Last year's Arrowverse crossover event, "Elseworlds," showed the beginnings of the World's Finest friendship between Supergirl and Batwoman. And though the pair haven't seen each other since, their relationship will be expanded upon in "Crisis on Infinite Earths."

The upcoming crossover's showrunner and executive producer Marc Guggenheim has confirmed that the event will build upon the budding friendship between Kara Danvers and Kate Kane just as earlier crossovers firmly established the friendship between Barry Allen and Oliver Queen.

"While we honor the Barry and Oliver relationship, what’s been really, really nice is developing the relationship between Kara and Kate,”  Guggenheim explained while speaking with Entertainment Weekly. "We really just teased it at the end of the ‘Elseworlds’ last year with the World’s Finest reference, but we really get a chance to dig deeper into that and have those two characters supporting each other much in the same way that Barry and Oliver have been supporting each other in previous crossovers.”

After briefly teaming up with Batwoman in "Elseworlds," Supergirl and Gotham City's new Caped Crusader had a quiet moment between each other, culminating in a handshake, a quietnod to the original World's Finest team-ups between Superman and Batman in the comic books. With the fate of the DCTV Multiverse at stake in "Crisis," that mutual respect seems headed toward becoming a friendship forged in fire.
