know so far on this legendary swordsman.

10 He Is The Creator Of The First Breathing Styles

Yoriichi created the Sun Breathing Style, which was considered the first sword style. All other Breathing Styles that were taught at the Demon Slayer Corps were derived from this particular style that Yoriichi created. Known as the Fire Dance, the Sun Breathing Style was the only power that was used and passed down within the Kamado family. The last known user to manifest this power is Tanjiro Kamado, which was taught to him by his father, Tanjuro Kamado. Knowing where the power came from, Yoriichi was able to perfect this style and soon became a blueprint for other types of styles to follow.

9 His Demon Slayer Mark Is Similar to Tanjiro

If you noticed Yoriichi’s forehead, you would recognize the Demon Slayer Mark that he bears on it. What you may not know is that the place where the mark turns out to be the exact same place that Tanjiro has his mark. Even though they both have distinct colors, Yoriichi and Tanjiro’s marks are what symbolizes them as strong demon slayers. Each of these marks is unique, just like the Breathing Style that each swordsman possesses. This discovery displays a connection between Yoriichi and Tanjiro, which we later find out that they are indeed related to one another.

8 Yoriichi Can See The Transparent World

Yoriichi has the uncanny ability to see into the Transparent World, a technique that allows him to sense blood flow, muscles, and sudden movements of his opponents. It’s a skill that Tanjiro uses in his battles against demons. The reason for this is because Yoriichi was born with this ability, something that has to be taught to other users.

RELATED: Demon Slayer: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About Tamayo

It's a natural instinct in a sense for Yoriichi to use this skill, helping him predict the movements that his enemies make. Yoriichi has been able to attack his opponents more easily by using his senses as well as seeing into the Transparent World.

7 His Twin Brother Is a Demon

Growing up, Yoriichi was raised with his older twin brother Michikatsu Tsugikuni. Even though both of them were similar in appearance, Yoriichi and Michikatsu couldn’t be any more different. As a child, Yoriichi looked up to his older brother with respect and vowed that he would also become the strongest samurai in all the land like him. Tragedy would befall on Michikatsu when he was turned into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji, turning both brothers into mere enemies. Michikatsu became part of the Twelve Kizuki, holding the top spot. Yoriichi would pity what his brother has become, but he wouldn’t bring himself into killing him, even before his own death.

6 He Owns The Same Hanafuda Earrings That Tanjiro Wears

If you noticed the earrings that Tanjiro was wearing, it is actually a family heirloom that was passed down from his father. Coincidentally, Yoriichi also sports the same hanafuda earrings as Tanjiro. This further confirms the familial connection made between both of these men. The flowers on these earrings represent the cherry blossoms that grow in their ancestral home. These earrings seem to hold a special place with the Kamado family, seeing as this is passed down from one generation to the next.

5 He Is A Master Swordsman

As a child, Yoriichi didn’t have any training with the sword, but that didn’t stop him from becoming an expert in the craft. He was able to easily beat an expert swordsman after picking up a sword for the first time. In a short amount of time, Yoriichi soon became a very powerful and skilled swordsman among the Demon Slayer Corps.

RELATED: Demon Slayer: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About Its Demons

His impeccable speed also attributes to how well he can handle a sword in the field. Even during his fight with Muzan, he was able to nearly injure him with just his blade. Yoriichi is definitely in a league of his own with the swordsmanship he possesses.

4 A Battle Doll Was Made After Him

Yoriichi’s reputation was well-known among the Demon Slayer Corps that he became a prime example for others to follow. In order to honor him, the community built a battle doll which they named the Yoriichi Type Zero. This tool was built by craftsman Kotetsu’s ancestors to help demon slayers train in battle. The statue has six arms that each holds a katana to mimic his movements. This model uses 108 different attacks that are based on Yoriichi’s own move set. The battle doll was made to surpass most people. It’s the reason why the training dummy is often used by many demon slayers.

3 Yoriichi’s Sword Can Dampen A Demon’s Healing Ability

The sword that Yoriichi uses is quite unique as it changes from black to crimson red. Once it changes color, Yoriichi can use his weapon to burn any demon and even suppress their healing ability. He has taken down very powerful demons like Muzan with his sword, often leaving them with permanent damage that would have them unable to heal their wounds. This red Nichirin blade is considered perhaps the most powerful sword in existence when going against demons. It’s not a surprise that Muzan would fear him with this sword as well as his skills as a fighter.

2 He Knows How To Do The Thirteenth Form

Just like Tanjiro, Yoriichi knows how to use the technique known as the Thirteenth Form. Every demon slayer has 12 forms based on their breathing style, but the thirteenth one is a tough one to master. This form uses all twelve techniques continuously in succession to increase one’s speed and accuracy.

RELATED: Demon Slayer: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About Yushiro

It is the only movement capable of defeating Muzan since it hits all of his vital organs. Yoriichi had nearly been able to use it on Muzan when he last fought him. With his quick movements and mastery in his sword, Yoriichi has been able to perfect this technique.

1 His Relationship With His Sibling Mirrors Shinto Mythology

Yoriichi and Michikatsu’s sibling relationship can be compared to the mythology of the Shinto deities Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. In the story, Ysukuyomi controls the sun while Amaterasu monitors the moon. They are both betrothed to each other, but their relationship falls apart after Tsukuyomi murders another god. Once Amaterasu finds out about this betrayal, she abandons all ties with him and moves into another part of the sky. This would be the origin of the day and night cycle. In a similar sense, both Yoriichi and Michikatsu ended up taking different paths where one became a demon slayer while the other turned into a demon.

