Funko announced a new Pop! figure inspired by a character of sorts from the 1999 Adam Sandler movie Big Daddy: Scuba Sam. In the film, Sandler's character Sonny takes up the mantle of Scuba Sam -- the "father" of an in-universe action figure -- to motivate his "son" Julian to bathe and study.
The figure, announced on Funko's blog, is expected to arrive in July 2020, so it won't be available for any of the ongoing Funko Pop! Black Friday deals.
Big Daddy was released at the height of Sandler's comedic film career, coming hot on the heels of other classics like Waterboy and The Wedding Singer. However, his later films would become less beloved as the 2000s rolled around.
Funko also recently announced a new line of Star Wars and Marvel figures to celebrate the launch of Disney+, and fans can round out their collections with other obscure Pop! figures such as Bob Ross and White Walker Conan O'Brien.
With the release of the Scuba Sam figure, though, collectors can relive that brief period in the '90s when Sandler was one of the kings of comedy.
