The first official trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 has been released.
The trailer was live-streamed from its debut at CCXP in Brazil on the official Wonder Woman Twitter account. A previous teaser that released yesterday announced the time of the live-stream and featured brief glimpses of new footage.
From the moment it begins, the trailer embraces its '80s setting. It is set to New Order’s “Blue Monday” features an action sequence set in a giant mall. The trailer also showcases the budding friendship between Gal Gadot's Diana and Kristen Wiig's Barbara Minerva, and features Diana's reunion with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine). And you don't have to be a comic fan to stand in awe at Wonder Woman's new Kingdom Come armor towards the trailer's end.
Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman, and will be the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) continuity. (Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, which releases on Feb. 7, 2020, will be the eighth.) It will mark Wonder Woman's fourth appearance in the DCEU, following her debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and her solo film.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