10 Manga To Read If You Liked Kimetsu No Yaiba | CBR

There have been plenty of new anime that have made a big splash in recent years. Of all of the series that have resonated with audiences, the popularity of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is on a whole other level. The show is a hit and its momentum isn’t slowing down.

Related: Demon Slayer: 5 Times The Manga Was Perfect (& 5 Times It Wasn't)

Kimetsu no Yaiba has both a film and a second season on the way, but if fans are still eager to recapture the demon-slaying magic of the series in the meantime then there are still other works that get the job done. Accordingly, here are ten manga to read if you liked Kimetsu no Yaiba.

10 Tokyo Ghoul

A major defining aspect of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is that Tanjiro's sister, Nezuko, is half-demon. Tokyo Ghoul plays in that same area as the series' protagonist, Kaneki becomes half-demon against his will.

Related: Demon Slayer: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About Its Demons

Kaneki quickly becomes a prodigy in the demon world and the key to changing everything, but he’s also an easy target. Kaneki's struggles actually matter and the fight sequences are incredible and grotesque. The Tokyo Ghoul anime completely goes off the rails and bungles the complex story, but the manga remains engaging and consistent.

9 Rurouni Kenshin

Many of the manga listed here indulge in demons and supernatural territory that’s similar to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Rurouni Kenshin is slightly different because it focuses on the kinetic sword fighting that's present in Demon Slayer.

Related: Demon Slayer: 5 Things The Anime Got Right (& 5 Missing Things That Could Make It Even Better)

Rurouni Kenshin is still considered one of the formative Samurai series out there and it’s as classy as a blood-soaked action series can be. Rurouni embraces the structure and artistry of Demon Slayer, but helps push the action in a very different and slightly more serious direction.

8 InuYasha

InuYasha is a classic anime series that elegantly combines monstrous action with touching romance. The series stars Inuyasha, a half-demon half-human hybrid who is pulled between worlds. A lot of InuYasha is interested in the half-demon ridding the world of more demon threats and clearing his conscience of his painful past. However, along the way he opens his heart up to Kagome, who slowly begins to understand where he comes from. The exciting sense of adventure that fuels the series is very reminiscent of Demon Slayer.

7 Bleach

Bleach is an anime series that turned out hundreds of episodes and most people had at least heard of the show if they hadn't actually seen it. Bleach involves many of the same concepts that surround Kimetsu no Yaiba. Ichigo gets strange, supernatural powers thrust upon him and finds himself on an amazing journey because of family. Bleach goes on for so long that it's understandable that it loses its focus at times, but until Demon Slayer arrived it was one of the formative series that combined swordplay with demons.

6 Hunter X Hunter

So many beloved series begin with an impressionable youth being left by their parents, but not before they learn that they're actually a part of something bigger and destined for greatness. As a Hunter, Gon journeys to discover and conquer all sorts of creatures and acquires a wonderful party of help along the way. Hunter x Hunter is more lighthearted and playful than Kimetsu no Yaiba, but it matures over time and features some truly epic arcs that feel somewhat comparable to Tanjiro and company's quest in Demon Slayer.

5 Fullmetal Alchemist

Much like how Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is really a story between the commitment between brother and sister, Fullmetal Alchemist does the same thing, but with two brothers. Immediately Fullmetal Alchemist establishes how far these siblings will go for each other. Edward’s radical acts cause his brother Alphonse to pay the price and have his soul contained to a suit of armor. As these two travel the land to heal their wounds, their incredible powers amaze in new ways. Among the thrilling action and familial values, it's hard to not think of Fullmetal Alchemist when watching Kimetsu no Yaiba.

4 Attack On Titan

Attack on Titan has gone on to find overwhelming popularity. The easy thing to focus on with this series is the stunningly frightening designs for the gigantic Titan enemies, but there’s so much more going on in this series. Attack on Titan weaves an intricate story that spans generations and is full of twists and surprises. The fight scenes are amazing to behold and the series’ hero, Eren, must contend with a number of problems that are reminiscent of the problems seen in Demon Slayer.

3 Claymore

It's a popular move for anime to feature storylines that find ways to put their protagonist in a complicated position as they're pulled between the forces of good and evil. Claymore is a take on that concept as the series introduces Clare, a half-human half-yoma hybrid. Claymore stands out among similar programs due to how the yoma are such an entertaining depiction of shapeshifting demons. They're actually frightening. Claymore is also one of the better examples of a dark fantasy series as opposed to something that's outright horror and it finds a tone that really works for the action.

2 Blue Exorcist

Family drama is common to all forms of storytelling, not just anime. However, Blue Exorcist's approach to the idea is particularly unique. Teenager Rin learns that his biological father is actually Satan and after Rin's Exorcist guardian passes away, Rin is set on the path to no just avenge him, but to use his Exorcist skills to take out his father, Satan. The grand scope of Blue Exorcist is part of what makes it so much fun and there are genuine stakes regarding whether Rin will be able to accomplish his goal or not.

1 Yu Yu Hakusho

Yu Yu Hakusho still holds very well decades later and it does an incredible job telling its story about a reckless punk's redemption. Teenage troublemaker Yusuke Urameshi passes away in the series' first episode and finds himself in an unusual arrangement with the supernatural forces of the afterlife. Yusuke quickly finds his calling and the friends that he makes as he wars against demon threats are fantastic supporting characters. The action and characters are the true highlight of Yu Yu Hakusho, but the duality of the series and the style of the enemies feel a lot like Demon Slayer.

