Writer Tom King's final issue of Batman will finally bring Bruce Wayne and Chuck Brown/Kite Man together for a drink.
On Twitter, King revealed a page from Batman #85. The image shows the Dark Knight and Kite Man having a beer without their costumes on. "In two weeks," King wrote. "Batman 85. Hell yeah." In a response to the post, Mitch Gerards, who has worked with King on Batman noted the writer had been "talking about this scene for like two years now!"
First appearing in 1960's Batman #133, Kite Man was created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang. King's "The War of Jokes and Riddles" arc gave Kite Man a tragic origin story in which his son became a casualty in the battle between the Riddler and the Joker.
Although King's run will conclude with Batman #85, the writer is set to helm Batman/Catwoman, which is a 12-issue series focusing on the relationship between the title characters slated for release in January 2020. Clay Mann will illustrate the series.
Batman #85, which will conclude both King's run and the "City of Bane" story arc, will be published December 18.
