Are you subscribed to the DC Universe streaming service? Of course you aren't. But now, you have a pretty good reason to. The Harley Quinn animated show is here, and it's already shaping up to be quite the entertaining show. Along with Titans, it's one of the few reasons DC has given us to subscribe at all.
Today, we're going to be going over eight reasons why it's so enjoyable, along with two small areas that it could use some improvement in. Let's get right into it.
10 Love: Harley Quinn
![](http://static1.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Harley-Quinn-Animated-Show.jpg)
Kaley Cuoco’s version of Harley Quinn is already a great one. Cuoco cares deeply about the character and made sure that she portrayed her in as good of light as possible. And she certainly succeeds.
Harley's quirky personality is captured effortlessly through the voice work and animation. The first episode alone gives us a taste of the personality and action that we'll be getting from Harley throughout the series. This is a fantastic version of the character that we just can't wait to see more of.
9 Love: Seriousness
![](http://static0.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Commissioner-Gordon-in-Harley-Quinn-TV-Series.jpg)
The show certainly doesn't take itself to seriously. It knows that it is a super lighthearted and fun show, with its central character being a blast.
Even with a very serious Harley trying to prove a point that we'll discuss later, she's still very lighthearted about things. There are some grounded characters here and there, but overall, things are kept fun, nothing in the show is very serious. Well, lighthearted and fun is a pretty big change for DC, now isn't it? Good for them for not being edgelords for once.
8 Love: The Humor
![](http://static3.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/harley-quinn-cartoon-feature.jpg)
The humor in this show is absolutely perfect. It fits Harley so perfectly. The show is over the top just about all of the time, while also very dry as well. It just kind of depends on the characters the episode centers on.
The second episode featured pushover Bane, Penguin and Kite Man of all people, so it was certainly on the over the top side of things. Both episodes of the show have been great so far though, so we're in for a treat either way. We really just need more of Kite Man either way.
7 Not So Much: The Lack Of Batman
![](http://static1.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/harley-quinn-bats.jpg)
Alright, we're still very early into the show, so this could change, but we've gotten very little Batman in the first two episodes. This usually wouldn't be a problem, as he might not necessarily fit into this over the top show. But, the few glimpses that we got of him in the pilot interacting with Harley were actually great.
He's incredibly dry, but that works well with Harley's ridiculous personality. The two complement each other. So, it would certainly be fun to see him a bit more in the show. However, his similar personality to another character on the show might be the issue here.
6 Love: Poison Ivy
![](http://static2.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Poison-Ivy.jpg)
Who better to pair Harley Quinn with than her future love interest, Poison Ivy. Ivy has a large presence throughout the pilot, spending most of her time trying to convince Harley of something that we'll get into a little bit later.
Ivy's dry yet fantastic personality and humor fit incredibly well into the show. Harley's had a lot of different allegiances in her time in the comics, and Ivy was the perfect one to bring into the fold for this show. She's a capable villain in her own right, and she also pairs very well with Harley.
5 Love: Ivy And Harley Working Together
![](http://static0.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/harley-quinn-poison-ivy-dc-universe.jpg)
Harley and Ivy pair perfectly on the show. Harley wants to do everything that she does big, the biggest. Ivy knows that isn't always the best plan. The two keep each other very level.
It's really exciting to see Ivy paired up with Harley on the show. If the comics are any indication, there's a good chance that the two could become romantically involved with one another at some point in the series. Come on, that is like, totally perfect for a season one ending. Give it to us DC.
4 Not So Much: The DC Universe Streaming Service
![](http://static1.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/harley-quinn-ep2-1.jpg)
This is just kind of a given. At this point, the only exclusive shows to The DC Universe streaming service are this and Titans. They're both great shows, but it isn't enough to subscribe for. Doom Patrol is going to two different services now!
There's just so little to subscribe to on the service, so it's a shame that we have to pay in order to watch this great show. It's worth it but... ugh.
3 Love: The Use Of Other Gotham Characters
![](http://static2.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Bane-Harley-Quinn.png)
The show's pilot gives us a look at brand new versions of prominent Gotham characters, including the Riddler, Joker, and of course, Batman. All of these characters are fun to see so far and have some great personalities.
How much Harley will be interacting with them in future episodes is yet to be seen, but they certainly made an impression in their first episode. Joker, on the other hand, is likely going to have a large presence on the show going forward, which brings us to our next point.
2 Not So Much: The Use Of Joker
![](http://static0.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/harley-quinn-header.jpg)
In Harley Quinn, the use of the Joker is interesting. The first two episodes have circled around Joker in different ways. The first was basically Harley trying to get the Joker to prove that he loves her, to no avail. After she breaks it off, she's now solely focused on proving that she's better without him than with him.
This is fine, sure, but let's hope that the entire show isn't about that. It's nice to see Harley on her own, so let's hopefully not see Joker through the ENTIRE series.
1 Love: The Action
![](http://static1.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/harley-quinn.jpg)
The action sequences in Harley Quinn series are great. Harley uses her skills and a variety of weapons to take down her opponents. This is where an animated show like this really gets to shine.
There's a lot of chance for variety in these scenes. Seeing a character like Ivy be able to use her powers will make it that much better. Let's hope we get to see the two taking on some enemies as a team.