Saitama VS Naruto: Who Would Win? | CBR

Considered one of the strongest Shinobi in existence, Naruto Uzumaki is currently the Hokage of Konoha who saved the world and earned his village's respect by possessing strength and talent that surpassed his peers.

RELATED: Shonen Jump: 10 Undeniable Ways That The Big Three Changed The Shonen Genre Forever

Shonen Jump heroes are known for their ridiculous strength, but Saitama, from One-Punch Man sat on a different level. A hero with the ability to end fights in one punch, could he really be able to defeat Naruto in a serious battle? In this list, Naruto and Saitama's strengths and feats will be measured against each other to see who would come out on a top.

10 Signature Move: Naruto

Through grueling efforts and training, young Naruto mastered the Rasengan, an A-rank Jutsu beyond the capabilities of any Genin and Chunin. The move is a spiraling ball of chakra that, when used on an opponent, causes devastating damage to their body. As his signature move, the technique evolved into the Rasenshurken, a Rasengan infused with wind-chakra that can be thrown and manipulated.

Though impressive in its power, it's main strength lies in versatility. Naruto can combine the Rasengan with his shadow clones for a multi-strike, augment it with Sage Mode, the list goes on.

9 Signature Move: Saitama

"Normal" Punch is Saitama's go-to technique when faced with a threat, especially when he wants to end the fight quickly. Normal Punch has defeated many seemingly overwhelming enemies, including Dragon-Level threats, which are monsters that are classified as being capable of wiping out entire cities.

That's it; it's just a punch. What it lacks in the flashiness of the Rasengan, it makes up for with effectiveness.

Verdict: Tie Although Normal Punch may be stronger, Naruto's mastery and creativity with the Rasengan just barely allows him to be evenly matched with Saitama in this category.

8 Strongest Move: Naruto

Naruto's strongest technique is Jutsu Sage Art: Super Tailed Beast Rasenshuriken. This technique has only been used during his fight against Kaguya to save humanity. The technique involves Naruto creating eight shadow clones with his Bunshin-No-Jutsu technique, or clone technique, while in Six-Paths Sage form. Naruto and his clones then each create a Rasenshuriken embued with the powers of a different tailed beast.

After doing so, the clones, along with Naruto, launch the technique at their foe, resulting in massive elemental destruction.

7 Strongest Move: Saitama

Boros, the alien pirate who survived Saitama's normal punch, required a heavier hand. In order to kill him, Saitama resorted to pulling out a technique he had never thought necessary: the Serious Punch.

Despite looking the same as Normal Punch in that it really is just a punch, this move is shown to be much more impactful. Aside from parting the clouds across the planet, the Serious Punch also split Boros's Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon, which almost took out the Earth, in half. Though revealed that this is nowhere near his full-strength, time will tell what a Saitama pressed against the wall could be capable of.

RELATED: Naruto: 5 Times We Were Supposed to Relate To Naruto But Couldn't (& 5 Times We Related To Sasuke Instead)

Verdict: Saitama Naruto barely scratched Kaguya with his ultimate technique; Saitama's not only obliterated Boros, but it wasn't even his strongest attack.

6 Most Impressive Feat: Naruto

On the brink of losing everyone they loved, Naruto and the rest of Team 7 were able to defeat and seal away the Goddess Kaguya. Stronger than any foe they had ever faced, Naruto and company overcame the progenitor of chakra herself.

With complete mastery over all five elemental chakras, the ability to absorb the technique and chakra of anyone she touches, regeneration, and possessing nearly unlimited chakra, Kaguya posed a threat to the entire world. Although it took the coordinated efforts of Naruto in Six-Paths Sage form, Sasuke, and Sakura, they were able to overcome Kaguya and save humanity.

5 Most Impressive Feat: Saitama

Boros, the Dragon-turned-God-Level threat to the entire world, knocked on Earth's door, seeking someone to satiate his desire for a worthy opponent. As previously mentioned, even while wearing armor to seal his full strength, Boros was able to survive Saitama's normal punch, unseen by a villain until this point.

RELATED: One-Punch Man: 5 Things Only Saitama Can Do (& 5 Best Left to Genos)

Despite Boros's immense strength, speed, regenerative abilities, and his Collapsing Star Roaring Cannon (capable of destroying planets), Saitama was still able to defeat Boros while in space. Boros even remarked that during the killing blow, Saitama still held back.

Verdict: Saitama Kaguya and Boros could be argued to be on the same level of threat, and it required Naruto at his strongest along with Sakura and Sasuke to defeat her, while Saitama took on Boros alone.

4 Hand-to-Hand Combat: Naruto

Naruto is a prodigal student of Frog Kata, which is the fighting style he uses while in Sage Mode. Utilizing Senjutsu, or natural energies, Naruto is able to fight hand-to-hand with enhanced strength, stamina, augmented physicality, and also extend his strikes.

Though physically strong, Naruto's secret energy is his enigmatic nature. Known as the Ninja-Maverick, Naruto's approach to fighting is extremely creative, even for a Shinobi. He is known to have created solutions out of hopeless situations many times in his career, and this creativity is his greatest weapon in battle.

3 Hand-t0-Hand Combat: Saitama

Saitama is peerless in combat, hands down. He has proven to be fast to the point of running laps around Speed O' Sound Sonic, who is one of the fastest characters in One-Punch Man, and in a spar with his self-appointed student, Genos (an S-Rank hero) the android prodigy couldn't land a single strike.

