The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan still wants a movie based on Negan.
When a fan on Twitter asked Morgan about potentially working with former co-star Andrew Lincoln on the Rick Grimes movies to Morgan, the actor replied, "Well yeah. Not sure what the deal is with those films though. Waiting like you to hear about ole Ricky Grimes movie. I have my own thing for POSSIBLE films. I’m still holding out for negan story... based on [Robert Kirkman's] graphic novel. Id LOVE to film that. LOVE LOVE LOVE."
The Kirkman graphic novel Morgan references explores Negan's past as a high school gym teacher and his transformation into the bat-wielding villain audiences know him as today. Kirkman debuted the backstory, outside the main Walking Dead comic narrative, in the 16-part prequel miniseries Here's Negan, and this would most likely inform any standalone Negan movie in the future.
The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Cooper Andrews, Avi Nash, and Samantha Morton. Season 10 return February 23, 2020 and will air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
