Demon Slayer was the breakout anime hit of the year. The series follows a young Demon Slayer name Tanjiro Kamado whose family is killed and his younger sister Nezuko is turned into a demon. He and Nezuko travel in search of the demon that destroyed their family to find a way to turn Nezuko back into a human.

It's no surprise that a series like Demon Slayer has a large cast of memorable and unique characters, so why not see where some of the characters fit in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)? Let's take a look at the MBTI of the main characters in Demon Slayer.

10 Kanao Tsuyuri - ISTJ

Kanao Tsuyuri is the adoptive sister of and successor to Shinobu Kocho. Kanao is one of the more talented Demon Slayers in the series, but a childhood of enduring abuse has left her indecisive and quiet. She has trouble making decisions, so she flips a coin to decide which path to follow.

Kanao is an ISTJ. She's arguably the most introverted person in the series, but she's also analytical and hardworking, being able to get to the level of the pillars in a relatively short amount of time. Kanao also has trustworthy judgement in the field, as shown when Shinobu trusted her to find a way to defeat one of the Upper Moon demons.

9 Kagaya Ubuyashiki - INFJ

Kagaya Ubuyashiki, better known as "Oyakata-sama" by his followers and peers, is the soft-spoken leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, and a clear INFJ. He's a calm and gentle person, and he shows his compassion by learning the names of every Demon Slayer so as not to forget them when they die.

Even though he can't fight because of a curse, his idealistic way of leading the Demon Slayer Corps has earned him the respect of the Pillars, which is a tough bunch to please. Kagaya was also the only one willing to accept Tanjiro's and Nezuko's situation when none of the pillars did.

8 Shinobu Kocho - ENTP

Next up is the Insect Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, Shinobu Kocho, who is an ENTP. In her youth, Shinobu was quite bold and brash, but during the series, she has taken on a much more laid-back personality, always with a smile on her face regardless of the situation.

Like other ENTPs, Shinobu displays an inventive, versatile, and strategic outlook that is on full display in her fighting style. Shinobu doesn't have the physical strength to decapitate a demon, so she had to find another way to be able to kill demons. To compensate for her lack of strength, Shinobu has her blade coated in wisteria poison, and now, she only needs a few quick slashes to kill a demon.

7 Giyu Tomioka - ISTJ

The very first Demon Slayer that Tanjiro meets is Giyu Tomioka, the Water Pillar. Giyu is a very reserved person (though he has a complex about what others think of him) and a strong sense of justice. He has no patience for people who throw away their lives and don't know their limitations.

We have Giyu pegged as an ISTJ. Aside from being reserved and analytical, Giyu is known for being trustworthy with good judgement. Even though he shows no hesitation when killing demons, Giyu spared Nezuko and even vouched for her's and Tanjiro's situation in front of the other Pillars.

6 Kyojuro Rengoku - ENFJ

The Flame Pillar Kyojuro Rengoku is one of the more eccentric members of the Pillars, and that's saying a lot. He's always cheerful and enthusiastic about his duties, and a lifetime of strict practice and discipline has made him an extraordinary Demon Slayer.

Rengoku is definitely an ENFJ. He's caring and responsible, and he values connections with other people, which he demonstrated during the Demon Train Arc when he protects over 200 people from being killed and eaten by demons, even holding back one of the Upper Moon demons.

5 Inosuke Hashibira - ESTP

Next up is the undisputed "best boy" of the series, Inosuke Hashibira, who is an ESTP. Inosuke is a proud guy with a very short fuse who is constantly challenging people to fights to prove that he's the strongest. This makes him very outgoing, but maybe not in a good way.

Because you never know when or where he's going to challenge someone, he has the spontaneity of an ESTP, and to call Inosuke action-orient would be a severe understatement. He's always eager to charge headfirst into battle and usually solves his problems with his swords.

4 Zenitsu Agatsuma - ESFP

Zenitsu Agatsuma is a Demon Slayer who utilizes the Breath of Thunder style and lives in a constant state of fear. He has low self-esteem and is constantly insisting that he doesn't have long to live because of the dangers of being a Demon Slayer.

We feel that Zenitsu best fits into the ESFP personality type. Despite his cowardly nature, when the time calls for it, Zenitsu tries his hardest to help people, like other ESFPs. A good example of this is during the Drum House Arc where Zenitsu fights to protect a child even though he's terrified of the demons in the house.

3 Nezuko Kamado - ISFJ

Nezuko Kamado is Tanjiro's younger sister, who was turned into a demon after Muzan killed the rest of her family. As a demon, she doesn't quite have the same personality as she did when she was human, but it's near enough the same to fall into the same personality type.

Nezuko is an ISFJ. She's a kind and caring girl both before and after becoming a demon. Thanks to the influence of Sakonji Urokodaki, Nezuko now sees every human as a member of her family and is therefore very protective of humans.

2 Muzan Kibutsuji - ENTJ

The penultimate entry on this list goes to the main villain of the series, Muzan Kibutsuji. Muzan is the first of his kind and the only one who can turn humans into demons. He's a cold-hearted and ruthless monster, and we feel he fits best into the ENTJ personality type.

People who are ENTJs tend to be great strategic planners, something Muzan certainly is. He's also ambitious and efficient, seeking to find a way to conquer the sun by any means necessary while being able to blend into human society. Defeat is not something Muzan is familiar with, and when he's directly involved in a plot, you can be sure that one of his subordinates are.

1 Tanjiro Kamado - ENFJ

Capping off this list is Demon Slayer's main character, Tanjiro Kamado. Tanjiro is a kind person by nature, often being described as having gentle eyes. We feel that Tanjiro best exemplifies an ENFJ personality type. Not only is he kind and caring, but he also has an idealistic determination to achieve any goal he sets his mind to.

Perhaps Tanjiro's most notable trait that pegs him as an ENFJ is his ability to communicate and connect with people. He was not only able to break through Kanao's emotional walls and get her to start opening up, but he also empathizes with demons. He sees demons as victims and has been able to connect with some of them enough that they ask for forgiveness for their sins.