RELATED: One-Punch Man: 5 Heroes & 5 Villains Ranked By Power (Excluding Saitama)

Saitama is the perfect fighter, very rarely wasting movement, and when he executes, he is swift, often ending the fight before his opponent knows what is happening.

Verdict: Saitama Though creative, Naruto's technique is nothing compared to Saitama's raw power and speed.

2 Overall Strength: Naruto

Naruto's strongest form is his Six-Paths Sage form, which grants him near-unlimited chakra, access to his elemental ninjutsu techniques, as well as unparalleled movement and perception. In this form, not only are Naruto's techniques enhanced, but his physicality is as well. Being able to move at near-light speeds, Naruto's Six-Paths Sage form possesses the fastest movement seen from any character in the series.

As his peak form, Naruto's also able to access his strongest moves while in Six-Paths Sage and used this form to take on Madara and Kaguya to end the Fourth Great Ninja War.

1 Overall Strength: Saitama

Saitama is the strongest character in his own series as it stands. He decimated scores for each physical test in the hero's association exam and has shown to be able to leap to the moon from Earth, as well as survive the vacuum of space.

The problem with measuring Saitama's combat capabilities is that no one has pushed him to his limit yet, and it seems that whenever a stronger threat emerges, Saitama simply overpowers them.

Verdict: Saitama Saitama has no power or skill ceiling as of yet, while even Naruto has shown he has limits. This results in Saitama taking this round as well as the whole match.

Spider-Man 1994: 5 Ways It Sucked (& 5 It Didn’t) | CBR

$

The 90s were a fantastic decade for superhero TV shows. It was the decade that gave the world Batman: The Animated SeriesX-MenBatman Beyond, and of course, Spider-Man. These shows helped foster a love of superheroes that almost certainly had some impact on the success of the genre today, allowing a wider audience to grow with these comic book characters.

RELATED: Spider-Man: 10 Things Fans Should Know About The Vulture

Despite the fact that these shows received critical acclaim and helped foster a love of the genre, several aspects of the shows haven’t aged very well.

10 Didn’t: Spiderman Theme

The Spider-Man theme from the animated series is, arguably, the best rendition of the Spider-Man theme song. The intro song itself was written and performed for the animated series by Aerosmith guitarist, Joe Perry.

Perry used certain elements from the more classic version of the Spider-Man song and combined it with a classical, Aerosmith inspired rock sound.

9 Sucked: Censorship

Anyone who’s watched Spider-Man will know that the series was heavily influenced by the censors at Fox Kids. This led to some noticeable changes, with the most obvious being the fact that the NYPD police officers carry laser weapons.

However, some more subtle influences of censorship are that no punches are thrown by Spider-Man, no shattered glass is allowed, and the words ‘kill’ or ‘death’ wasn’t allowed to be spoken.

8 Didn’t: Interconnected Universe

Fans of the superhero genre will know that the interconnected universe of characters is one of the most compelling elements of Marvel and DC Comics. Most recently, this interconnected universe received a big screen adaption in the form of the MCU (and to some extend the DCEU).

RELATED: Spider-Man: 10 Pieces of Green Goblin Fan Art That We Adore (& That Spider-Man Would Hate)

However, Spider-Man didn’t shy away from showing off this interconnected universe of Marvel characters, with Iron Man, the Punisher, and Dr. Strange all showing up in the series run.

7 Sucked: Voice Acting

The voice acting in an animated series often makes or breaks it. In the case of Batman: The Animated Series, the voice acting was so incredible that the voices of Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Joker (Mark Hamill) have become the definitive versions of the characters in many fans’ eyes.

While the voice acting in Spider-Man isn’t bad, it certainly isn’t on the same level as Batman: TAS. Furthermore, there are several episodes in which the voice acting becomes comical (Spider-Man’s threat to the Shocker being the most prominent example).

6 Didn’t: Supporting Cast

Without a doubt, one of the strongest elements of Spider-Man is the supporting cast. Characters such as Mary Jane Watson, Harry Osbourne, Dr. Connors, and even J. Jonah Jameson help pad out the world.

These supporting characters often receive character development in their own right, showing that they’re far more than just a character that knows Peter Parker.

5 Sucked: Fight Scenes

This may have been hinted at earlier in this list, but the censorship severely limited what the showrunners could do with the fight scenes. Watching the series back with the knowledge that few punches will be thrown, one becomes overly aware of how many ‘wrestling matches’ Spider-Man has.

RELATED: 10 Spider-Man Memes Only True Fans Will Laugh At

While this doesn’t make the show worse per se, it does make any final conflict between Spider-Man and a villain far less exciting, with most conflicts ending with a wrestling match or being crushed beneath rubble.

4 Didn’t: Inter-dimensional Storylines

Inter-dimensional storylines are set to become a huge part of superhero movies, with Into the Spider-Verse beginning the trend and recent news that the Flash movie is set to star Michael Keaton’s Batman showing that it isn’t going to go away.

However, Spider-Man was way ahead of the curve. The show hinted towards different dimensions early on in the series, with Madame Web showing up far before the inter-dimensional storyline would mature.

3 Sucked: Animation

Watching Spider-Man in 2020 will certainly show up the limitations of the show. While some of this may be due to the fact that the show hasn’t been upscaled into 1080p (even on Disney+), comparing it to other superhero shows from the 90s also reveals a gulf in animation quality.

