With the release of Netflix's The Witcher a little less than two weeks away, marketing for the series is in full swing, meaning eager fans of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels -- on which the series is based -- have been treated to a slew of fresh glimpses at the upcoming adaptation and its heroes. Heroes such as the powerful sorceress, Yennefer of Vengerberg, played by Anya Chalotra.

A new clip recently aired on NBC Philadelphia during an interview with Chalotra, showing Yennefer entering a large ballroom and immediately drawing the attention of other powerful figures, including Istredd, played by Royce Pierreson; Tissaia De Vries, played by MyAnna Buring; Fringilla Vigo, played by Mimi Ndiweni and King Virfuril of Aedirn, played by Ben Lambert. Interestingly, the clip is soon followed by a shot of Yennefer as a hunchback, offering a moment for viewers to see how drastic Yennefer's transformation will be.

There isn't much context provided in the clip, but it is assumed that the scene takes place in Aretuza, shortly after the sorceresses transformation, which would explain the shock on everyone's faces.

Yennefer's transformation from hunchback to sorceress was hinted at in the novel, The Last Wish, but never really explored. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has explained in the past that the upcoming series will flesh out the sorceress and her backstory more than the novels did, while remaining as faithful as possible to the source material. That certainly seems to be the case.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. The series will be available to stream on Netflix starting Dec. 20.
