Bravest Warriors Spinoff Starring Catbug Is in Active Development

Catbug, the half-cat, half-ladybug character from Bravest Warriors, will be receiving his very own spinoff series, courtesy of Frederator Studios, the Wow! Unlimited Media company that helped create Adventure Time in conjuncture with Cartoon Network.

According to Deadline, the company has big plans for the character that extends into multiple media formats. Alongside the show, plans are in place for a social network strategy, animated shorts, e-books and webcomics.

Created by Breehn Burns, Catbug quickly became a fan-favorite on Bravest Warriors for his likeable, carefree personality. Videos that feature Catbug have proven immensely popular, and on TikTok, posts starring the character have earned 135 million views, while GIFs featuring the character have accumulated an impressive 200 million loops

Frederator Studios' other credits include Netflix's Castlevania series and Bee & Puppycat for the YouTube channel Cartoon Hangover. CEO of Frederator and Chief Creative Officer of Wow! Unlimited Media Fred Seibert commented on Catbug's pop culture popularity, sharing his belief that the character has "become a true meme or internet culture, spurring parodies and references to his quirky lines from the show."

Created by Pendleton Ward and directed by Breenh Burns, Bravest Warriors originally aired between 2012 and 2018. There is no slated release date for the Catbug spinoff at the time of writing.