Shows such as Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond still hold up today in terms of animation, while Spider-Man’s animation is far more clunky.

2 Didn’t: Villains

As with any superhero adaptation, the strength of the show will depend upon the villains and how they’re introduced. In the case of Spider-Man, the show arguably did a better job than most other 90s superhero cartoons.

RELATED: Spider-Man: 10 Supporting Characters We'd Like To See In Marvel's Miles Morales Game

Villains were given an in-depth origin story that was often part of a several episode arc, allowing the audience to understand the villain far more than if they had just appeared in one episode.

1 Sucked: 90s Fashion

Naturally, the most obvious aspect of Spider-Man that hasn’t aged well is the 90s fashion (and the fashion in general). The use of 90s fashion makes the series look old very quickly, instantly dating it for any new viewers of the series.

Perhaps the most notable example of a fashion disaster is Peter Parker’s outfit for the first half of the series. Peter Parker sports a gigantic, tucked in polo shirt that looks terrible. Furthermore, when Spider-Man realizes the symbiote can change his outfit, Parker gives himself a boxy, ill-fitting Italian suit.

David Ayer responded to a fan question on social media regarding the existence of his cut of Suicide Squad. The director stated, "Cut definitely exists - you'll need to ask [AT&T] and [HBO Max] to let it see the sunlight."

RELATED: Suicide Squad Director Shoots Down Joker Footage Rumor

Since the announcement that Zack Snyder's Justice League will debut on HBO Max in 2021, a renewed push has formed for the release of Ayer's original cut of Suicide Squad. According to previous statements from Ayer himself, the theatrically released version of the film was  drastically altered in post-production due to the influence of other comic book movies such as Deadpool and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. "After the BVS reviews shell shocked the leadership at the time, and the success of Deadpool," Ayer said, "My soulful drama was beaten into a 'comedy'."

Other supposed elements from The Ayer Cut that never made the theatrical version of Suicide Squad included a larger role for supporting character Katana and a love triangle for Harley Quinn. It has been reported that the Ayer Cut is being considered for release.

Written and directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Scott Eastwood, Karen Fukuhara, Ike Barinholtz and Cara Delevingne.

Zatanna may be headed to the big screen.

According to DCEU Mythic, Warner Bros. is developing a movie based on the magic-wielding character, who casts spells by speaking backwards. This will reportedly be separate from J.J. Abrams' upcoming Justice League Dark project at HBO Max, despite her association with the team.

RELATED: Justice League Dark: Matt Ryan Says HBO Should Consider Him For John Constantine

In 2018, Zatanna was rumored own film as well. Her name was mentioned alongside potential solo films for Supergirl and Batgirl. While Supergirl is spinning in development hell, Batgirl is currently in the works from Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, although the film does not yet have a cast or release date.

Debuting in 1964's Hawkman #4, Zatanna was created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Murphy Anderson. The daughter of Golden Age DC hero Zatara the Magician, Zatanna is a powerful magic user who casts her spells by speaking backwards, both to honor her father and as a mnemonic mantra. The character is also a veteran of the Justice League, having served on both the main team and the magic-oriented Justice League Dark.

RELATED: REPORT: DC FanDome Event Teases Two Secret Movie Projects

This won't be the first time Zatanna was adapted for other media. The character has appeared in Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited, Smallville and Young Justice, where she was voiced by Lacey Chabert. She was even one of the main characters in 2017's Justice League Dark animated film, with Camilla Luddington providing her voice. The character was also slated to be in Guillermo del Toro's planned Justice League Dark film before it was cancelled.

Though Zatanna has not been officially announced, it could be soon. Warner Bros. will bring several of its films to the virtual DC FanDome event, which launches Saturday, August 22, at 10 am PT. It's possible Warner Bros. has a few surprises in store in lieu of its traditional Comic-Con International plans, although nothing has been confirmed at this time.

The Washington Redskins could see a name change ahead of the 2020 NFL season.

Accord to The Wall Street Journal, the Washington D.C. team is conducting a "thorough review" of the name, which has long been criticized as a slur against Native Americans.

"This process allows the team to take into account not only the proud tradition and history of the franchise but also input from our alumni, the organization, sponsors, the National Football League and the local community it is proud to represent on and off the field," team owner Dan Snyder said in a statement.

Notably, FedEx Corp., which sponsors the Redskins' home stadium FedEx Field, asked the team to change its name. In a related move, Nike pulled all Redskins apparel from its online store.

"In the last few weeks we have had ongoing discussions with Dan and we are supportive of this important step," NFL Commissioner Robert Goodell added. Goodell has previously supported the team name.

This newest call to action regarding the Redskins' name follows a wave of introspection and policy changes from companies across the globe fueled by Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd, who was killed in Minneapolis, MN on May 25 as a result of police brutality.

X-Men: Emma Frost Revealed a VERY Effective (and Terrifying) New Strategy

$

0

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Marauders #10 by Gerry Duggan, Stefano Caselli, Edgar Delgado, VC's Cory Petit and Tom Muller, on sale now.

Ever since setting up the island nation of Krakoa, the X-Men have become increasingly less concerned with the views of the rest of the world. And on Emma Frost's most recent mission in Marauders #10, the White Queen reveals that this even extends to former ideas of morality, which may have held the team back in the past.

While they ultimately spare the lives of the soldiers they confront aboard a Russian ship, the Marauders -- specifically Emma Frost -- crosses a major moral line by using her telepathy to not just erase memories, but to completely rewrite the minds of their enemies.

RELATED: Nocturne: Who Is the Daughter of an MCU Avenger & an X-Men Icon?

After learning the full extent of the mutant-power dampening technology that's been developed by a coalition of Krakoa-resisting nations, Storm and the White Queen assemble the Marauders for a surgical attack on a handheld prototype of the weapon. The attack is swift and brutal, with the Russian ship completely unprepared for the mutants. Iceman and Storm create an iceberg in the ocean to stop them and even use their powers to trap the ship completely in ice.

Meanwhile, Emma and Pyro make their way through the base, with Emma using her powers to turn the soldiers against one another. Forge accompanies the group for the mission, having designed the original mutant-dampening device and swiftly finding his old co-worker Daniels -- who's been captured by the Russians and forced to construct the weapon for them. Calisto even makes a surprise appearance on the mission, finding the captain before he can take the ship down around them.

While the X-Men still follow the laws of Krakoa and don't kill the humans, Emma has an even colder punishment for them.

Emma and the Cuckoos capture the soldiers and bring them aboard their own ship. Once in their custody, the telepaths use their powers to erase all memories the soldiers have from the previous month. The telepaths also use their powers to permanently tweak the minds and personalities of the men, making it so that even the thought of cruelty being carried out not just any minority -- not just mutants -- will make them physically sick. This makes them more accepting, against their will. The men are then returned to Russia to live out their lives in new forms, while their ship is destroyed by the Marauders.

RELATED: X-Men: Krakoa's Quiet Council Is Already Falling Apart

It's certainly a net positive that there are fewer hateful people in the Marvel Universe, and that Emma didn't actually kill anyone. However, this is still a frightening show of power from the White Queen. Wiping the soldiers' minds and manipulating them is a decidedly tricky moral line to walk, and it comes dangerously close to outright brainwashing. For a character who's been a villain as often as she's been a hero, the moral implications of this action are even more troubling and speak to a potential moral rot at Krakoa's core.

A similar mind-wiping idea used by certain members of the Justice League during the events of Identity Crisis, which led to such a conflict between the heroes that the Justice League fell apart at the seams. The line crossed in Marauders gets even more ambiguous when it's revealed Daniels will not be allowed to leave mutant territory and return to his old life out of fear that his knowledge of the mutant-dampening technology could be used against the mutants again. Emma even uses her powers on him to ensure that he won't remember the secrets of that technology.

It appears that even the X-Men's human allies aren't immune to the whims of mutantkind if they decide something is paramount to the safety of Krakoa. With many of the other superheroes and some supervillains like Doctor Doom already fearing that the X-Men can't be strictly considered heroes anymore, the revelation of what Emma has been doing could turn out to be the final straw for the other heroes of the Marvel Universe and finally pit them against the X-Men.

While the planned opening of Super Mario World, Universal Studios Japan's theme park expansion inspired by Nintendo's iconic video game franchise, may be delayed for the foreseeable future, a leaked video provides a sneak peek at just how far construction has come along.

Video filmed on June 29 from the Osaka location of the park reveals a colorful recreation of the Mushroom Kingdom, complete with rotating coins, bobbing Piranha Plants emerging from green pipes and Yoshi seen marching in the hills above Bowser's Castle.

The expansion was originally planned to open in late July to coincide with the launch of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. However, with the Olympics delayed a full year and the world still facing the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the opening has been similarly delayed to a later date until the global health crisis subsides.

A similar expansion was planned for Universal's theme parks in Orlando but construction has been shuttered due to the pandemic. In the meantime, the leaked video provides a tantalizing glimpse at Nintendo's fan-favorite properties brought to life and nearly ready for visitors to immerse themselves in.

DCeased Reveals One Last Haven for Humanity - But There's a Dark Twist

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for DCeased: Hope at World's End #4 by Tom Taylor, Marcos Failla, Rex Lokus and SaidaTemofonte, available now.

In the DCeased universe, Earth's been overrun by a zombie outbreak, and there's nothing left apart from the zombie-like hordes ravaging life across the planet. It's all thanks to the Anti-Life Equation virus, which turned into a new virus after combining with Cyborg's tech and killing Darkseid before spreading around the world.

The virus decimated humanity, as well as this DC Universe's metahumans, aliens and others, leaving Lois Lane, Jon Kent, Damian Wayne and a contingent heading to another world as this one rots away. While we've already seen Poison Ivy's safe haven in Gotham City, we discover there might be another haven around in DCeased: Home at World's End #4, although a dark twist suggests its longterm stability could be wishful thinking.

This story focuses on the Jotunheim fortress in Qurac, which was built during World War II. And now, as the Aerie and their lover, the teleporter Wink, seek haven, it's become a war base once again. While these antiheroes from the Revolutionaries of Tom Taylor's ongoing Suicide Squad run don't mean any harm, the base is understandably hesitant to let them in.

The lion-like Manticore and Rustam are there alongside soldiers, trying to snipe out the duo and making it clear they're not welcome. However, Wink teleports them inside and reveals that, if she wanted to kill them, she already would have. For now, this crew just wants a shelter, and it seems like this fortress is high enough in Qurac's mountains that it's somewhat protected. They have firepower and the higher ground, but that all comes to a grinding halt when Manticore asks them to fly out to find missing colleagues, Nightshade and Hyve.

Although the Revolutionaries help the mountain's residents. But the sight that befalls them is so scary as we see an infected Black Adam coming with his legion from Kahndaq. With their home, Badhnisia, gone, the Aerie and Wink will have to fight for Jotunheim as there's literally nowhere else to go. As Black Adam tries to ram them, they teleport away and are now without much of a plan.

Despite the fortress' natural barrier, one has to think Black Adam already knows of Jotunheim's existence, since he was headed straight in their direction. In any case, it just doesn't seem like Jotunheim would have the warriors needed to especially fight the magical warriors off. And if Jotunheim does fall, Poison Ivy's Jungle will be the last safe place on Earth for humanity.

While this all happened before Superman was turned and was tossed into the sun, so we have no clue as to the fate of Jotunheim. But if it does end up surviving the oncoming onslaught, it could even serve as a base for Earth's returning heroes in the upcoming DCeased: Dead Planet series. But as it stands, Jotunheim has a big target on it and Black Adam's horde is showing no signs of slowing down.

The Best Found-Footage Films, From Grave Encounters to REC | CBR

The found-footage horror sub-genre is one that gets a lot of flak. It's often seen as an easy way to make an inexpensive film that is supposed to look cheap, without applying any "proper" editing or filmmaking techniques. While there is certainly an element of truth to this, when done correctly, a found-footage film can offer new and exciting scares.

Many found-footage films are blasted for their nauseating camera techniques, but the first person POV is what truly immerses the audience into the film, allowing the viewer to only see what the character is seeing, but they also experience the horrors as they occur. For anyone looking to expand their found-footage film knowledge, here are seven of the best the sub-genre has to offer.

This Canadian hidden gem is a highly underrated addition to the found-footage genre. Grave Encounters piggybacks on the popularity of ghost hunting reality shows, such as Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters. This film is framed as a group of ghost hunters on a reality show entitled Grave Encounters who are investigating an abandoned psychiatric hospital. The story focuses on the haunting backstory of the hospital, and it also sheds light on the perceived insincerity of real paranormal reality shows. The writing is exceptional, and the scares are plenty. Grave Encounters made its way through the festival circuit, but it was largely forgotten about due to a limited theatrical release.

Known as the first found-footage film, Cannibal Holocaust caused a whirlwind of controversy, including instances of animal cruelty, with six real animal deaths occurring on screen. This is one reason why many viewers are unable to stomach watching the film. Another controversial aspect of the film was that the footage seemed real, and since the genre of found-footage had not yet been popularized, it was assumed that the project was genuine, which caused huge legal problems for the director. The film is framed as footage taken by a documentary crew deep in the Amazon rainforest after they are captured by a group of cannibals. For film lovers who want to see what is considered to be the first found-footage film, Cannibal Holocaust is a must watch; however, it is not for the squeamish, faint of heart or anyone who can't handle blood, gore and highly disturbing content.

Often incorrectly referred to as the first found-footage film made, The Blair Witch Project was certainly the film that made the format hugely popular. Filmed on a shoestring budget, three actors playing fictionalized versions of themselves were sent into the woods with minimal food and comfort, shooting a documentary about the fabled Blair Witch. The Blair Witch Project is known as one of the most successful independent films of all time, as well as one of the most profitable. The film follows the three protagonists as they get themselves lost and are forced to survive the unseen forces terrorizing them. The group stumbles upon ritualistic voodoo dolls, explores an abandoned house and run from the sound of footsteps, which seem to be moving ever closer.

The Paranormal Activity franchise is one of the most successful in horror history and began with an independent film shot for $15,000 before being picked up by Paramount Pictures. The first film in the franchise was simple enough, focusing on a young couple who begin noticing supernatural experiences in their home. They ultimately decide to set up cameras in their house to document the activity, which increases in severity throughout the story. It's an interesting film, as it's known for its lack of visual effects and its strong use of tension, forcing the viewer to use their imagination. The first instalment was so successful it spawned six subsequent films, with another set to release in 2021.

Famed horror director M. Night Shyamalan contributed to the found-footage genre with The Visit, and it is commonly considered one of his better films, as well as one of the scariest. It's also an example of a found-footage film with a high budget, production value and marketing power. The Visit follows a brother and sister who are documenting their stay at their grandparents' house, but things start to get strange at night. The siblings discover their grandmother suffers from a psychological phenomenon called "sundowning," where patients with dementia become increasingly agitated in the evenings. As is common with M. Night Shyamalan films, The Visit has a horrific twist ending, and it is highly unsettling throughout, making it an absolute must-watch.

Another example of a modern and more experimental found-footage film is Unfriended. The film's story unfolds in real time and is told through a screen cast of the main character's MacBook while a group of high school friends Skype each other. It's clear that each of the characters have secrets, largely involving a student who committed suicide after being embarrassed and bullied online. A mysterious force enters their Skype call and picks the kids off one by one. While this may sound like a cheesy premise, the film is executed well, even in its unconventional format. The success of the film inspired a sequel entitled Unfriended: Dark Web.

The Spanish-language film REC is known as one of the most famous found-footage films, as well as one of the most highly praised zombie films in the horror genre. The film begins with a late-night TV show anchor and her camera man shooting a segment at a firehouse. When an emergency arises at a local apartment building, the camera crew tags along and witnesses firsthand the terror of what's lurking within the complex. REC made the rounds on the festival circuit before being commercially released and received huge praise and a hefty box office return. Three sequels were made, along with a successful American remake, titled Quarantine.

Crisis on Infinite Earths Concept Art Casts Keaton as Earth-99 Batman

The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover saw a wide variety of DC heroes from different continuities across television and film. A recently released piece of concept art shows what a former Batman could have looked like if he were part of the event.

In the Crisis on Infinite Earths: Paragons Rising hardcover -- which collects Crisis on Infinite Earths 100-Page Giant stories -- concept artist Andy Poon depicts the Batman of Earth-99, wearing a mechanical exoskeleton to support his body after years of crimefighting took its toll. The artwork featured Michael Keaton's likeness, though blurred in the circulating image.

Keaton's Batman, which first appeared in Tim Burton's 1989 film, had been previously referred to in the first part of Crisis; the universe his movies took place in is referred to as Earth-89. Crisis showrunner Marc Guggenheim confirmed that Keaton was not approached for the crossover. Keaton is currently in talks to appear in The Flash film starring Ezra Miller and directed by Andy Muschetti.

Crisis may not have included Keaton, but it did feature an appearance by the Batman Earth-99's Batman, played by Kevin Conroy, who is best known for voicing the character in Batman: The Animated Series as well as a number of video games and animated shows. This version of Batman had given up on his code and even murdered his world's version of Superman. He eventually perished while fighting Kate Kane.

Crisis On Infinite Earths: Paragons Rising, written by Guggenheim and original Crisis scribe Marv Wolfman, is currently available in comic shops and will be available in bookstores July 7.

Marvel's Avengers: 5 Heroes We'd Like to See Join the Game | CBR

Marvel's Avengers has stayed under wraps for quite some time. Developer Crystal Dynamics has been tight-lipped about the project, but the team has finally provided more detailed about the highly-anticipated game. Not only has Crystal Dynamics shown off customization features and a co-op mode, but the studio has also revealed much more about the story. The game will focus on Advanced Idea Mechanics (or as fans know it, A.I.M.) as the devious corporation gathers and experiments on Inhumans -- a race of superpowered people that are slowly appearing all over the globe.

The reveal of the Inhumans and the game's true villain, M.O.D.O.K., has taken fans by surprise. Marvel's Avengers seems to be diving much deeper into the Marvel universe than anyone previously thought. Crystal Dynamics has also said that additional heroes will join the game's original six after launch. And while it would be cool to see fan-favorites like Spider-Man and the X-Men, there are some heroes that we think would be perfect fits for the game.

Ant-Man is rarely anybody's favorite Avenger, but he would make a wonderful addition to the game's roster of playable heroes. Not only is he a founding member of the team from the days of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, but he's already confirmed to be in the game. Recent trailers have revealed that a young Hank Pym is part of the cast, giving players missions throughout the game. We've even seen what appears to be some shrinking weaponry.

Maybe it is only a matter of time before Hank Pym suits up with the rest of the team, but hopefully sooner rather than later. He already has the right technology, so it's possible that he is slated for a playable appearance in a future update. His inclusion would also allow for the appearance of the Wasp, and using them together in the co-op game mode would make for a fun team-up.

Marvel's Avengers tells the story of the Inhumans. This is a pretty specific corner of the Marvel universe, so one would hope that additional heroes come from other areas of the comics. A clever addition, and one that is likely given his popularity, is Black Panther. Having T'Challa join the team opens up the possibility of seeing levels set in Wakanda and provides a starring lead for future games if necessary.

He is not just the rising star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he's been a staple of the comics for decades. Black Panther is a must-have for fans, even if this story is not overly concerned with introducing elements from his books. His inclusion would help introduce more international heroes and villains, like Atlantis' Namor the Submariner or Latveria's Doctor Doom.

Considering Ms. Marvel has a starring role in Marvel's Avengers, it would make perfect sense to also include her superhero inspiration. Playing as Captain Marvel seems like a no-brainer with Ms. Marvel in the lead, but even without this tie, Carol Danvers could provide the link to the cosmic side of the comics for this new video game universe. She could help introduce Nova, the Skrulls or even the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Related: Why Marvel's Avengers Added Kamala Khan to Its Roster

Like Black Panther, Captain Marvel's popularity has risen thanks to the MCU, and she would make for a versatile A-list cast member for future storylines. We already know that she exists in the game's universe thanks to Kamala Khan's hideout, so it would not surprise us if Crystal Dynamics is hinting at something to come post-launch.

As the royal king of the Inhumans, Black Bolt should make an appearance. Though Marvel's Avengers' makes it seem like the Inhumans are a new phenomenon in the game's world, they've living on the Moon for decades in the comics. This could also be the case in-game, and it could be something the Avengers learn later on, once M.O.D.O.K. and A.I.M. have been dealt with.

The inclusion of the Inhumans could imply that more important ones like Black Bolt already exist. While he might be a big ask as a playable character, it wouldn't be surprising to see him get a cameo at the very least, perhaps as part of a post-credits scene that reveals the Inhumans on the Moon.

There's a whole supernatural side of the Marvel universe that the game should cover, and what better way to do that than by including Doctor Strange? A future update could be magic-themed and include a playable Doctor Strange with supernatural enemies and levels. The story so far doesn't seem concerned with the fantasy aspects of the comics, but Doctor Strange would add some spooky variety to a sci-fi heavy experience.

Adding Doctor Strange opens up all kinds of creative gameplay scenarios. Not only would it make for interesting combat mechanics, but levels made for him could get really weird (in a good way, of course). This could also help set up Marvel's Avengers' multiverse, just like Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is said to do for the MCU. It's not the first thing that Crystal Dynamics should prioritize, but adding Doctor Strange and the multiverse does provide a good way to explore new areas and stories in the game's world.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montréal and published by Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC on Sept. 4.
